The SandcastleMrsSpookyBuz Explore the mystical giant sandcastle, collecting treasure as you go! Evade the lurking dangers, and try to reach the seashore, but watch out for the rising tide! Oh, and have FUN! all I tried to resist, but how can you NOT make a water level when Mm have been kind enough to give it to us? Ah well, regardless, I really hope you like it. Thank you. A few screenies... http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww227/MrsSpookyBuz/APhoto_32.jpg Oooh! It's a castle! Made of sand! http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww227/MrsSpookyBuz/APhoto_30.jpg Oooh! Water! http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww227/MrsSpookyBuz/APhoto_28.jpg Yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum! | 2010-01-02 22:49:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |

Pro's + Cool Theme (I love sandcastles) + Good platforming + Good use of the water tool flooding/draining + Nice clean visuals + Lots of secrets + Just the right length Con's All easily fixable - One music track used - One secret treasure was hard to get off of - no enemies :star::star::star::star: http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc146/zekeike12/ICON0.png | 2010-01-03 00:01:00 Author: zekeike Posts: 71 |
- One music track used Firstly, thank you for playing. And yes, there's only one music track. I don't want to sound like I'm giving excuses, but with this level I got in my mind the times when I was a child playing on the beach with sandcastles. I'd stick shells in them, I'd stick a flag in the top of them, and then I'd pour water on them and watch them disintegrate. The music here is just to provide a background for the gameplay - there's no bosses or 'taa-daaa' moments, just memories of when we were all kids playing on the beach and having fun, with all the world's problems thankfully hidden from us. That sounded deeper than I meant it to be, sorry about that. | 2010-01-03 00:16:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
The level takes a step back from constant bombs, explosions, and adrenaline filled stress levels and replaces it with a relaxing day at the beach playing in a sand castle. The visuals are great and came across very simple and clean ? but the time and energy spent on the details was crystal clear. I had many areas within the level that struck me as enjoyable and memorable ? but I think my favorite was the moving sandy skull with a path cut up his forehead (I just liked it). I had really only two issues on the level. The first was probably a freak thing, but I had an invisible death. I have no idea what killed me. It was when you first go into the sandcastle and are swimming. I went right and was collecting point bubbles ? was behind the thin layer and *squish*. Probably a freak thing and not fixable, but just letting you know. The second was that when you go up and get to the wooden trampoline. There is an area (potentially on purpose) that you can go back down near the checkpoint on the left. (I did not realize the springboard was for more than getting point bubbles). Once back down that hole ? I didn?t know where to go ? I couldn?t find a way to send the water back up to look for the route I should have gone. I switched every switch and backtracked all the way to the beginning confused. I had to restart level . On second play I realized the proper path and took it. The level really was a relaxing stroll for the most part ? and an enjoyable one. rated: :star::star::star::star: tag: cute PS ? If you get a chance, please check out the F4F lvl in my sig. | 2010-01-03 00:52:00 Author: Jaydetiger Posts: 64 |
This is by far your best level, with a sea(no pun intended) of bad Water levels it's good to know there are a few great ones that stand out, this being one of them. The design/structure was great and so was the look. The decorations were really well placed and the checkpoints were awesome! I also liked the little sandcastle at the end, it was a nice touch because it kinda showed what the player just went through. 5 Stared and Hearted. | 2010-01-03 01:31:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
This was both stunning and charming - easy to play, gorgeous to look at, loads of secrets and lots of your trademark platforming. In all honesty, as the previous poster suggested, in the dark and nasty world of the 'OMG WATER' levels, this level stands out like a beacon of what can be done with a bit of thought and a bit of creativity. Thank you once more, MrsSB, for proving that LBP is still the place to be. LBPC is also THE place to find these gems. mrsupercomputer is awesome, Jaeyden is super, CuzFeeshe defines gameplay, wexfordian is brilliantly adept, and you MrsSB, you just let people have fun. Thank you. | 2010-01-03 02:12:00 Author: LBP--Sentinel Posts: 31 |
Yaaay!!!! This level just made my weekend! Yet another excellent level MrsSpookyBuz! (I must find a new way to express my utter admiration of your levels!) The visuals were amazing, with crisp designs and beautiful colors. The whole feel of the level is so charming, warm and lovely, just like the creator. I think you've perfectly captured your love of the sea, and it shows in your level. Your use of the materials made me think that this is exactly how they were meant to be used. Gameplay was obviously MrsSpookyBuz trademark fun! Your versatility as a creator shows yet again through this gorgeous, brilliantly crafted level, this is how it's done!!! Not enough stars or hearts in the world to properly rate this, but :star::star::star::star::star: + <3 will have to do for now. | 2010-01-03 02:27:00 Author: ScoutsBoo Posts: 63 |

And more thanks for seeing the sandcastle at the end (and the same at the beginning), which was actually a miniature of the sandcastle you just played through! I'm really pleased you liked it, thank you. Thank you once more, MrsSB, for proving that LBP is still the place to be. Thank you. Thank you. I am exceptionally embarrassed to be mentioned with the names you quoted, and don't feel comfortable or worthy to be among them. However, 'have fun' is something I'll claim gratefully! Thank you again. | 2010-01-03 02:29:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Looks awesome! I'll play it right now!... *playing Sand Castle by MrsSpookyBuz* EDIT! Okay that was definitely something! I loved it! I enjoyed every little moments of it! The level wasn't too long nor too short. Clean steps and visuals. The gulls were fun to watch flying But, it wasn't very challenging. I gave: :star::star::star::star: Tag: Brilliant (because it was) Heart? Yes That's all! Thanks for sharing | 2010-01-03 02:45:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
I think you've perfectly captured your love of the sea, and it shows in your level. Thank you so much! You've made me cry again! There aren't very many people on here who've helped me and supported me like you have. I appreciate it immensely. | 2010-01-03 02:48:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
I tried to play this before, but it was locked? Anyway, I'm sure it's unlocked now as people are playing it. ...so I'll give it a try as soon as I'm home. I'm sure it's wonderful, as always. | 2010-01-03 02:55:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
*sigh* So much for my grand idea of making a sand castle level! Just ran through this one, it's really fun and plays great. The changes to the water level to get through sections worked very well. One minor nit-pick...in the section with the small rotating "C" it's difficult to tell where the openings in the vertical walls are. Anyway nice work! | 2010-01-03 03:13:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
I had no idea you were working on this until I saw it being published. You are one talented lady! I hope people pay quite a bit of attention to this level - it's practically a blueprint on how to make a fun level containing water. The challenges are just right - you have nice friendly visuals, a maze of walls that gives you that "I hope I'm not trapped and lost because I feel like I'm running out of breath", dodging underwater obstacles while grabbing point bubbles, great platforming, fast and fun gameplay.... whew. This is a GREAT water level! | 2010-01-03 03:42:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

That sounded deeper than I meant it to be, sorry about that. Hey MrsSpookybuz, The whole level was a 'taa-daa' moment! And you shouldn't apologize for putting your level into context: it made me appreciate it even more, and it perfectly compliments the sentiment I got from playing your level in the first place. I definitely read the nostalgic attitude from the whimsical design, which was paradoxically simple and complex at the same time. I played it with my six-year-old brother, and it was like watching "Finding Nemo" all over again, catering to the amusement of little children but also sophisticated enough for adults. He enjoyed the vibrant and playful elements, and I just left reality altogether and indulged myself in the carefree, imaginative, and adventure-filled childhood. I wish I could highlight some flaws and suggest improvements, but I really wasn't thinking, nor did I want to, when I was playing. As I said, the level took me places, and the level wasn't meant to be serious: it's escapist, and a successful one at that! You're one of the very few creators who completely obliterate the star ranking system, and quite frankly, 5:star:s doesn't justify the experience I had with this level. I hope explaining how you made me float into nostalgic blissfulness with this amazing creation was more rewarding than any amount of stars. This is a GREAT water level! Thank you for your kind words. The level wasn't really planned for release - it was just a 'chill out zone' where I was messing about with water and the brilliant new tunes we have from PotC pack. But as is the norm, LBP took control of me and suddenly there was something approaching a level! Hey MrsSpookybuz, The whole level was a 'taa-daa' moment! Eternally lost in your Sandcastle, jeffcu28 What lovely, kind words - thank you so much. I'm really pleased you had fun! I'm a sentimental old coot, and totally obsessed with the ocean, so building and playing this level makes me a bit sad and so wishing I could return to those innocent days at the seaside when the only important thing was filling up the moat around your sandcastle with sea water! Good days *sigh* | 2010-01-03 11:52:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
I took a loonng break from lbp so i've missed out on a lot. So erm.. THIS is how good creators are now? xD Honestly i thought your level was pretty amazing, everything was just so clean and polished and nothing felt out of place or overdone. My LBP-head seems a little far in the past now so i really can't think of anyway you could improve this. Sure there are things you could add but it seems like an unnecessary risk | 2010-01-03 15:48:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
Finally playe this and love it. A sand castle is very good idea and I thought it was one of the best water levels out there if not THE best. Everything flows (lol) good, it's super beautiful and not overly difficult. A nice and enjoyable experience. You have talent because it's not like the first awesome level you pull off. It's charming, the little star fishes, the other ones that look at you, grabbing on the pirate sails, etc. Well done. I simply have no cons for this level. Feels a bit cheap to say that but the only thing I didn't like is when I realised my little adventure in the sandcastle was finished Maybe the "slide to the end" part is clich?. :star::star::star::star::star: + heart As for F4F, I am curious of what you think of Space Sack's Adventures. It's completely different than A Bark In The Dark and it's not a hard level this time. | 2010-01-03 20:35:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

Yes, I'm not overly happy with the boat-launch ending. Originally, I had a cannon fire you off the top of the sandcastle onto the scoreboard, but it just seemed very quick and not really in keeping with the relaxing atmosphere (not sure the boat does either! lol). As for F4F, I am curious of what you think of Space Sack's Adventures. It's completely different than A Bark In The Dark and it's not a hard level this time. Absolutely, I'll play it later. I hope I didn't give you the impression that I don't like difficult challenges, by the way. | 2010-01-03 21:31:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Tried this out this afternoon and really enjoyed it. There's a simple elegance in the look you've designed with the soft sand material and rounded corners. I loved how the platforming was solid, fun and deceptively simply built. To make stuff look that clean and structured takes a lot of work and it looks great! I loved how it was relaxing in a fun and interactive way and not stressful or hectic at all. Very nice feeling throughout the level. I gave it 5 stars and hearted it. Just finished and had a great time! The use of a giant sandcastle in a water based level is brillant! I loved the bright cartoony style and the gameplay was very fun. I don't think there was a single moment where I was confused about what to do or where to go either, because like others have said, it's just really polished. Fantastic job! | 2010-01-04 00:13:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
I really liked all the little details here, the bell chimes when you pass a checkpoint and those darting fish at the beginning were a great idea, i particularly loved those. Nice job Mrs! | 2010-01-04 01:47:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Had a lot of fun on this one, MrsSB. Great visuals that clearly used PotC without BEING PotC. Don't know what difficulty level you're shooting for, but the hardest landing to stick was swinging from the large sail up left to a lower one, over on the right, all above a large pit with sand towers in it. Making one of the sail chains just a bit longer, or moving one or the other a single grid square inward, would make the swing-jump more "get-on-first-try". Totally optional. | 2010-01-04 14:32:00 Author: coyote_blue Posts: 422 |

I saw this one come up a few days ago and felt like waiting for a nice sunny day to play. ...too bad it is only 15 degrees out! (-10 Celsius), but in comparison from this weekend, that is a heat wave here!! Lovely, cute, fun with a semi evil vengeance as far as the platforming and hazards! Yikes! Really though, really inventive water platforming intermixed with great game play and cute fun. I loved it!! ...oh and sorry bout my score. I musta been on a roll or something! I am sure that will not last long! 5 stars and a heart! | 2010-01-04 18:43:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Great level as always Ms.SB . Filled with the usual excellent platforming and visuals we've come to expect. The level had a fantastic amount of charm to it, its nice to see something other than POTC. It definetly left me wanting the summer, instead of this horrible snow. I suppose I could always go make a snow castle....... ***** and hearted. | 2010-01-04 22:11:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |

I wanted to play this level since you posted this thread, but each time I forgot ... Your nice comment on my level was a good reminder, so here I am! I knew I was going to love it!! Just an awesome level! I always loved the beach theme, and the giant sandcastle idea is very original and well-done! Great gameplay as usual with you! Fun, original and smartly done! Yet another 5 Star level from MrsSpookyBuzz! I've been a fan of your creations since HyperCube 1, and they just keep getting better! This level itself is just plain fun. The simplicity of the visuals work perfectly with the them. I actually felt like Sackboy had shrunk and was playing in a sandcastle! Bravo | 2010-01-12 04:49:00 Author: shawneboi Posts: 221 |
Very pretty theme throughout - my wife had a bit of trouble with the big skull as she has trouble using her thumb on the controller - I managed it no problems though. Favorite bit was the ride in the ship at the end and the ship sails which you grab. I like the clean look of the level - I am starting to realise that maybe I use the corner editor a bit too much and that sometime less is more.... maybe I am just untidy - lol Great level and recommended to all! | 2010-01-12 09:04:00 Author: Catseyez Posts: 68 |
...I am starting to realise that maybe I use the corner editor a bit too much... Thanks for playing and for your comments! I honestly don't think you can ever use the corner editor too much! I may not have used it as MUCH on this level, because most of the corners are rounded and creating on the grid was less time-consuming. But for objects like the skulls, I couldn't have made them without the corner editor. If you're comfortable and confident using the corner editor, you should continue to do so. Make it a lifelong friend! | 2010-01-12 11:52:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Very funny level: simple visuals but with an unique style. Really nice the idea of a giant SandCastle, you did it very well. Good use of water, i liked that mini puzzles, and the skull was really good. Liked very much the beginning and the end scene, maybe you can use a nicer boat in the beginning! Maybe you can use a dolphin to go to the Sand Castle! Overall it's a very good level, good length, nice visuals, good use of water for gameplay and some other features, like the many bubbles, very useful for people who loves to be in the Top 10 To make the visuals better, you can use another material, maybe two types of sand, or some wood, so the visuals aren't monotone 4 :star: ! played it. loved it.:star::star::star::star::star: it. If i were to suggest one thing, i would've loved it, if you actually jumped in that smaller sand castle and fell down, so it was like that small sandcastle was actually one big adventure :hero: but thats just me, Typical Aries. Ah, one of those bright and cheerful levels that I would never make myself but still love to play. Nothing too tough, but enough tricky bits to keep things challenging. The section with the sand columns lost me a few lives before I reached the top. No major technical issues, smooth flow, and some nice gameplay mechanics (especially the barrel cannons). Distinct and consistent visual style, big, colourful and cartoony...could easily have passed for an MM story level. Cool water-vehicles, and I liked the way you finish by crashing towards the scoreboard in a big ship. Criticism? Nothing beyond nitpicking, but 3-D glitch confused me in some places and I found myself trying to jump to areas outside of the gameplay zone. Also, thought first sail would be better with a "inactive until grabbed" set-up instead of waiting for it to descend, but no major issue there. Anyway...nice job done there. 5 stars, a "great" tag and a heart from me. | 2010-01-13 08:45:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |

I really loved this level. Very fun to play over and over (trying to get to the top of the score board). @Ungreth I still haven't made it past those columns with out taking at least one plunge. The only "structural" issue I could find was here. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=11646 I was able to jump on the top of the skull and deviate from the intended path. I know, very minor but it's the only thing I could find. suggestions: It would look cool if you could somehow make the eyeball fish move through the water. Also, you could add a little "life" to the level with some creatures. Maybe deadly hermit crabs that retreat into there shells until submerged. Great Level. 5+H+H+"tricky" | 2010-01-13 21:26:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |

Very original idea (at least I haven't seen a sandcastle level before) There was one jumping section where I died and eventually lost all my lives and had to restart, but I think that was because I wasn't careful enough and just tried to rush through  I think people should make more of these pretty simple platformers that look nice instead of some level that looks awesome and has a deep story but doesn't have too much gameplay... :star::star::star::star::star: and heart Btw, if you are still doing F4F for this, could you please check out my survival level? Deep danger (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=21168-Deep-danger-survival-challenge) | 2010-01-13 21:38:00 Author: napero7 Posts: 1653 |
I was able to jump on the top of the skull and deviate from the intended path. I know, very minor but it's the only thing I could find. Thank you for playing again. The pathway you found was actually an intended shortcut for people who were either impatient or curious enough to not want to wait for the winch! Not very many people have found it, and it's only a novelty, but well done for finding it and being 'nosey'! I played this a couple of days ago but forgot to write here... played again for the awesomeness, with the Flag that drops down, why not make it come down when you are at the bottom but when you grab it goes up? 5 starred again | 2010-01-17 13:27:00 Author: Kern Posts: 5078 |
I played this yesterday and I really enjoyed it. I really like the atmosphere, and the materials you used in making this. I think you did a wonderful job on the seagulls. The way they move makes it look like their really gliding. I like the way you implemented the water it's not overdone. You also included some decent platforming sections. Well done! I did manage to get stuck though, and had to restart. The part by the skull that you climb through, where the water rises. I went right instead of checking out what was on the left. I jumped back down to see what I missed, and when I went back I couldn't get back up. No water... Just wanted to let you know. PS I missed your second two hyper sphere levels when I was on vacation, so I played them yesterday too. Beyond words........ | 2010-01-19 22:04:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |
PS I missed your second two hyper sphere levels when I was on vacation, so I played them yesterday too. Beyond words........ Jeez, smasher, that must have been one L-O-N-G vacation! But seriously, thanks very much. I enjoyed making the Hyper Sphere levels immensely, and I'm so pleased that kind people such as yourself had fun. I appreciate it very much. Alas, the 'Hyper' series has been put to rest. | 2010-01-19 22:41:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Really cute level. And I admit it, but I may be a little biased here because even before I started up the level I already loved the premise. What I was granted with the moment I jumped in was a pleasant and extremely happy go lucky level that was fun if not anything else. It wasn't the type of level I expected from you, but don't take that as a criticism. Instead take it as the ultimate compliment. Variety is the spice of life and it's nice to know you're versatile. This one was nice and laid back with some cool examples of ways to use water and surprisingly playable with friends. Loved it. | 2010-01-23 07:39:00 Author: fusionboxer Posts: 37 |
Hey there! Played this a while back - no idea why I'm only just posting now! I really liked it. Back then , when I played it, I was amazed because it was pretty much the only quality level which had water and wasn't just a level which had a boat in it. It also inspired me because it showed me the different things that you could do with water and switches, other than swim in =) I really liked this, and after reading the description that you made at the beginning of the post, I'm glad to see that the level has a deep meaning to it, and that you have successfully managed to turn your thoughts and experiences into a superb level! (As with all your levels!) Again, as usual with your levels, hearted! Nice work, keep creating amazing levels =) If your still doing F4F, check out mine? (The Mine 2) It's in my sig! Thanks =) | 2010-01-23 20:25:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |
Thanks very much, standby250, glad you enjoyed it! I'll play your level and leave feedback for you. | 2010-01-23 20:51:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Maybe you know what I think about your level already. Here's a little poem I wrote for you in light of your latest baby The Sandcastle Indigo figures paused on the shore, wet excited dogs are best left at a distance. The ladybird coloured inflatable ring scrapes coldly over my armpits. My sun soaked tomato and cheese flopwich has beeen slain like that beetroot over there with the goggles on. A warm gust strokes by as I look for a new pleasure Perhaps under a rock in the farthest cave lies treasure or at least, something I can prod | 2010-01-28 02:55:00 Author: Tanuki75 Posts: 172 |
lol, thank you Tanuki! I'm hazarding a guess that someone was very very bored at work last night!!! Your poem just about sums up Brits on the beach. Except the 'keeping away from wet dogs' bit - I can never resist liddle doggies. | 2010-01-28 10:52:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
