Piston help please

Hey guys

Ok so im having trouble with a simplish concept of mine as i cant figure out how im going to get it to work. What i want is a piston to lower a grabable object in a custcene and stay there after moving a magnetic key object to the corresponding magnetic key switch. Then i want the piston to retract and raise the object into the air when the player grabs onto it (grab switch) and then stay at the top when it reachs its original position.

I've tried using two pistons one that extends when the key mechanism is activated and one tht retracts when the player grabs the object, however i can't get it tio retract as the key system is still in operation and both pistons need to be stuff for stability. Im stuck :S

Any ideas?

I'd recommend that the cutscene triggers a permanent switch. This permanent switch should be wired into an AND switch along with the grab switch. The grab switch should be inverted.

This will make the piston extend when the cutscene has been triggered and the player is not grabbing the object.

So before the cutscene and when someone is grabbing it will retract.


If you aren't used to using logic then check out the LBPC logic pack (search @logicpack in game). The beginner pack will have the switches you need.

Yeh ive checked out the pack it was very good and helped me with alot of ideas and designs and cleared up alot of things! Thanks for your help but by any chance could you elaborate a bit more on what you suggested as ive yet to publish a level so im fairly 'cough' noobish 'cough' . What he means is. You get a AND Gate you hook it up to the inverted grab switch, As well as the perm switch, so when sackboy isn't grabbing it and the perm switch has been activated, the piston will go down, when sackboy grabs it the and will deactivate retracting the piston2010-01-09 23:30:00
