Can you die in Little Big Planet?

I think that your sackman, being your personal avatar, is probably immortal to a certain extent. The only real punishment that would affect that player that I can think of is the loss of accumulated sponge, so while sackman may well get the stuffing knocked out of him/her, I don't think he'll die. In a single player level you could have "death" simply be the level restarting. In a multi-player level, the sackman cannot restart, because then the screen would zoom out to show all sackmen, and on a large level everything would become super-tiny. You could have all the sackmen restart if one of them makes a mistake though. However, an alternative is for sackmen to be disqualified. So if the level needs the whole team to get from A to B, and one sackman drops/touches/gets hit by/falls off something and is disqualified, then the whole team could fail to win. An example could be a level where a sackman who has to traverse a waterfall level with a flaming torch in order to burn through a portcullis rope at the exit. If it fails, the sackman has to go back to the start of the level to relight it. With monsters, the monster could simply throw you off the walkway, so you fall back down to the start of the level, or touching them could cause him/her to drop sponge. I think that in a way it would take away the idea of trying to solve a puzzle to get to the end. Thats what the game is supposed to be about. Not trying to avoid dying while you finish it.
