SlamBall

Watch the first minute of this:

Done? Now turn on LBP and play my new level SlamBall.

I cut out the running because that's no fun. So it's all about bouncing and scoring. You don't even need to press X to jump.

Tip: Throw the ball into the air and than bounce once more to gain more height.

PS: Forgot to say: Thanks for sharing the LED counter, NinjaMcWiz! That saved me a load of time doing some boring switch related stuff.

Heh, there seems to be a spell on this level. It gets no comments at all. Not even a H4H request. ^.^2010-01-17 17:12:00

Played around with this last night - nice idea! Definately going to store it among my list of "nice fun little multi-player levels". Wish there was a way to organize my hearted list.... The only issue I had is it was a bit difficult to control sometimes, but that could actually be a plus sometimes in a game like this.2010-01-21 13:11:00

Cheers, CCubage.
Yes, it sometimes is a bit difficult to jump as the power of the "bounce" is a bit random. But I like it that way.
And it's not that much fun if people just won't let go of the ball. I can't do anything about that though.

What I can and probably should do though is make the ball respawn when it breaks apart.
Edit: Done that now. Hope it works as intended. I failed to break myself, but in theory it works.

@Emo: I think so, yeah.

Nice vid... good to see the LED used in a cool way, and that someone adapted it's input easily. I know I'd have fun playing this with some people... I like how you fall into the basket with the ball.

...if you want a sort of shot clock... well, there was some logic I used for the spinning logs in False Idols III to make it so they could only be held for about 4 seconds before dissolving and emitting a cloud of glass and some explosive noises, along with a flashing light countdown. Only thing it was missing was a reset for the tiny piston timer on it.

It'd just be grab switch tied to a slow moving piston, mag switch box, and along the walls where the key moves, a series of keys can trigger an emitter that emits a warning light. Maybe 3 lights, and then the second mag switch hits a key at the end, and emits to kill the ballhog. A quick reset with a winch would probably be in order for the piston box.

Sorry I can't play it and give feedback, but just had that idea.

Yeah, that would probably work, but I'm not sure whether a set time limit really is better. Sure it eliminates the problem of people holding on to the ball forever, but on the other hand it might disappear right before you score and that wouldn't be good either.2010-01-22 10:44:00
