This is now officially set to be released for 26th February.
Is anyone excited about this PS3 exclusive? I'm very interested to see how it turns out.

TBH I'm really unsure. It's too... different. At the same time I'm kind of tired of games within each genre being generally the same so it could be a refreshing change.

It kind of feels like the creation of a new gaming genre so that's kind of exciting. I'll probably try it, not sure if I'll buy it yet.

It's a movie that you get to play... I want one! Who doesn't want a movie that you can watch over and over and over again... but it will still give you a different ending.

I just hope it doesn't end up like inFAMOUS. You know, only two endings, but many different clips of your decisions. I really like for the movie to say "Oh no, you get food poisoning from McDonalds. You win the lawsuit against them!" Something like that.

I hadn't seen any gameplay vids for this until like 5 minutes ago and it actually looks really good

It just seemed like a really well written interactive movie to me. A lot of people criticise games for that but for once this doesn't look like it's trying to be a game, or rather the movie is integral to it.
It'll be interesting to see how flexible the story is with the massive amount of options.

Really the gameplay in this is the players own morals and situational skills, and if the story is flexible enough the game would be different for everyone that plays it.
Now i'm talking it through i'm getting pretty excited about this xD

I am somewhat interested. From the same people that made indigo prophecy which was a pretty good game with a lot of potential, if they really flesh out what they were touching on there it could be really worthwhile.2010-01-08 22:49:00

Even if this doesn't work too well it could at least spawn a few more games like it 2010-01-08 23:03:00

While I have no interest in playing the game I am curious to how it will perform at retail and what kind of impact it will have on the industry.2010-01-08 23:12:00

I'm excited about it! I loved the concept of Indigo Prophecy until it went all supernatural and you were doing Matrix style flips and all that. This is supposed to be more realistic, detective like story. I'm really looking forward to it.2010-01-08 23:24:00

From what I've read it sounds like there are many different possible outcomes, and every decision makes a an actual difference to how the story turns out, which sounds brilliant to me. I don't recall playing a game that's done that before, most are very linear.

My one reservation is that it probably doesn't last particularly long, certainly not a game you'll be playing for months, and as such I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay full price. I'll think about it though, very keen to give this a go as soon as possible.

I just recently played through Indigo Prophecy, and I have to say, the strength of that game just shot Heavy Rain to near the top of my most-anticipated. I can't wait to dive in to this game.

Here's what I loved about Indigo Prophecy - They include all these mundane, ordinary things in life that are never represented in videogames. By including this "stress" meter that's always going down as bad things happen - and bad things are always happening - you're tasked with keeping it up when you can, simply by doing the little things. Taking a wizz. Drinking coffee/gin/water/milk. I just LOVE that there are whole segments of this game where you play as a character in their city apartment, and that's pretty much that. You can watch tv, or listen to music (if you're in Lucas's apartment, for god's sake don't listen to music), read the paper, just basically hang out in the homestead. Rummage through the cabinets for food. I just loved this stuff, this really mundane realistic stuff, and being able to look out the window and see the weather, the street below, the other buildings. The fact that you can look out the peephole and there's hallway with other apartments with neighbors, who you get to know at one point.

I just wish it wasn't so linear, I'd love a bit more Shenmue style, a bit more exploration and freedom to go where I want.

The mundane stuff would also be far more exciting if there was something more unique about the world - for example, if it was like Deus Ex's world, more of an alternative future or something.

And finally, as Mr Super Computer stated, this game went WAY off the rails later on, becoming some laughable Matrix wannabe, out of the blue. As a "movie", Indigo Prophecy is a howler. As a game, it was full of some amazingly cool new ideas that I'd love to see in more games.

I am super-hyped for this. I love adventure games that break the mold and from the demos I've seen, this looks to be a highly emotional and immersive experience.2010-01-10 17:46:00

Yeah! it looks great! i?ll never use continues so i get whatever ending i EARNED(or got punished for...)
i think the first playthrough will be just AWESOME because the first time you wont have a clue of what will happen so you have to deal with the things as they come, solve them how YOU think you would do in real life and probably fail on some of them but that just helps creating a more unique experience for everyone

BUT on the posterior runs you will know what happens and will act different to the way you originally THOUGHT was the "right" or "best" way, so the playthrough will be a little less personal...
yep i put though in to this... because im hyped
good afternoon gentleman *walks out of the room*
