Little big ark by Fry9182

This is my second level and this time i have work a lot. It took me about
2 weeks to complete this. Because i dont know how to create those incredible puzzles like some creators i concentrate on the visual side just like jeffcu28.

On this level you are in boat, but you dont know where and why you keep hearing animal voices. It has no story but it is enjoyable level.

i hope you guys like it

Hey fry9182,

Wow...just wow. That was a pleasant surprise. First and foremost, thank you for the acknowledgment, and second, platforming levels can be just as fun as levels that are a bit more complex, and this one in particular was an enjoyable, well-designed platformer.

The design of the ark looked authentic, and I loved how you incorporated the animals into both the decor and the gameplay. In particular, I liked how you played with proportions from the gigantic elephant and absurdlly tall giraffe to the bite-size mouse and mini fishes in the aquarium (that was my favorite area!). I also thought the ark had ample volume to explore rather than merely following a determined path...I really enjoyed the mechanism in the end where you had to grab a vehicle to access the extra points. Perhaps you can close it at the end of the track though as the vehicle falls out.

My other suggestions address minor issues. First, I really did not like seeing the generic wall and floor of the level. It took away from all the hard work you put into the visuals as they were distracting. Second, I didn't quite understand what to do with the ruby...was it suppose to activate something? Then, in the point bubble area to the left of the tiger, sackboy/girl gets stuck and one must burst him/her into smithereens to get out. And last, I found the giraffe-climb a bit frustrating. I know this isn't your fault, but sackboy/girl can't jump as high when s/he is too close to an object. Maybe widening the gap between platforms will resolve this? And once you reach its head, jumping from seagull to seagull is a bit tricky as sackboy/girl gets pushed to the back layer, and falling off is also a bit annoying. Perhaps you can put a checkpoint on top of the neck?

Anyways, that was an impressive platforming level, and you're hard work definitely showed. I'm looking forward to more levels from ya!

my hard work. I love your level bird of paradise and i?m very gratefull for your feedback and compliments.

your right there is some improvement in some places, but editor is so bug full that my psp tilt every minute when i try to do something. that wasn?t issue in the start. Maybe it got something to do with the thermo meter i don't know.
but i will try to fix those things. oh and by the way the ruby is just background and it has got nothing to do with the level it self. Mayby i will make it flat so it will not bother anymore

I have already idea for my next level and it will be unique as well.

Edit: I make some improvements. You cannot stuck in the bubble area anymore. Ruby is now flat. I move check point at the giraffe to lower, so you can try again if you fall down. and last but not least mechanism in the end will no longer fall down

Hi Fry1982!
I just played your level and i think its a nice one.
I like the visuals but in some areas the different forms doesnt fit into each other and you can see the background there. (I had problems with this in my new level too...)
There are some hard jumps to make but i thinks thats a plus. (New players could get stuck at some places...)
I think a story would have been nice. Especially cause i was walking around and didnt really know where to go or what to do. But maybe that just a personal thing.

Nice level and i gave it four stars.

thank you and i?m pleased that you like my level. There is some background
problems i admit it and i will fix that in my next work. I thought that story part too, but the ark itself is so full of adventuring that i deside to leave it, and beside i?m not a good writer maby next level then

i would love too hear some more thought?s of my level, so i can be come good level designer.

That was a very interesting level. You've got talent modelling animals and weird shapes, and using them as platforms. I enjoyed most of the level, although some points were too tricky (like jumping from seagull to seagull: maybe you should separate the giraffe from the seagulls with a thin layer of crystal, thus preventing you from falling again into the giraffe). Some spots could benefit from using custom cameras to show you the way you're supposed to take.

But overall, it was a nice level with many interesting ideas. Congratulations!

This level was a nice surprise. It's fun, colorful, and very creative. I love all the different cartoony animals as well as the overall look of the level. It's basic but well done, and I had a good time with it. I love the hugeness of the elephant and the giraffe, and the tiger is excellent - especially the claws. Your score bubble placement is very good as well. There are not too many and not to few, and they are just far enough off of the main path to make the level interesting.

Your gameplay elements are good and well thought-out, but they are not always totally obvious. I had some trouble figuring out the elephant trunk area. Figuring out how to make it move wasn't too bad, but I thought you had to go through from the left side, not up and over from the top. My other complaint has been mentioned already - the giraffe neck. Unfortunately this completely broke the level for me and I was unable to finish. Jumping from one seagull to the next turned out to be all but impossible. I know other players have successfully made this jump, but I'll guess that more people quit out of your level than actually finish it because of this alone. I gave it a good, honest 5 minutes of jumping at that one exact spot, and I fell down to the bottom of the neck maybe a dozen times where I would suicide to pop back up to the checkpoint at the top. Only once out of probably 100 jump attempts did I get sackboy to stay on the correct (front) layer, but then I missed landing on the small seagull. I was unable to replicate this no matter what I tried, so I had to quit. I'm sorry to say that this knocked you down a full star and kept me from giving you a heart. As much as it sucks to lose your play data, you need to fix this and republish. On the bright side, your ratings will be much higher as a result! I suggest either making a hole in the left side of the giraffe neck at that point and/or extending the notch in the neck forward to the front layer.

This level is entertaining but needs some tuning... I gave it 3.5 stars (rounded to 4 in-game) and no heart. Let me know when you've made your changes and I'll be happy to play this again.

Because some players thinks that giraffe neck jump thing is nearly imbossible i deside to change it littlebit. Now jumping to top is much more easier and that seagul to seagul jumping as well. I add some little changes to help to players and now they won?t lost so easy, but there is still that adventuring side.

I hope this level is much more enjoyable now. Have fun

fry9182, I played in old version of your level, without fixes and had two difficult places, that are mentioned by Taffey - jump from giraffe neck and to do elephant moves. But I did right jump after 15-20 times and 20 second of thinking about elephant trouble. And then I finished your level. Though, if do not mention this two troubles - level is very well madded and I played it with much interest, using animals are perfect and all design is very well-advised. 5 stars and stars of creator. I just replayed this with your changes and it's much improved. Of course all the same good stuff is all still there, but you did a great job fixing the trouble spots and I think the level flows much better. In addition to everything else I mentioned before, I love the exploration aspect of this level and I think you picked the perfect music.

I bumped you up to 4.5 / 5 stars (which rounds to 5 stars in game) and gave this level a heart. Great fun!
