"How to make good scenery" Tutorial videos - The Temple

Archive: 15 posts

Greetings Gadders!

This is our third scenery tutorial video and it's the most advanced one yet!

Our aim today is to show you some advanced scenery creation tips using the corner edit tool AND to combine it with gameplay ideas. So today for the first time we will start using switches and logic.

This tutorial is so epic it comes in 3 parts. This is definately a step up from our last videos so you should view them first....

The Cave (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=20529)
The Boat (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=20785)

...but this is what we are after today....

We'd love your feedback here.

Our first joint level is almost finished and you can see a trailer for it at the end of video 3. If you're interested in beta testing it and giving us detailed feedback, please let us know.

I hope you are also willing to try out my levels,
they are not puzzly like adiposes, but they should be fun enough to play trough.

I am thinking, maybe do a forest level next as tutorial..

also..
would MM "showcase" these tuts?

ill have to have a go of both of your levels, your very good creators.

Maybe you could do some sort of hightech/secret base/Urban tutorial

Though a forest sounds great

Really nice tutorial, I'm sure it'll be really useful for beginners. I wish somebody had done a tutorial like this when I first started out creating lol

I did learn a new thing which was that when you put fire on a piston it gets more fierce, that's an awesome effect. Thanks you two! Also, I can't wait until "In Pursuit of the Meddling Magpie" comes out, it looks very fun.

Another great tutorial,thanks guys.
Also very nice of you to make it available as a copyable level.
Keep them coming,I'm loving them.

I don't know what your plans are for further video tutorials,or if you have any plans for showing some really advanced techniques somewhere down the track [it might be beyond the scope of your intent], but one future tutorial I would love to see would be using the layer glitch for backgrounds.
Specifically on adding additional glitched layers and lining them up with a previously placed glitched layer background, and with the 3 playable layers in front of the glitched background[s]
I've read [and printed out] Teenbonesy's Layer Glitch FAQ [very helpful],but there is nothing like seeing the process done in front of you for somebody to fully comprehend the intricacies involved.

the scope of your intent], but one future tutorial I would love to see would be using the layer glitch for backgrounds.

I actually never used it before, adi did for his clouds in the magpie level we are still working on.
for the temple level it would have been nice to use it,
but a glitch is still a glitch, and I have no intention of rediong a whole level just because MM fixed the glitch.

also.. "3d" is the dumbest name ever for a glitch, especially since LBP is allready a 4d game.

3d means three dimentions (x, y, z axis)
4d means four dimentions (x, y, z axis, and movement)
since lbp allready has 3d objects moving.. its 4d.

so.. calling a glitch 3d.. is so... so... silly.. to say it nicely.

Luos, it's past your bedtime and your cranky side is showing. I will now use the phrase 3D glitch as much as humanly possible.

Thanks for watching our vids spooky. Really appreciate it.

by the way happy lbp-ers!

If you use one of our tutorials to create a level, make some screenshots of them and show them here! (or when for the cave, in the cave tutorial thread )

I would love to see what you have created being inspired by the tutorials!

Very good tutorials guys, the actual levels blew me away whan I first played them! Shame I can't copy them due to my lack of the History Kit and Festive Goodies

And I make a cameo in the first video at 4:33 lol.
