Pirate decoration's

Has anybody else noticed how much of the thermometer is affected by most of the stickers and decorations from the Pirates of the carabbean pack. It's so anoying trying to create a good pirate level to have most of the thermo taken up by some decorations that are kind of needed to give it the right look. Have a go with a fresh level and use just 1 peace of dark matter and then place just one of each POC decoration, oh and don't forget the skull object to. Because that eats up a hole chunk to. | 2010-01-09 19:06:00 Author: second--smile-- Posts: 57 |
I also noticed the pirate decorations were unusually complicated. The first thing you can see is that loose materials are affected by gravity. If you take a look as some launch decorations, the fabric will fall in the direction you put it, however the fabric of pirate deco's will always fall down, no matter which way the deco is rotated. | 2010-01-09 20:33:00 Author: TheSeraphor Posts: 73 |
They may not be thermo friendly, but the POTC pack decorations are amazing! Especially the porthole decoration. I never use the MediaMolecule non material items though(like the skull, teacup, etc) They use up way too much thermo. | 2010-01-10 02:48:00 Author: RottenAvocado Posts: 319 |
Yeah it's not just the decorations either. Those new materials take up way more thermo than any others. The wooden one with the metal bands across it is particularly bad. Try putting a block of basic material in an empty level ( cardboard or whatever you fancy ) and then use the material changer tool to change it to the new one and watch that thermo shoot up !! | 2010-01-10 03:44:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
But the new materials are so amazing, too! The blue brick one is especially awsome. | 2010-01-10 15:52:00 Author: RottenAvocado Posts: 319 |

meh i don't mind that much i guess the reason why they waste so much is because they are more complex than the others.... | 2010-01-11 05:12:00 Author: rseah Posts: 2701 |
Go read CompherMC's thermo overview in the tutorials section.... many of the things mentioned in this thread shouldn't be a concern over the course of developing a level. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=16840 Keep in mind, there are actually many thermos and only the one that is most filled is displayed. So, the fact that an individual decoration takes up a bit more of the "stickers and decorations" thermo doesn't mean anything until you've filled up that specific thermo. And unless you plan on using MANY MANY different materials and filling up your material thermo, it doesn't really mean much if an individual material from the POTC pack takes up a bit more. | 2010-01-11 20:11:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
True, but I think what people are saying is that if you want to use all the PotC themed stuff in a level, your thermometer mileage takes a nosedive. I noticed I had to pick and choose which PotC objects to include in order to keep my thermo under control. Shame that so many didn't make the cut. | 2010-01-13 22:53:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
Wow, really? I haven't noticed...haven't done any "serious" creating for a while. I'll be wary about using too much of the PotC decorrations/materials now. | 2010-01-13 23:01:00 Author: GreyMRP Posts: 588 |
