You want to become a ninja but the current ninjas at the exclusive ninjutsu dojo say you're too weak to be one of them! Show those guys what a ninja REALLY does to get accepted by infiltrating the dojo and speaking with the big cheese himself, Sack Sensei...!
all
Hi, I'm John PSN Fumo161. This my very first level EVER. It's got a bunch of cool things, traps, puzzles, and ninjas of course. It's the first of many to come. I have worked a week with barely three hours of sleep and school taking up half my days. I won't tell you what you do in the level but I will tell you this much, it currently has a :star::star::star::star: ranking and has exceptionally good tags. The level has some replayability so it's worth playing at least once. Give me maximum feedback and I will keep to my word about doing the same for your level. Have fun out there.

Heart me if you want. I get better every day and my publications only get better.

Updates:

The level went from :star::star::star::star: rating to a :star::star::star: rating yesterday and about 40+ people have played, 3 people have hearted the level. The tags that followed said "Complex" "Tricky" and "Frustrating".

Time Trial Mode-A New Time Trial mode has been added to the level. At the beginning you will see a sticker switch, if you want to play the time trial you will have to complete the level first, at that time the sticker is awarded to you. Play again and place the sticker and the trial begins.

Ninjas Retaliate Correctly-A mechanic that was supposed to know whether you were in disguise or not was not bolted correctly and upon inspection I found that it was actually on the ground doing absolutely nothing. Because of this players could go out of the disguise but the ninjas would not become alerted and attack the player. This has been corrected and the ninjas can now successfully detect your presence.

Sound Problem-A victory sound would play after beating the level, but if you moved back and fourth the sound would play over and over. This has been corrected and will only be heard once.

Renzi Falling Over-Fixed a problem where if the player ran straight through the sensor in which to make Renzi run, he would fall over. The sensor now has a higher range and it's almost impossible to knock him down. This is good.

Some Point Bubbles Not Connected-Some Point Bubbles were not connected correctly to give the illusion of floating. The ones that weren't connected would simply fall to the ground but the reason why this is bad is because on some parts the bubbles would be on lethal spikes, making it impossible to collect them without dying. This has been corrected.

Problems Yet To Be Addressed

-The Jumping Balance Poles Squish You Somtimes
On the area where you need to go on the poles and jump like a ninja to get to the winch platform will somtimes squish and kill you. This is because the material that pushes out to help you jump is small and moves fast. Because of this it may not sense your sack person. When this happens you go between the two plats and since the top part cannot sense you from below, it will automatically go back down, crushing you.
A way around this is to make sure you jump in the center of the poles and to jump early to switch layers faster and avoid switching into the poles.
I have not found a way to fix this, there is a way to, but it would ruin the point. I would have to make the material metal and have it go up slower so it detects you better. The problem is I'd have to make the platform bigger, which would ruin the whole point of taking balance into the Code of Ninja.

-Gas Bomb Activates Even When Player Is Discovered
In the area where you throw a gas bomb, if you got discovered by the three ninjas, they would attack you as expected but the gas would still go off, making it look like they attacked with shuriken and dissapeared in a puff of nasty gas. This is just detection problems and should be resolved quickly.

Conclusion:
If there's anything in the level you do not understand, try your best to explain where and what and I will do my best to add any kind of instructions or help. Suggestions are welcome and it would be greatly appreciated if you wrote a brief comment on the level.
Restricted Dojo 2 will take an estimated two weeks to complete but the time may change at any time due to difficulties I may encounter in the future.

F4F - Remember if you give feedback on my level I will go to the level you specify and give you feedback as well. We both win and we both learn what needs to improve, if anything.

I really like this level but there were some very frustrating parts that made me want to quite at times.

Start off with the good.
-I liked the story
-characters were good
- Disguise part was hilarious/ clever
- The jumping ninja that would throw stars was very original and fun

The bad
-too short, just as I was really getting into it, it was over. kinda disappointing
-very frustrating at times. You need more checkpoints, there were several times where I would die and have to go past 3 or 4 "hazards" again just to get back where I was before I died. It can be very frustrating.
-what is the point of that spinning ball right before the "run across the poles section"? I tried using it a few times but it only got me killed and then I would have to repeat the "drop down and grab the ceiling to avoid the avoid the spikes" over and over again. Eventually I ignore the ball and ran across but only after lots of frustration.

Like I said, I love the sense of humor and the challenge in this level, but when I have to repeat a challenge over and over just because I make a stupid mistake, it takes the fun away and just makes it frustrating. Please add more checkpoints.

As for the F4F, if ya get the time, check out my level ?true life: pacifist on helghan? (just click on my creations under my name, it is the only ?real? level I've made)

Thanks for the review, I will add more checkpoints.
If you can, could you please tell me the parts where you felt like quitting because there were no checkpoints, besides the run across the poles part?

Since I commented on the other thread, I thought I'd have a look at this. I can't really comment, because I had to quit at the first checkpoint. I couldn't get past the bit hanging over spikes followed by walking over cardboard, and while I don't mind a challenge usually, I booted up LBP to give my R1 finger some rest from Assassin's Creed 2, so I didn't feel like straining it hanging from the ceiling over and over again.

It has promise, so maybe if you put a few more checkpoints in I'll have another look some day.

Just played through, and Renzi was on his face when I met him.

The pillars mostly worked well, but I got squished under one because I landed a jump on the base once, rather than the top. I guess this is okay as a price of failure.

Your ninpo attacks were very inspired, and the jumping shuriken throwing guy was pretty well animated.

It seems like the moves, cutouts, and animation took up most of your time when creating. You're learning what I've learned: trying to go beyond platforming with ninja stuff is difficult. Which is probably why Mm didn't go much farther than that, either. But here's the problem: set design sells ninpo.

If you're going to throw a gas bomb, something in the level should show you picking one up. If you're going to drop junk on a ninja's head, the junk needs to look like it belongs where it is. Sort of like James Bond: if he's fighting dudes in a sewer, he's going to shoot a pipe. If he's in Dr. Evil Guy's lab, he's going to make a propane canister explode in someone's face. This makes moves more satisfying to pull off.

I don't really demand feedback, and I don't mean to suggest that what you've done isn't good stuff - it is. But I am stoked to see what you come up with if you keep working.

Only just noticed this. I wouldn't worry about it, this exact thing happened to me while trying to ace the Cursed Bay from Mm's Pirates of the Carribean pack.

Hey I really enjoyed your level. I saw that you were going for kind of a comedic route there and i liked the gas grenade part. I really liked the jumping shuriken guy, it seemed you put a lot of effort into that. I just have a problem with that spinning green ball. I tried to grab it multiple times and it just got me killed. Either move it or not have it there at all. All in all, you should definitely make a sequel to this but make it much longer than this. It seemed to end right when I was getting into it.2010-01-13 22:30:00
