Hey everyone. This would be my second published level, a mini-game called 'Flock'. The object is to grab and drag (using the jetpack) colored (white/black) fleece into their corresponding pens. Drop a correctly colored bundle of fleece into the right pen, and score bubbles will drop. Watch out for red fleece, though! If a bundle of red fleece drops into any pen, impact bombs will drop.

This is a great idea and I like where you're headed with this concept. You have all the ingredients for a very fun minigame, but you still need some fine tuning. Before I get into that though, I really like the simple but effective intro, and the letters hanging from string is a great touch. You picked the perfect music. Your farmhouse looks great, and adding the bombs when red fleece gets to one of the pens is a good idea and helps keep up the enjoyable scramble.

I did encounter a few problems you'll want to fix. First of all, only black and red fleece spawned for me - there was no white fleece. I had some trouble flinging the fleece into the pens without getting killed on the horrible gas, so you might want to work on that. I'd suggest making the gas curved to match the radius of the jetpack so that you can never quite touch it. I got a lot of black fleece into the black pen, but never managed to collect a score bubble. I think there are probably too few score bubbles emitted for each successful fleece drop, and the rate of fleece being spawned can probably be slowed down 25% or so. My last problem is that your scoreboard is apparently broken. It works fine to end the level, but it comes unglued/unstuck when you get to it, and Sackboy repeatedly dies by falling into gas while you wait for the scoreboard to do its thing.

I knocked you down a star because some of the mechanics seem to be broken, but I still gave you 3 stars. Let me know when you get this fixed and I'll jump on it again and let you know what I think. Good work!

I had the same issues as Taffey, only black and red fleece spawned and the score board at the end fell over sideways. Also the title at the beginning said "Fluck" for me (a piece at the top of the O looked like it was scooted over). Really great concept though and a fun mini-game. For now I gave it :star::star::star:

Oh, and for the score bubbles, you could try moving their spawn point closer to their respective pens so that they can fall on top of the player.

Thanks for the input, guys. This was one of those things where it was easier for me to draw the idea down in my notebook than actually make it, heh.2010-01-14 01:21:00

Ah, well that's the LBP create experience in a nutshell!

More like eggshell considering how often creations break. *rimshot*

Just don't be discouraged fabio. The only big change you'd need to make for this level is fixing the red and black only thing. Otherwise shifting over the score bubbles to make them more accessible, fixing the title, and gluing down the score board should all be fairly straightforward fixes. If you ever do an updated version I'll happily play it again.

I had the same issues:

-Fluck instead of Flock (but I gotta tell you that the hanging letters look great anyway)
-Only black and red flocks
-The score bubbles are hard to get because they fall between the flocks
-The score board turned over, so I kept falling into the gas

The farm looked really good, but a few decorations in the background wouldn't hurt (some trees, a cow, whatever).

Other than that, I don't tend to like minigame levels but this one was interesting. If polished, it can turn into a cool minigame.

Tell us when you upload a new version and I'll be happy to play it again!

Hey fabioisonfire,

What another fun concept! Sort of reminds me of the sheep-sorting minigame in the Australia section, but I felt that level was claustrophobic and limited sackboy/girl's movement a lot. I liked your version better...It's a big farm with a lot of wiggle room!

Anyways, it looks like Taffey, SirPaper, and Lleonard already verbalized my issues with game, so I'll try to suggest some more ways of improving the level beyond just fixing the technical issues. Like Lleonard said, more decorations won't hurt. I really love details, and I think adding farm figures like a weather vane on top of the farm house, or maybe a rooster, hay bales (there's a sticker for that!), a pigpen, a hen house, and tree with a tire swing, or a cornfield in the background would give the level a much more wholesome and authentic farmy feel. Animal sounds might also make the level more polished. I also thought it would be funny if animals would drop along with the fleece, and players should protect them from falling into the horrible gas. Hehe. That would add another level of gameplay .

Also, I think the most sophisticated minigames are the ones that progressively get harder and harder. I felt the gameplay, while it had greater longevity than your previous one, felt redundant after a while. I would suggest creating a timing mechanism that will activate more emitters as time passes. This is fairly easy to execute. You can check out AceCreator's logic tutorial, or more preferentially, just ask experienced creators here on the forum . I can point you in the right direction if you'd like...

Stuck on the picket-fence,
