Happy Buddy Battle Show (Version 1)Cargo480i
A japanese game show style free for all arena battle. Made to improve the ideas behind the deathmatch genre of levels. By running on a match timer, and using a points tracking system, players are encouraged to be competitive, and can see who wins the match at the end.

NOTE: You will need 2-4 players to play the level.

Back about 4 months, I started playing deathmatch levels. They seemed okay, and with a little inspiration from them, I wanted create my own. I didn't want to just make one that had the same parts; rather, I felt something new was needed. Deathmatches had:

1) No end -- they'd go on until you fly yourself to the exit

2)No way to do determine a winner/no incetive to be good at the leve;
-- You'd just screw around haphazardly hitting other players

3) Lack of original weapons -- electric swords, explosive maces, plasma turrets; needed some more invetive stuff

four months down the road and we have the Happy Buddy Battle Show. I implemented the improvements as I saw fit. 12 wacky weapons and gadgets, a japanese game show setting with loads of engrish, customizable match time, and a points tracking system.

I hope you guys like this one.

I'll add some photos of the match and its weapons once I can.

Finally, regarding F4F, I will do 7 F4Fs for the level.

Really hate to say it but this level still needs much improvement.

The part which should give the players some initial point nearly froze the Playstation. It was really scary. Some players in the party even told me that they would leave if i restarted the level to do this again.

The timer was a nice idea but it ended the game after 2 seconds because someone played around with the button that sets the time. Because of the reason above we didn't restart.

Sry mate but the bubble part really did it for us.

Okay... I am going to plan on modifying the points system. I'm really sorry my level stung you like that with a near-freeze . I will be looking at the timer's logic tomorrow, and giving it another tinkering.

The next update will not sting you like this, that I will make sure.

again, I'm very sorry that this did not work out

I have made an emergency update to fix the timer, which ran out of time late one player, and way too early for your playthrough, and the points system, which near froze PS3.

The points system should no longer attempt to murder anyone's PS3. There is only one sadness chair now. All players jump into the chair and will gain 1 million points without lag. I tested to make sure the lag had been greatly alleviated.

Anyway, this was simply an emergency update to fix those serious issues. More things will change on the weekend, including visuals and weapon balancing and weapon tactics.

Hey there! Sorry it took so long to F4F, had to get someone to actually play this with me! Eventually had to enlist my wife, but don't worry, she is a decent player.

I liked it for what it was. The timer worked well for me, and the variety of weapons was refreshing. It was VERY colorful...in a weird way...but simple in its design. Not much to say about a level like this...

Overall not bad, but this type of level just isn't my cup of tea. I will give you credit for the variety though.

thank you for the feedback, shawneboi. I'm glad the timer worked well for your play-through.

As a side note, I will be lifting the F4F limit on this level, allowing for an unlimited F4Fs, but some improvements that may be suggested could take longer to arrive, given my busy school schedule.
