Water Surgestions? (I got some!)
Archive: 25 posts
Who has surgestions for water? Because I know I have a few! Such as...Heat edit where the water level option is. Water thickness...etc. | 2010-01-04 21:04:00 Author: NeonFlame Posts: 6 |
I'm rather confused as to what heat or thickness would have an affect on with the current game system. care to elaborate? Also, i think this should probably be in the suggestions section. | 2010-01-04 22:19:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |

Would be kind of interesting if you could set water to be upside down, starting from the "roof" of the level instead of from the floor. Gravity-defying water ftw. | 2010-01-04 23:17:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |

Buoyancy. Thats all I want. Oh, and lethality. | 2010-01-05 02:30:00 Author: chezhead Posts: 1063 |
why not allow rain effects>? or water slides | 2010-01-05 08:59:00 Author: BlackThornDust Posts: 100 |
by thickness do you mean Viscosity? (as in how long it would take to swim through?) i don't see how heat would really affect the game play, unless it lowered your breath counter, The thing i want most is, SELECTABLE AMOUNT OF BREATH For the scuba suit, I don't want unlimited breath. i don't want 30 seconds of it either, I want to be able to choose how much air is in the Scuba suit, rather like the Paint Gun. | 2010-01-05 09:19:00 Author: Kern Posts: 5078 |
By thick ness I mean the thicker it is the slower the swimming, & by heat I mean...well for example 5 options: middle:normal temp top heat:burn up straight away bottom heat:freeze instantly between mid & top:less time under water between mid & bottom:also less time under water ...get it? (<--Not trying to sound threatening!:arg Edit: Also, you all came up with some realy good ideas guys! Do Mm look here for ideas? | 2010-01-05 14:51:00 Author: NeonFlame Posts: 6 |
Do Mm look here for ideas? They're not allowed to take ideas from us: "Although we know you've all got great ideas for our game, to keep the world's lawyers happy, we're not allowed to look at any you send and have to stick our fingers in our ears and go "la-la-la-la" everytime someone tells us a cool idea." | 2010-01-05 19:40:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |

So... Surely it's best not to post ideas here then they can add everything to the game? | 2010-01-05 19:50:00 Author: adlingtont Posts: 321 |
why not allow rain effects>? or water slides I was more than a bit disappointed that they didn't give us the opportunity to add flowing water. Real waterslides, water pools, and waterfalls would have been awesome! | 2010-01-05 20:49:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
I'm realy realy anoyed now because of all the ideas that'll go unseen! | 2010-01-05 20:56:00 Author: NeonFlame Posts: 6 |
water should have been a building material. That would the things Thegide listed, and more. I too would have liked to see water have different thickness. I even had a level idea where you would be on rafts made of waffles, floating through syrup, fighting pancakes. | 2010-01-06 06:05:00 Author: TheLawnStink Posts: 98 |

They couldn't have made water an object because it would be much too complicated. It would make the game lag and also tak up loads of space on your Hard Drive I'm afraid. :/ | 2010-01-06 09:26:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
They couldn't have made water an object because it would be much too complicated. It would make the game lag and also tak up loads of space on your Hard Drive I'm afraid. :/ Well not so much the hard drive, it would just be some algorythms but the physics engine would die a fiery death quite swiftly. Real water physics are a really tough nut. I don't think I've seen realistic flowing and "pourable" water in any game, and if they can't make it word scripted they totally won't get it to work (stable) in a world like LBP | 2010-01-06 10:31:00 Author: Wyth Posts: 263 |
Wait, why can't MM take our ideas? That's not fair... | 2010-01-06 14:47:00 Author: XOAcireXO Posts: 57 |
There must be a good reason why MM didn't do it in the first place but I would love to see the ability to make puddles, ponds etc... instead of having this solid level thing. | 2010-01-06 18:15:00 Author: Draden6436 Posts: 297 |
To add to my original idea, it would be interesting if we had control of the water angle. This way not only could you turn water upside down, you could also make it go down or up at an angle or place it sideways, etc. | 2010-01-06 18:35:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
Two words: directional waves The water physics are already set to handle this. You can generate directional waves when you drag an object across the water surface (i.e. like a moving boat). Currently the "waves" are a slight rising/falling of the global water level, but it would be really neat if you could derive waves like the above artificially, and in a more dramatic fashion. Whitecaps are probably out of the question, but I dream of implementing surfing-like physics where waves can push objects side to side as well. On a side note, I might have to experiment and see if I can build a wave pool... | 2010-01-07 00:03:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
I wish you can CHOOSE where the water can be, not just the height of the water. | 2010-01-07 01:26:00 Author: Unknown User |
Water skiis anyone? | 2010-01-07 04:56:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
Water skiis anyone? I think that would be possible! Well offcourse not as equippable like the paintinator or something but the dynamics surely support that. I made a turtle that had roughly the shape of an inverted wing, which when dragged through the water, sunk like a rock. Was a bit of a bother, but fun to see how the physics work. | 2010-01-07 07:36:00 Author: Wyth Posts: 263 |
At first I thought that water as a material would have been great so that you can put the water anywhere you would like to put it. Like filling buckets, swimming pools, dramatic waterfalls and such. Right now the only thing that can be done is artificial waterfalls, and rain... Now if someone can figure out how to make the waterfall look natural, then that would be rather cool. I've seen some fake waterfalls that were amazing, maybe a mixture of both would be even cooler... who knows now I'm rambling... | 2010-01-09 19:26:00 Author: XOAcireXO Posts: 57 |
