New project, already need help...

Archive: 7 posts

Yeah, yeah, here I am again, asking you guys for help. As most of you... probably don't know, I've started up a new level (series?) involving adventures and searches for legendary treasures. And, I need help already. See, for the start of my first level, I thought it would be cool to have a sort of parachute-from-a-plane sequence to set the stage, as opposed to just starting in the ruins to be explored. The problem is I don't really know how to make a good plane for this task. Here's the one I have right now:

Kinda lame, isn't it? You may not be able to tell, but I'm using a small balloon as a parachute, since I couldn't quite get the logistics of pink floaty down to a point where it was a viable alternative. But, that's not what this is about. This is about the plane itself. Is there any way I can make it a bit better-looking? The door in the back works fine, I just wish it looked a bit more... plane-like. Suggestions?

I guess this would be a good occasion to use the layer glitch for some wings. Or else, try making the plane 2 layers, so you have one layer in the front to put a wing.

And maybe use the corner editor to make the nose pointy like a real plane?

Oh, the nose is supposed to be pointy! That's why it looked so much like a spaceship! Thanks for that, maybe that'll help out.2010-01-11 20:37:00

If this plane is just for jumping down, I would use all three layers!
So let's start with the back layer. I would use this one mainly for decoration. Add a couple more seats, maybe the bag compartment on top and an emergency exit door. This is assuming that the plane is a commercial plane. Now the second layer is the one sackboy is going to use. I would definitely add a cockpit with a bunch of led's and controls, maybe even a pilot who knows! And finally, the third layer. As mentioned before, i would just use this one for the wing.

Other things to consider are following. Planes have a bit more of a 'belly' since the have to carry cargo and fuel. U can also add some rockets off-camera to add some wind. There's really tons of things you can do, it all depends on how detailed you want to get.

hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips. It might be hard to tell, but the plane is already three layers. The first and third have seats, and the middle is for using. I was considering not having the cockpit accessible, because that just seemed like too much work, but I guess I could try it out. I like the idea of adding the baggage rack and emergency exit. I'll see if I can manage that, as well.2010-01-12 21:31:00

You could also make it two layers, cover the front, put in some windows so you can still see your sackboy, and then have a door open when you come close, so you can jump down. I still think wings would be nice. 2010-01-13 10:06:00

That's a really cool idea, as well. Next time I hop on, I'll have loads of new stuff to take into consideration.2010-01-13 16:49:00
