Work with the tether or it'll work against you. all First off i have to excuse that i was pretty inactive the last couple of months. Posting a level after long absence here is pretty egoistic but hearing your opinion was too tempting after all. So as the discription already explained this level is all about the old jetpack this time. You activate things by placing it and some versions even shoot like the paintinator. As usual it only fucuses on gameplay and is held in VR-style. It's pretty hard too but it should be solveable with some additional tries. If anyone can give valuable feedback, i'll return the favour. | 2010-01-07 21:01:00 Author: Vanemiera Posts: 329 |

Cannot wait to try this out, I love the gameplay in your levels. | 2010-01-07 21:09:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
Wow, man! One of my favorite series'.... how did I not know you were working on this? Definately not egotistical to post it - will be playing this a bit later! | 2010-01-07 21:28:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Cub, I did'nt know he was working on this either, he's either been offline or a very sly dog doing it. He showed me the logic for the cluster in the OC beta, and it blowed my mind. I have no doubt this will be a a great level. | 2010-01-07 21:35:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Interesting gameplay mechanic, I'll have to check this level out :3 | 2010-01-07 22:10:00 Author: claptonfann Posts: 228 |
Ok, I didn't FINISH the level, but I played it for about half an hour.... My verdict so far? THIS IS THE COOLEST PUZZLE LEVEL I'VE EVER PLAYED!!!!! Wow... this level is TOTALLY packed to the brim with action and ingenious puzzles based around carrying cylinders attached to jetpacks through the level. I don't think I've ever seen such diverse gameplay before in a single level... but yet visually it's incredibly simple. The part I got totally lost on was the part with the 3 rectangle shapes attached to rockets and the 3 columns you need to raise.... but the funny thing is I JUST FIGURED IT OUT, AND I'M NOT EVEN PLAYING IT RIGHT NOW!! So later tonight I will go back in, get up to that point, and continue on. I've said for a long time that I thought you were one of the most underrated creators - your stuff is cutting edge and I hope quite a few people check it out. I gave it 5 stars and a heart! | 2010-01-07 23:34:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Hi Vanemiera! Just played your level. It was one of the most original levels I've played for a long time. Innovative, challenging and very addictive! I loved the variety of puzzles, and such a simple concept was thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately for me, I got to the room where you have to guide the small 'eyeball' through the maze, and it got stuck in a corner. I tried pressing the button again just to see of a new one would spawn, but it didn't. Maybe it was just a freak thing, and it was a shame because up to that point I was hooked. I will certsinly give it another go. Well done, though. Great stuff! | 2010-01-07 23:42:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |

Wow, this level is brutal! And I love it! I'm proud to say I somehow managed to make it through to the end on my first run, though I got a lousy score because I had too much trouble with the "shield yourself from plasma cannons" area. All throughout the level, every time I finished a challenge I thought to myself : "Whew, I made it through somehow, I hope this is the last one" only to then be confronted with another challenge, even harder than the last, it was great. All of the challenges were well thought out, unique and innovative. The boss at the end was a masterpiece, and I felt it was the perfect culminating point for the level. I think I was down to two lives when I managed to beat it. The only thing I feel could be made better is the part I had trouble with. I found the "shield" very hard to control while using the grab switch. Still, it's an amazing level, well worth :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart. Glad you've gotten back to creating! | 2010-01-08 00:26:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
3 rectangle shapes attached to rockets and the 3 columns you need to raise How do you do this part? I'm stuck with a ton of time left. | 2010-01-08 01:04:00 Author: zekeike Posts: 71 |
3 rectangle shapes attached to rockets and the 3 columns you need to raise How do you do this part? I'm stuck with a ton of time left. Heh... thats the part I got stuck on... but after I had to quit to leave for a few hours I solved it in my head... clue: look at the position of the thing you place the cylinder on.... and then look at where you need to go to.... how would you get up there? EDIT: Ok, I played it again and got to the final boss... Darn turning grab panel!!!!!!!!!!! You are evil, Vanemiera! I died right at the VERY END! No chance of an unlimited checkpoint right at the end? | 2010-01-08 02:34:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Alright, I played it and loved everything except for that 3 rockets/3 platforms puzzle. Everything else in the level just flowed smoothly (except for the big circle maze), and it was sad to see something that really ruined the flow. I spent a good 5 minutes figuring it out, and once I did it was a huge hassle to get everything lined up and in position. And then, wouldn't you know it, I hesitated on the very last jump in that area and fell, running out of lives. Too bad such a cool level left a sour taste in my mouth. I didn't play it again. | 2010-01-08 19:26:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
That's the section I lost it on last night too comphermc. Took a little while to figure out and then trying to get pinpoint control over those dang pistons is really hard... not to mention the jumps once you do manage to line up the things. Up until that point I'd had a few moments of head scratching but seemed to figure it out fairly easily. Then that area just sort of made all the flow of the level come to a grinding halt for me. I'm not criticizing it - it's just the point where It went from hard but incredibly fun to figure and work through to more of a I'm so lost, oh now I get it, well dang I can't get it to work right, electrocution death moment. Vanemiera - I do have to commend you for making a really hard level but it's so fair (up until that point I mentioned) and I loved working out where to go and what to do with that anchor pulling me down. Loved the consistancy of materials and how the sticker switch shows up after being missing for a bit in the puzzles and you have to remember, oh yea I can use the sticker switch. I'm going to finish it - after a half hour last night my brain couldn't take it and I ran out of lives on that rocket bit. Great fun up until that point for me though. 5 stars & hearted (on alt account - I'll get the Morgana one on it tonight) | 2010-01-08 19:47:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Okay, since everyone is having problems with that section, i'll add a unlimited checkpoint there. | 2010-01-08 20:33:00 Author: Vanemiera Posts: 329 |
I would suggest unlimited on that section and the boss.... mainly because the time investment is so great up to that point, that if someone loses all their lives at that point there is VERY little chance they will go back and play it again. Also, on that same part - it may help if you slow down the movement of the columns moving up and down. Even if you knew how to solve the puzzle, it's difficult to get them lined up properly. | 2010-01-08 21:10:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
I loved it, very well designed and great puzzles. Its great to see you back. Theres some really fiendish little ideas and puzzles in here, and although its hard in places, its most definetly rewarding to. We had a great time in it 3p, but I'm gonna have another play later on 1p to take more of it. I got stuck at the 3 platform section to. We finally got it right and then Morgana died with the last life . Adding that infinite life there will definitely help. Gotta commend you for making a level as hard as this, with limited life checkpoints. ***** and hearted. | 2010-01-09 12:26:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
you didn't say you where working on a new level! :o I want to play this level so bad :hero: | 2010-01-09 12:59:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
Hiya, I think this level is a great concept, extremely original and a very good mix of puzzles. I really enjoyed the 3 rocket puzzle but i can see why people might give up there. I think a clue that the door is open when the jetpack is back in its base might help. Sadly I didnt finish the level either..and I don't know if its a bug or if im thick. I'm just past the 3 rock puzzle with the shooty gun, and im facing a large electric rectangle with a 2 sided circle in it that i can shoot. I've got the double sided circle down to no lives but nothing has happened. I've tried rotating it by shooting but its not really working. I cant see how to turn the mag key at the bottom (i wondered if rotating the top circle would work) ...so great level but sadly i'm failing. If i failed because i cant solve it then its definately 5 stars Please could you F4F my 'in pursuit of the meddling magpie' level released sunday. thanks in advance adi and clarie | 2010-01-09 22:41:00 Author: TheAdipose Posts: 533 |
Van...Congratulation on the Spotlight! Man this level is totally awesome! You didnt say you were working on anything when you helped me. This is so cool I loved the puzzles! I know I was at the end twice and died and I am no fan of unlimted checkpoints but sure wish I had one there...that is alot of time to invest and a lot of work to do to start over from scratch! But still...I loved it! 5 stars hearted and a well deserved Tricky tag. But Long would have been my second choice. | 2010-01-10 04:38:00 Author: AJnKnox Posts: 518 |

I cant see how to turn the mag key at the bottom (i wondered if rotating the top circle would work) Oh well, you didn't do anything wrong. What happened is, that the back part of this unit sometimes disappears for no particular reason. The idea is that the circle rotates back and forward. One side moves the circle down there further towards the mag-switch and the nother side moves it further away so you got to time your shooting. Seems i got to rebuild this one from scratch... Please could you F4F my 'in pursuit of the meddling magpie' level released sunday. Sure, i'll give it a try. | 2010-01-10 14:56:00 Author: Vanemiera Posts: 329 |
I played it yesterday, and first, I'll say I really like the level's main mechanic. Goes to show to that there is still a purpose in the tethered jet-pack. There are some very nice ways you play on the usage of this mechanic throughout the level too. One way you used it which stood out to me was the paintball gun variant of ball and chain. I found the peg maze part really cool. Visually speaking, it keeps consistency well, but I think using different materials may have made a better visual impact. There are many levels using the metal gear materials (specifically, the VR metals). I did very much like the prominence of the gear sticker. It's a nice logo, and helped with giving the level an identity unto itself. I too had difficulties with the three rocket sled and three columns puzzle. I quickly figured out I needed to position the columns to jump across, but what stumped was the fact that I need to have the cylinder in it's holder, located a the start of the chamber. Additionally, I could not complete the level, because I died at the boss. I would advocate for at least a back-up checkpoint, or a checkpoint for once you're halfway through the fight. I do believe that will keep more players. I gave the level :star::star::star::star: with the F4F, if you could grab a friend to play against, try my level Happy Buddy Battle Show. thanks, and keep up the good work | 2010-01-11 11:49:00 Author: TheLawnStink Posts: 98 |
It's a great concept but the part with the large green platforms was extremely confusing. There needs to be a small hint there to tell players what to do because it took me about 30 minutes to figure it out. | 2010-01-12 03:43:00 Author: Sir Moops Posts: 18 |
Oh yes, and congratulations on the Lightspote! | 2010-01-12 14:23:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Made a mayor update today. The last three sections got deleted. Level is long enough without them plus they were just making problems or didn't fit into the level's mood. I also made the switches, which open the charmber doors more remarkable so THE chamber should be a little easier to figure out now. ... and finally added the ornaments so it doesn't look SO borring. | 2010-01-15 15:51:00 Author: Vanemiera Posts: 329 |
I will try it again. Tried it yesterday and got blocked where most remain blocked, the 3 sleds and 3 columns. | 2010-01-15 16:03:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
