**This Level is Now Published!!**

Hey everyone, it's finally done! I've been working on this level since August, and am thrilled to finally be able to share it with the world. Without further ado...

http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/4260/allmineteasercopy.jpg

---

This level was inspired after playing through all the Canyon-Themed levels from the story mode, and I thought I could probably emulate MM's style. I feel like I've done pretty well with it, while maintaining my own particular flavor. My design was heavily inspired by the great creators in jackofcourse, grantosUK, mrsupercomputer, and rtm223. You should notice that this one looks vastly different from my previous work... but in a good way. This is surely a high-score-chaser's type of the level, so if that's your particular drink of tea, give the high-score a run. I predict a possible top score of 90k or more.

Now, with video! (thank GreyMRP!)

Special thanks to all my testers, especially mrsupercomputer, who spent several hours in create mode with me, tossing ideas back and forth (yeah, I know it doesn't flip, I'm sorry!).

I hope you all play it and have a blast.

Looking forward to playing it later today... this level is HUGE fun and I'm going to shoot for a decent score tonight. Incredibly well-thought-out design, one of the most fun boss-chase sequences I've seen, and some original ideas I had not seen before, such as the "laps" section.2010-01-04 16:37:00

Will definitely have my play through later and be back time and time again no doubt. Highest rated page material for sure.

Nce promotion too...been meaning to do that myself for about the past 3 levels but just never gotten round to it!

Alright, guys, it's up. There are a few things that I'd like to tweak yet, but I can't see on my parents old TV. It's so frustrating!! I will hopefully be able to find a decent TV tomorrow, but the level should be in complete working order.

Cheers.

This level is soooo good it's ridiculous. Seriously, I am jealous at what Compher has done here. The level design is outstanding with tons of point combos, sweet jumps, and inventive gameplay ideas. You'll also find yourself traversing the same area in multiple ways as new paths open up and take you to areas that your weren't sure how you'd reach before. See a lever but can't reach it? Don't worry, you'll get to it eventually, trust me. It's just so fantastically designed.

The visuals and character designs are great as well. The little details like arrows popping up to remind you which way to go, the spelunker slowly climbing his rope, and the drill.. oh my the drill! All are wonderfully done.

As for gameplay, the level is filled to the brim with variety. There are basic jumps yeah, but then it starts getting mixed up with the ceiling grabbing, mine carts, races, puzzles to solve, and a chase scene! And all are woven together seamlessly into one cohesive experience. I think my favorite sections would have to be the race which is especially fun with two or more players (Compher and I had some good times trying to outdo each other) and the chase sequence at the end. The chase.... well I won't say anymore. Just go play it.

Overall, the only thing criticism I have is that the drill doesn't flip at the end... sorry, I just had to tease. Seriously though, I have no criticisms of the level. It's been tested and polished to perfection. I absolutely love it. Well done.

5 stars and a heart but I'm stuck where you're dragging the heart with you. The guy says it's his heart and fires a missile at you. Things go boom and then what? I died - respawned..go back to the heart but it's stuck down there in the background. Was it supposed to fall down through a hole?2010-01-04 18:28:00

I have fixed that issue I believe. Grant had the same problem. You weren't supposed to run from the rocket (why is everyone doing that! lol). The rocket should no longer be able to kill you. If you guys still manage to break it, I'm going to have to speed the rocket up, which would be a huge hassle (seeing as it's an emitted rocket attached to DM via a piston).

Sorry you guys had so much trouble. After playing it so often, I didn't think people would run into the exploding rocket, lol. What actually happens is that he misses you. By running backwards, it allows the rocket to kill you.

It should be all fixed now. Hopefully.

I have to admit that when you first showed me the race sequence I thought it was pretty good. ..then you stuck an entire level around it and made it freeking phenomenal!!

Wow... great story, great visuals, great lighting (especially so on the intro), cute intro. AMAZING PLATFORMING! Great level packed with secrets as well as bonus jewels for the race. I can't recall what I like the best on this as it is total overload of goodness. I think I have to agree with mrsupercomputer in that I am horribly jealous of what you have done here.

Instant classic!! Bravo!!

Now stop it!! LOL!!

50 stars and a 5 hearts!! ...however minus one star for not having water LOL!! Just kidding!

Great job!

I bit the bullet and just had the lower checkpoint activate. If the person jumps into the rocket, they sort of miss out on what the heck is going on, but they shouldn't get stuck anymore. I was getting too many "annoying", "rubbish", and "ugly" tags, lol. I very much dislike Cool Pages. (So much for highest rated, huh Jack?)

I played this earlier today. To say the least I was very impressed with the visual style. The old mining facility reminded me of Setbacks and Hungerman.

It's a shame all those negative tags have popped up. With all those infinite checkpoints I don't see how anyone would have trouble finishing the level.

Great job nonetheless.

Oooh, definitely going to have to check this one out. Judging by that very nice promotion picture you have got there it looks amazing! Looking forward to trying to beat everybodies score on this

It's been quite a while since I've played a good Canyon-themed level, it looks like the mine from the story mode but with awesome lighting effects.

Well, I've got to say that this was awesome. Everything was top notch. The cavern was beautifully designed, using all the three layers to the max, I've actually deleted some of my new level tonight because the back tracking absolutely blew away what I had. I'm gonna have to up my game I think.

Hunting for the secrets was great fun, and although I missed a few (and a couple I could see) I'll be back to find them all. The point combos were excellently strung together, the race was very well designed and implemented.

The chase was awesome, requiring quick fingers and a keen eye for those combos. The two secrets I missed I only noticed when I'd past them

I had the missile problem, but you sharp fixed it.

Easily fits into my top 10 levels compher, its awesome.

It appears that there was a problem with people being unable to finish the level because of the rocket scene. They tried to run away from it, and instead it blew them up. This rendered them stuck. It's all fixed now, but I'm sure there were several people who quit out of frustration at that point. Else, they must have struggled with some of the jumps. I 'unno. Thanks for your comments!

I can't believe people would leave those tags. It baffles me. I mean, yes, the jumps are tricky, but only if you are trying to hurry (like during the race!). I think some of those tags are probably from people jealous of your mad skillz!

I don't know where to begin...this level is a real gem. The intro was beautiful, the use of all 3 planes was brilliant, loved the ducts/vents and the unique beige grab rings and such. My initial reaction to a 3 lap race was wtf this will get old...but it was great, each lap was slightly different. The chase was epic, grewat fun trying to grab the score bubbles. The many fire pits gave lots of opportunity to recover, so it wasn't frustrating...great great platforming.

I took care of that rubbish tag, unfortunately tricky was easiest to bump...I really didn't find it at all tricky. I had to pause for a second after the crane hook, but the chunk that falls is a pretty strong clue.

Stellar work! If you get a chance it would be great if you could give my latest a go, The Wizard of Time and Space...it's also had it's share of rubbish tags...I really don't know what's up with the community these days. Even if they got stuck on your level, it's no excuse, just the intro scene deserves better than rubbish!

Oh yeah, goes without saying, 5 stars!

@fullofwin - I'm glad you liked it and thank you for the 'tricky' bump. All of my real levels go Beautiful/Brilliant/Tricky, so I'll take it! Haha.

I'll gladly check out your level! I've been a big fan of your work for quite some time. Beware the Jabberwock was awesome (it should have won!).

Just played it, and as expected, it's awesome!

Visually beautiful : few materials chosen with taste, clean shapes, nice lighting...no need more than that... it's just great!

Gameplay is close to perfect : good balance of difficulty, the layout is very well designed and optimized, some nice platforming ideas...
Everything looks really precise, smartly done and the whole level just run smoothly..! I didn't encountered any problem!

I just have wished there was more mine car rides... lol (I always loved mine car rides...)

I gonna replay it for sure, as I didn't manage to find the secrets (just 1 for now ) but it will be a pleasure!

Great work really!

Yes, yes, I'm listening! In fact, the twinkle was driving me insane because I knew the prize was right behind the door, but I didn't know about the gems! I thought you might have been using some kind of timer and that I wasn't beating the race fast enough. The other two are close to the beginning as well... assuming the lights on the secret scoreboard are any indication of the order in which you find them.

You and me both! The plan was to end the level with the player riding in a mine cart, being chased by the drilldozer. Sadly, I couldn't make it work and fit everything into the thermo.

I'd be happy if you can play my new level, if you find some time!

It's #2 on my to-play list.

Thanks again.

Haha. I think I know which one you are missing. It's the second light, correct? Or is it the fourth? Both of those are very well hidden... About the gems, those are pretty well hidden too, and they do slow you down a bit. I think it is worth it to actually get all the secrets.

The lights are mostly in order, but I got all confoozled when wiring up all the secrets in the facility area. Everything outside the facility is in correct order.

Edit: Hey mrsupercomputer, your score is WEAK. Check this out: [95,609]

http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/3867/hpim0718m.jpg

Don't worry, I did it on my moon, you still have the honors. And to anyone who I was complaining to about the quality of the TV I was on for the past couple of days... yes, that is the quality of picture that I had to finish my level with (this is at night without glare!). Everything was a **** guess! I don't even really know what the final version of the level looks like.

But anyways, I died twice. Once during the 3-lap race and once [stupidly] at the end. A perfect run will get you close to 110k, which I intend to do one day. I lost 5k in the last minute of the level... *facepalm*

First one to break 100k gets 1000 xp!! (Edit: Shadowheaven cracked the century mark. Nice job!)

The secrets really are hidden well and I'm pretty proud of the group I was with. Managed all but one and I think I know where we missed it. Must play again - tcha like I wouldn't anyway! Awesome experience Comphermc... and I LOVE your firey lighting - looks great with the wood. This one makes my top 10 for fun to play for sure! 5 stars & hearted and I WILL be back to play it again.... just don't look for me on the top of the scoreboard anytime soon 2010-01-05 08:31:00

Hello there comph! Played this last night...

It isn't very often that a level of this calibre comes along. It had style, secrets, combo opportunities, a great race and playability in droves. Highly addictive, and very polished - this is one I will be visiting again, as the only thing that really disappointed me was my score!

Very well done.

Loved this comph, its ace!

Brilliant layer work, its beautifully designed. I'm in awe of anyone who utilizes the layers as well as you do here, there's no hitches or snags when you play through, it's effortless and instinctive, no mean feat when theres so much transitioning going on. The combos are well placed, the jumps and platforming keep you on your toes and wow, that chase scene is awesomely done, it looks superb. Tons of clever little touches abound, you can tell the amount of work and polish you put into this.

It seems churlish to offer any suggestions but for what its worth, amongst all those deep reds and browns, the white sponge looked a little out of place to me, but thats purely an aesthetic opinion.

Its a corker!

Woah that was incredible, you did a great job, as usual; the only problem I met was in the section where you fall down, at the end of the mining facility: while falling, I stopped in the mddle and after a couple seconds I died, squished by something - when I got back to the checkpoint, it was all dark and I had to restart - other than that, the level is a masterpiece, I had a lot of fun playing it - I have no idea about how you can manage such high scores, since I found all secrets while acing it (love the drilldozer) and got almost 86k+

The three lap race was great, I was a bit skeptical at first, but I changed my mind quickly; I agree with julesyjules about the white sponge, It looked out of place for me, too

Overall 5/5 and hearted, tagged fun.

If I may ask, how does the secrets' bonus work? I can hear the bubbles, but I don't see them.

... but I'll be back for more...

For some reason I keep trying to make you a 'logic-guy' in my mind...

That would be so very unfair. Your true powers reside in all things creating.

Your Character design is awesome!!!! Your mine carts perfectly balanced. Your art stlye, although self-admittedly inspired by Mm's canyons, go so far beyond it is not even funny. By the time I reached the abandoned mining facility I was drooling at the simple brilliance of it all. And the 'DESIGN' of this level is the best I have ever played. In perfect harmony with the 'play' and 'innovation'... (can anyone say spinning circles?)

My anticipation kept growing as I wondered, "How am I going to get there? ...Oh, where's this going to lead to? (quickly followed by) ...How the heck did I get back here?" Excellent level. By 'excellent level' I really mean 'Ducking Awesome' ya know? Oh, and did I fail to mention a tasteful sense of humour?

That is so weird. You must have gotten horribly unlucky with the falling pieces. I didn't think it was possible for them to get stuck. I really have no idea how it happened, seeing as I've played the level 50+ times and have never heard of that happening, haha. Were you pushing either left or right when you fell??

I had a lot of fun playing it - I have no idea about how you can manage such high scores, since I found all secrets while acing it (love the drilldozer) and got almost 86k+

How does the secrets' bonus work, if I may ask? I can hear bubbles, but not see them.

You aced it!? Nice. I have yet to manage that. About the score, it's pretty dependent on how quickly you can get through the race and how well you string together combos during the chase.

When I got 96k, I had well over 50k at the conclusion of the 3-lap race and I managed a x20 and x12 during the chase. It was far and away the best I've done in the area. There are certain paths that allow you to get the highest possible combos throughout, but what would be the fun in divulging that!?

About the points, I am emitting creature brains off-screen. I took a block of dissolve (or whatever) and attached several creature brains to it. I paused the game, inverted a one-shot magnetic key switch, stuck it to the block, and wired it to the brains. Capture this object and emit it at .1 second intervals for short duration. When the "creature" is emitted, the key will kill it, giving you points.

Viola!

For some reason I keep trying to make you a 'logic-guy' in my mind...

Oh, there was plenty of logic, but the beauty of it is that y'all don't notice it. For example, does anyone notice that if you run too fast during the chase scene he'll speed up to gain ground. Or if you die, he will slow to a crawl so you don't miss too much? The chasing checkpoint is tied into the same system. Also, both chases use the same drill! I was pretty happy with how it all worked out!

Thanks for your kind words.

I already knew about the brain emitting, I didn't know that they sounded like bubbles :o
EDIT: I just tried it, the only sound I can hear is the one of dying brains; I asked because in your level you can hear bubbles, not brains

About the fall, I was in mid-air when the floor collapsed, and I was probably pushing right - you mean I managed to stuck all of the metal pieces while falling? How lucky

I'll be playing it again sometime to have a look for secrets. Somehow I didn't find any on my first playtrhough, so they must be pretty well hidden!

The cool pages are a total failure, sad to say, but it's the truth

Published a rubbish level with a round wheel firing paint and a rocket cheeta in water, and it got 5 stars, whilst my fun, competitive versus level gets a 2 star rating. Either because people manage to miss the +2 players in my decription of the level, or because of jelousy.

It seems like ''fun'' levels always get high rating, while most of the serious levels gets dragged down by people who doesnt have alot to do.
Atleast that's my experience.

Awesome Awesome Awesome. Every jump, every grab, every little action sequence is done to perfection. It feels so good to finish it and I nearly cried () when I missed a secret.
Chase scene is awesome.
Visuals are immense.
Great gameplay moments
Fun for all the family

I brought the heart over to where I get the points for giving to you and when I exited the level I noticed it didn't register so I gave two stars for the dud heart.

BTW, I had a similar experience to Shadowheaven. At the point where you are meant to fall down out of the facility, I died and ended up back in the facility in darkness and with nowhere to go. Not sure what I did wrong but it worked fine on a second play through.

Needless to say 5 stars and a heart!

Oh, and some advice my mate! You know where you pull the first heart out? Behind it would be a pleasant spot for another secret.

I would do that, but if may mess with the current top scores and it would have to replace one of the other secrets (12 seems like a nice number, and I can't add any more lights).

I got 1st with 92.543 points - the chase section is probably the part that I'm doing wrong, since i can manage to get only a 15x with the 2nd secret :! I'll try again tomorrow.

Yeah, there is a perfect path and it's not necessarily intuitive. I may give a hint in another couple of days.

Does it flip?

You can make it do whatever you want when you win it.

1000 experience for over 100 K? Well, I pwned your score on subterranean setbacks, so let's see if I can beat you at your own game

Good Luck.

Weird. I have no idea why it does this. I may have to switch activate the checkpoint, which I don't really want to do... Or maybe I can add another checkpoint right where it collapses?

---

At any rate, I changed a few things with the rocket scene. It should seem more intuitive now that you have to go down instead of try for the leap.

Thanks for playing, everyone.

I just noticed that during the 2nd lap, the wall with the checkpoint sometimes tries to squish you; about the rocket scene, good work!

EDIT: I just got stuck and squished in the fall again xD

EDIT2: Just scored 101.246 points Comph, I won another contest of yours

For example, does anyone notice that if you run too fast during the chase scene he'll speed up to gain ground. Or if you die, he will slow to a crawl so you don't miss too much? The chasing checkpoint is tied into the same system. Also, both chases use the same drill!

Whaaaaaaaa????? That's sick! I didn't notice that though, when I saw the miner I was like OH **** RUN! I went so fast that the camera didn't let me see what was before me, I had to just guess since he was so far.

This level is so polished it's ridiculous. The backtracking is awesome. All the innovative gameplay was great. If any level deserves to be on the Highest Rated, it's this one. 5 stars! And I tagged it Springy by mistake since it was under Brilliant and I pressed Springy instead O.o . Sorry..

Nice job, Shadowheaven! I will be sending your XP shortly. Did you get the x20 combo during the race? I'm thoroughly impresssed either way.

I have just published again with a fix for that squishing problem. I tried over and over to get stuck, but it just wouldn't do it. How far down did you get squished you think? Either way, the switch that causes the collapse now triggers the checkpoint at the bottom. I didn't have time to run through the whole level (got booted from the TV, y'see), so hopefully I didn't break anything.

This has to be my favourite level by far at the moment!
Everything just runs so smoothly and it's super polished, i wish i knew how you did it.
There's soo many good moments in this level, and all the backtracking is almost too clever

I think i only found 1 secret on my first playthrough, look forward to going back for the rest

Great level Comphermc! Finally had the chance to play it.
I have no cons with this level really, it's super well done. I like the attention to polish you had there. Everything works, it's enjoyable, it's easy but not boring. You just pulled off like the best chase scene in a freaking while too!

I found all the secret except 3. My first escape race what a total fail, I think I saw the 3 secrets there. Looks like the bell sound is becoming the norm for when we find a secret now. I wonder who did it first around here.

Anyways, this smells spotlight much.

I'm just being honest actually. Even if I like you, that you're my friend or something, even if you'd be my brother, I rate the same.

I gave it 4.5 stars here because I can. I mean, 4.5 means it's mighty excellent. If the level on top of being something extremely fun, beautiful and polished did something truly original that made go wow or if you make me play something I never played, you get 5 stars from me. This means "you're exceptional and with a +"

However, in-game I rate 5 stars way more easily. All Mine was an EASY 5 stars. No hesitation at all.

I'm not so sure... I was talking to Morgana25 the other day and they decided not to spotlight it because there's too much red wood.

Looking at the screenshots uploaded on the level, seems that someone managed to get stuck behind the grid in the basement of the mining facility (I thought that switch was permanent, but I may be mistaken) and someone else managed to get on top of the level, looking at some logic. I made a couple plays with the intention of breaking it somehow, and the only thing I managed to do is to take a look at the logic at the very beginning of the level, simply jumping to the right 2010-01-06 18:12:00

Yeah, I have no idea how that person got out. Oh well. About the grid, see below. Now... quit trying to break it!

Amazingly great level once again, compher!

Beautiful visuals, great gameplay, nice visuals, and classic platforming make this nothing short of a fun level!

That's all I really have to say! Those few words sum up the whole thing! Great work!

:star::star::star::star::star: and a healthy, fully functioning heart! (My attempt at humor)

Always looking forward to the next work!

This level went under my radar since I'm not here 24/7 anymore, and I saw it only yesterday when I wanted to join comphy.

The level is awesome, it's fun, it has the right level of difficulty, it doesn't seem to be tech full like Aperture Science, but it's more subtle, more polished and way more refined.
The visual style is top notch and it reminded me of subterranean setbacks more than everything else, I actually think that All mine is Subterranean's twin.

Anyway, this level is a pleasure to play nd to see.
Great stuff!

Hey Comph!
U gotta tell me when you release this levels! I tested it, but had no idea you had published it! I was just browsing thru the Cool Levels page and BAM here it is.
As I said it before, I am extremely impressed with this level! I guess I can say I have a bit of experience with caves, but you took yours to a level that I didn't know existed. The first thing that caught my eye was the ingenious material selection. Even though it's wood, this level has a very organic feel to it. Every visual aspect from it flows perfectly. Excellent job! (finally someone else can help mrSC with caves! lol jk! ...he's probably gonna delete this..lmao) Another thing that I have to highlight is the pace. A lot of creators (myself included ) don't take into consideration the flow of the gameplay, and you my friend have become a master at it. Every jump is precisely tweaked with perfect angles and jumping gaps, to make the level flow perfectly.
I haven't played it in a while, so I don't want to leave anything out. One of my favorite things about this level is the little details, such as the vent ducts, the centerless thingys and the floor that unexpectedly crumbles. And obviously the ending!.. but I don't want to ruin it..

Definitely a must play if you like..well...um.. anything!
5 starts & heart (when I play it again.. lmao)

Thanks for all the feedback/banter, guys!

I'm waiting for this level to finally take off... it's on page 2, but still has relatively low plays, so here's hoping it picks up some speed. If not, oh well. I had fun making it and the feedback you guys give here makes it all worth it.

There's a level escaping, logic-peeking glitch at the intro; you can go into the "by comphermc" hole if you nudge your way into it, and the dark matter barrior won't stop you, and then jump down but get to the left of the gas.2010-01-09 00:33:00

1st let me say it is an honor to be in this periods Spotlight with you!

As for my thoughts on your level...

Holy Moly!

Man is this good...from the awesome intro to the twisted maze of an enviroment you made, i found myself saying "@D?& Cool" a whole bunch!

You bountiful secrets were well hidden and the chase sections blew me away!

You did have a few nail chewing, remote throwing, curse inducing bits of platforming elements...but they gave me great satisfaction...once I'd fought the desire to give up (which is something I never like to do!)

All in all: Thank you for makeing something so fun to play, and so pleasing to look at!

5 stars Hearted and Tricky

OK - Sorry for coming late to this party, but I only just got my PS3 back home (man, what a long week that was).

This level is utterly fantastic. So simple and elegant, yet incredibly complex and intricate all at once. That's not an easy thing to pull off. Your use of layering, backtracking, visual teases, and multi-path options was brilliant. Let me say that once again for emphasis... brilliant!

I've not read through this entire thread, and I know that your week is up on the cool pages... you've been spotlighted, and you already know that you're a genius... so what more does one say?

I am not worthy!

Seriously... great job. I really need to go back and play it again, because I'm sure I missed stuff (and because it's just that fun to play).

Dear me, it would take me a year to create a something this polished... what can I say, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G level, easily fits into my all-time top 5. Excellent platforming, loved the idea of having to traverse the same course 2.5 times, I love seeking out secrets and hidden rooms, and the way you add the points after one of those cylinders is grabbed is the best point system I've seen in any level yet. Fast, not disturbing visually and doesn't impair the movement of the player in any way. Now, the only question left is when will I have the time to discover every nook and cranny in it. Thanks for making this masterpiece! Oh, and needless to say I guess, but it got :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart from me. Keep 'em coming, man!2010-01-17 17:32:00

I added a comment immediately after I played the level via the comments, but I couldn't help, but come here and let you know personally that this is without a doubt one of the most impressive levels I've played in LBP. The platforming was excellent, the amount of bubbles were epic, it was polished to near perfection and the puzzles and overall design just blew me away. Specific things I loved was the lighting, your use of layers, the materials you chose, and most of all the variety of gameplay you presented. Overall I loved it and like I said in the comments I don't throw this term around often, but this really is one of the best levels I've played from the community.2010-01-23 08:19:00

Brilliant...
The gameplay was amazing, I love the secret areas they fit well with the level. It got bemusing with all the backtracking but in a good way, kept people on their toes. Now the chase scene really kept people aware!

Visuals were great and had an Apature Science fell to some parts.

I have to go play the level again because I was rushing through it because I didn't have much time.

This level was just inspiring. Put MM's mine levels to shame. Looked gorgeous and the gameplay was just great.

I LOVED the slo-mo rocket shot. So cool.

Only downside - my score failed to upload at the end.

Great, great level.
