True Life: I'm a Pacifist on HelghanPacosanchez88
So this level is sort of based on Killzone 2 except instead of playing as one of the good guys, you are one of the enemies in the game, a Helghan soldier. Also, to mix thing up a bit I decided to tell the story from a different perspective, that of a pacifist. My hope is that people who have played Killzone 2 will recognize the environment and those who have not played KZ2 will still have fun. And don't worry, its mostly a platformer with story mixed in. Unlike most Killzone LBP remakes, there is no paintinator in this level. (and i think thats a good thing)

here are some pics

all

Edit: the Title of this level has changed to: True Life: Im a Paciist on Helghan: Ep 1 Part 2. I've finished the first level of the series so i had to change the name and description around so that it would make sense.

The description alone is enough to make me wanna play this level. Sounds like an unusual, clever approach to the killzone series. I'll leave feedback as soon as I've played it.2010-01-06 21:44:00

All right thanks. Any feedback i can get would be great. This is my 1st "real" level so can use all the help i can get. i have made other simple levels and tutorial levels but nothing thus detailed.

As a side note, the story in this level isnt very explained yet, but not to fear! The Prologue is in the works and that will explain the story A LOT more.
:kz:hehe i had to use this image, its just too apropriate!

a brilliant level all the way up til the end, however i kno this was the first in the series so it counts as the introduction but running top side just hitting switches and jumping across bridges wasnt as engaging as it could have been.

Although i read that u'll be adding dialogue i think it would make getting point A to B a tad but more interesting but every. I also had the problem of getting lost at times (As i do in KZ2) you portrayed the helghan home land very very well but the path wasnt clear at times and i found myself wandering at times.

All in all this was a wonderful board i defiantly hearted it just for visuals alone and the gameplay underground topped it off.

Thankyou, I appreciate your kind words and critiques. The problem I?m running into with these levels is trying to stay true to the source material, that being Killzone 2. Maybe I bit off more than I could chew with my first level being a first person shooter turned into a platformer

As I was saying, I can?t very well have giant sponge balls or trampolines since that sort of thing wasn?t in KZ2. Because of that, I feel like the game play doesn?t shine as much.

Does anyone have any ideas on game play mechanics I could add to future KZ2 levels (this one is almost overheating as it is) to improve the fun factor while still maintaining the KZ2 feel?

Gosh, what an awesome level. There were times where I was so frustrated with the all the places that I got stuck, or the many times I was burned by flames (by the way I still have no clue how to make single flames) that I almost pulled out all of my hair... lol

In the first part when you have to jump all the way to the top to low the switch so that the switch lowers the bridge was great, I liked the way that you set up the level so that it felt wide open, getting lost is part of the level I feel and that shouldn't change.
I Really liked the concept with the flames in the underground part, but it was so frustrating I almost quit playing. I thought I had the timing right and then I burst into flames, and respawn like a thousand times. While that part is challenging and the pistons made me pay attention, I was still getting killed left and right.

I really like the visuals and the set up of everything, very believable and the tone of your particular level is different from a lot of other War/ Killzone levels I've played.
Nice job.

I would work on the amount of distractions, there are a couple of holes that could just be part of the the wreckage, or they are out of place. I remember down in the underground part, right before the flames there is a hole, and 3 times I came out of the sackboy entrance and died, without touching anything at all... Try filling that hole so no unnecessary deaths happen lol

When swinging on all of the lamps over the gas I kinda think having the lights flicker on that part would be really cool.

I don't see anything that is truly problematic at all and I feel like your level is truly awesome

Keep em coming!
Oh I rated 4 stars, and I'll go back and play it again when I have the chance...

thanks for taking the time to play it. ill go back and check into changing a few things. im thinking about adding a thing that will give you a hint if you get stuck at the flame section for too long. but im not sure if there will be and room since the level is very close to overheating.

P.S. the Hint is "Usually, the safest place to stand is where a fire just went out"
hope that helps

I caught on to that after a while, but that last one is a doosy! I think the timing is a little wacky, and when I thought it was safe to go I would burst into flames again. I played the level twice, and I still was thrown off by the timing. A little hint bubble would be nice or a cut scene of some sort to make the movement of the pistons more visible.2010-01-10 04:13:00

Thanks for all the advice so far. i made a few lights in the caves flicker, and i also went back and added a Hint on a delay at the fire section. Hopefully it will help people that get stuck at that difficult spot. I also went back a made a few visual tweaks and simplified some of the logic. Thanks for all the support so far! 2010-01-11 11:15:00

Hey there

Thanks for you review of my level, The Aqueduct. Your level was a blast! The seemingly destroyed and old archetecutre was very well done, and the scenery was constantly well made. The caves were especially well done.

the platforming was alright. The jumps were well placed and well designed, but they were just jumps. In future projects, some platforming along moving and dynamic obstacles would make the level twice as fun. A good section was the one with the gas that set on fire, after openening the gate. more like this would have been awesome.

Besides that I have little to complain about. Only other criticism i can think of is that the level had little to do with KZ2 as far as i could tell. The level was fairly short, but I am looking forward to the sequel.

Thanks for the great level!
