Should I get a PSP/PSPgo?

Just wondering folks...

What games do you think make the PSP worth it? Anyone wanna help me decide whether to get the PSP or not? What's the story with the "GO" version?

*tempts*
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. If you are not a fan of KH, I cannot talk to you.. I kid, I kid.

I have an original PSP, I don't have too many games on it because I've been too obssessed with my DS for about two years :/. I just 'redisovered' it and plan to get a few new games on it

The PSP will give access to a nice selection of games that's for sure.
The "PSP have no games" is a tired prejudice.

About the "go or not", It depends how much you value portability. If portability is your ultimate priority to the point of not minding a smaller screen, smaller grip and losing UMD support, the Go if for you. Otherwise PLEASE AVOID.

Also keep in mind that by buying a PSP GO you also encourage consoles that are "Digital only" and at large you encourage "all digital era".

Thanks for the input Yes, digital only is not something I'm a fan of.

Never did play a KH game, will look into that. Right now the main game interesting me is probably MGS: Peacewalker, if that says anything about what I like.

Well, I have no idea what your tastes are like, but if any of these games interest you, then you should consider it :
http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?type=games&platform=1024&mode=all&sort=score&dlx_type=all&sortdir=asc&official=all
. Whether you should take the Go or 3000 depends on if the games you want are only available as UMDs and whether you prefer the features/layout of the Go.

Personally, I own the following games which I think are great :
Ace Combat X
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
Dissidia
Crisis Core
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
LittleBigPlanet PSP
Star Ocean: First Departure
Star Ocean: Second Evolution

As well as some others I think are pretty good, such as Sid Meier's Pirates!, Patapon, Field Commander, etc. I'm also looking forward to buying Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

So yeah, look around and see if there are a lot of PSP games that interest you, and if so you'll get more than your money's worth from the PSP.

Edit: Also, by using adHoc Party on the PS3 (which was recently released on the PSN Store in english) you can play PSP games that are "ad-hoc only" online with friends.

The PSP is great, I bought one at launch and have gotten every new model except the Go. I currently have a 16 GB memstick for my 3000 and mostly get games from PSN these days. There really is a great selection now, some of my favorites are Monster Hunter, Patapon, HotShots Golf, Tekken 5 DR, and Wipeout. The only reason I wouldn't get a Go now is the price, the 3000 is the better deal. HTH2010-01-07 20:46:00

For me the biggest PSP game is LBP. Crisis Core is cool if you like Final Fantasy VII, and there's a number of Metal Gear games. I haven't gotten round to picking up MG Portable Ops, and I hardly played MG Acid, which is kind of a card game in stead of action.

What I like best about the PSP is that, unlike with the PS3, you can easily fit in a few minutes of play, because you can suspend at any point and pick up where you left off later.

That is actually a really cool future that I never heard of before.

Unfortunately, I think I decided I'd rather get a new camera instead of the PSP. Just couldn't be sold on it in the end but the system does seem pretty cool. Thanks for all the help people, you all did make some excellent points and if I didn't need a new camera I'd likely go for it

This thread is now compact or dslr.

Heh. I do wanna go for DSLR, I have one of the first Nikon 8MP P&S cams and want something better... but in any case, even the worst current P&S is better than mine. Would rather have DSLR for ...well, all of it's advantages.

To be honest, not sure! I haven't put thought into this for some time but now the opportunity presents itself... I guess I'd want the best value for $200-400 or so... I think this has effectively been derailed enough to have a new thread. I'm so needy! ME ME ME 2010-01-08 20:51:00

I have 3 psps's now. With the Go you get around 4 hours of playtime. You can only change the battery by removing the back part and replace it. Apparently sony made it quite easy because the battery needs to be changed sometime. The screen is exactly the same as on the iphone so it's very sharp and has no ghosting like the older psp's. Still with a replaceable battery, hacking possibilities, better grip and lower price I'd get a 2 or 3000 model. I have the very first model and the go which I recently won. Can't complain when it's free. It rawks and I can't wait to play peace walker. Back to cameras?2010-06-08 22:31:00
