LBL:Fairytale- Sackerella and the Red Stiletto Race!TheKevinExpress
My (somewhat vague) take on the classic Disney story. Play as Sackerella and clean up a mess, get hit by a rocket launcher, break into a heavily guarded facility, and win the prince's heart (awww).
all
I had to rush in order to get this finished, and I'm not totally happy with the final product. Because republishing during the judging period isn't allowed I'll probably end up taking whatever feedback I get and changing it up some, and then republish it in a new slot so I can get some plays.

Don't be afraid to nitpick!

What Happened? The level started off great, has a good story, then I reached the part where you meet your fairy godmother, and didn't know where to go. Where I ended up was under the actual level where all your switches are hidden.

I'm not sure if it was my fault, but it was unclear to me what to do.

Yeah, I see what happened and I've got it fixed on my moon. Thanks for playing and I'm sorry you couldn't get through:blush:
Which of your Elemental levels would you rather me play for F4F?

Anyone else got any feedback?

Ok, just tried it again, got past the Fairy Godmother section, but couldn't get through the searchlights. I think that the first one was supposed to be moving, but wasn't...2010-01-16 22:47:00

No you were supposed to grab the circle which would lift you past the first one. I'll change the grab switch to visible. Sorry you're having such a hard time with it, but thanks for helping out!2010-01-17 15:03:00

Hi,
I'm returning you my 2 cents:

The level started quite interesting with the king telling a fairytale to sackboy, though, you can see 'the void' all around the room; and this is always a negative in a level like this.

Then the level continued with the little survival challenge in wich you have to clean the mess, wich made me hope in a good level in spite of the careless you handled visuals with.

Then the level disappointed me a lot with bland and raw platforming, stuff already seen in hundreds of levels, so it has become a chore to play since a owe you one.

After a while I was suddenly thrown in a 'mgs-style-couple-of-rooms' (that are supposed to be the prince's castle, I guess) wich ended in a three stage boss fight, that could have been awesome If only the boss wasn't quite shapeless, what was it a tank? a mech? a mysterious machinery? who knows?

And after that I was keen enough to partecipate in the (promised in the title) Red Stiletto Race!!!

BUT NO!

I was only told about the race by the king... why?

It seemed to me you built this level because you HAVE TO in some way.
I didn't played your other level but I saw it has like 60.000 plays and a lot of hearts, so I would tell it's quality of some kind.

Maybe I was expecting something more judging from the care put in the badge design, maybe it is because I played this right after ''in pursuit of the meddling magpie'', but I'm really disappointed.

Don't take me bad, but I think that you can improve this level in so many ways that I don't really know from where I can start name them.

- The illusion
The illusion of a real world is essential to let the players dive in the atmosphere of the level; letting them see there's nothing beyond the walls has a really negative effect.
Really.

- Visuals
I'm aware of the fact that not everyone are good in doing the same things, but, some more details, decorations, enviroment, and general objects shaping will add to your level, A LOT.
You can do it in everyway you want to, but at least do it.
I don't mean, because it is a fairytale, that it has to bee all merry and happy and trees clouds'n'rainbows...

- The Race
LET THE PLAYER TAKE A ROLE IN THAT! HOLY SACK!

I think that is enough;
I don't have posted to let you or your level down, I just tried to be as constructive as I can...

blah, blah, good feedback, blah

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I should have seen this coming after the mostly negative (I was in kind of a bad mood at the time, sorry) feedback on your level, but I'm glad you were so harsh. Basically I'll go point by point with you.

-The void around the room- This is interesting, I never really thought that was a negative, but I can definitely tweak the camera zone to see if I can make it look better.

-Visuals- If you ever play my other level, you'll understand this isn't my strong point. But I agree that the level is not ready for publishing in the visual state it is right now. But it was for a contest, so I decided to publish the level, even if it was unfinished. I've got a lot more detail on my moon ready to be published in after the judging is over.

Unexplained MGS rooms and boss fight- A couple more magic mouths along with changed wording have already been added on my moon.

It's interesting you mentioned the race, because having the player participate in the race was the original plan. I was on the fence whether I should bother changing it now, but I think you convinced me. And you were absolutely right in saying I built this level because I 'had to'. I will absolutely never create for a contest with a deadline again, no matter how many crowns are awarded.

Wow, that was really helpful, I feel like I should still go F4F on another of your levels.

Okay, kind of a bump here, but the contest is over and I can now publish all the changes I made. I never ended up changing the race at the end, mostly because I'm getting a lot of great ideas for my next project and I don't want to spend more time on this one.

I'm still doing F4F by the way.

What a crazy and insane level... I love it! I love how you made it more action like and made things actually happen unlike other fairy tale levels characters that sit there giving you 7 boring tabs of magic mouths to read. Visuals were average but who needs them in a fun level like this. Characters were spot on I love the crazy designs with great fun game play.

Only main thing is though is that you should block certain areas off, I kept ending up in a bunch of dark matter or the bottom floor, also add some arrows to give a player a clear direction were to go especially in that army base like area, too dark to tell where to go.

I gave it 4stars and tagged Fun.
