Teeter Hotter

Archive: 5 posts

Hey everyone. This is my first completed level, I guess. It's called 'Teeter Hotter'. It's a pretty basic survival challenge, don't expect anything fancy or groundbreaking. The object is to stay on the teeter totter above the fire and collect as many score bubbles as possible. My PSN is ItalyanStalyun. Enjoy! (Feel free to critisize, I'd like any and all advice.)

Here are some crappy pictures I took:

Hey fabioisonfire,

I just finished playing your level and I enjoyed it despite the very little time I spent on the board. I really liked the idea of balancing on the teeter totter, especially since you have to control the platform in addition to collecting the point bubbles. And those corks that throw you off balance...my my. I would love to last longer, but I think the teeter totter is much too sensitive to the weight distribution that it can easily be flipped over and cut the experience really short. And judging from the current scores of the level, most never achieve any high scores.

Did you try experimenting with the strength of the bolt to allow sackboy/girl to move about with more freedom and upsetting the balance less? You can also use a wobble bolt and have a logic mechanism to have it speed up and/or change the angle as the game progresses. However, while this may give you more control, it takes away from the fun of having to balance the board in order to survive.

Anyways, I really liked the concept, and I hope you can find a way to make it last longer...

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your input. This being my first level, I've learned a lot from making it, and all of those things you listed are definitely things I'd look at now. I'm working on a new survival challenge now, though (complete with a better look, design, and idea).

I downloaded this some time ago but didn't play it until just now. It's a good survival challenge with a fun mechanic, but as already mentioned the board is just a little too sensitive. Dropping the corks on the board are a very good idea, but I would wait a little longer before starting to drop them.

I gave this 3 stars and look forward to your next level. Oh, I just noticed Flock, so I'm off to play that now.

New High Score!!!

This game truly has a lot of potential as a mini game, I recommend adding things such as a psuedo-randomization, and an ability for it to last much longer.

If you do change and improve this I'll be sure to give it another go!
