comics anyone?

Archive: 15 posts

Hello fellow sackboys and girls. Just wondering who here collects comics? I never really thought of myself as a comic collector...I used to only read Amazing Spider-Man, but over the past several years I have gotten into many other books and have found I have quite a stack of comics in my possession.2010-01-06 21:10:00

I write comics, does that count? j/k

I collect manga comics, like Dr. Slump, Ranma 1/2, etc. I also am into stuff by Jhonen Vasquez, i.e. Squee and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.

I used to collect comics, but that was a long time ago. I collected super hero comics like Batman, X-men, etc as well as comic strips like Calvin and Hobbes. And even though I don't collect comics anymore, I still make the occasional trip to the comic shop and sometimes, I even pick up a book or two. I'm reading The Walking Dead series right now which is excellent. It kind of makes me wonder what else I've been missing.2010-01-07 14:52:00

I used to collect, from around like age 12 to age 18... have a few thousand in storage, where I can't read them lol my favorite series were Savage Dragon and Lobo.... but I also loved little niche stuff like Bone and Preacher (or what was niche then), and anything by Mike Mignola or Frank Miller. I always tried to keep up on X-Men, Generation X and Wolverine, but nothing else in Marvel really interested me. Read Spawn for a long time, and I actually liked Greg Capullo better than Todd McFarlane, and stopped reading it when Ashley whatever took over after issue 100 something. Was a big fan of the Cliffhanger stuff like Battle Chasers, Crimson, and Danger Girl, but those guys were so lazy and never kept it going (except Crimson).

...blah blah blah.

I can't confess to being a huge comic book collector, but I am interested in reading Doctor Grordbort Presents: Scientific Adventure Violence by Greg Broadmore.2010-01-14 16:17:00

It would sound as though I am the biggest reader here. I have been following comics for the better part of fifteen years now, not so much the superhero genres - yet that is the beauty of the industry. A lot of great writers and artists working on various projects.

What I am reading at the moment
The Walking Dead - any fan of Romero(or zombies in general) owes it to themself to read this.
Scalped - Dashiel Bad Horse is a Native American hired by the FBI to infiltrate his old reservation(which he departed from in his youth) and bring down chief Red Crow, a man who has his hand in all sorts of affairs: drug dealing, murder, prostitution, larceny etc.

I am also about to partake in Choker from the extremely talented Ben Templesmith, as well as carrying on with a few stop starts with titles such as Criminal, 100 Bullets and Fables.

Rise from the dead comic book thread!

Surely there must be more people on here who read comics. I'm a huge comic book reader and pick up TPB's and single issues. Currently I'm enjoying all the batman encorporated stuff, The walking dead and Fables.

So let's get some discussion going. All time favourite series?
