who plans their levels before creating

i know i do i draw in a little black book but as most of you know
your ideas never work out.

if anyone else draws out their levels before creating i would love to see

I have too admit the level i'm working on in my moon hasn't been planned at all i make it up as i go along...

That's not true i had an idea tried, then failed, tried again failed tried for like the 5th time and managed if you try again and again and again you can make anything on littlebigplanet!		2010-01-02 20:06:00

I've tried, but i find the more planning i put into something creative the less likely i am to finish it.

I prefer to just improvise, at most take a moment to think of something i could integrate later and then work towards it. Use the ideas while they're still fresh i suppose 		2010-01-02 23:18:00

I have a notebook and pen with me most of the time. It was mainly used for notes and ideas I have for stories, but since getting LBP, it's being filled with level designs and puzzles.

So, yeah, I draw out levels before I make them. I actually have a couple levels drawn out already. Then on separate pages I draw squares and then design some sort of puzzle. It tends to work out for the most part. I only have one completed level so far (for the PSP version), but the list will surely grow! I just wish I had more artistic abilities ='( I can make the level fine, I just can't make it look GOOD..		2010-01-03 00:49:00

Is a good place to look for an idea of what older members used to do.

I usually come up with the best ideas when I'm the most bored... So I end up sketching out a lot of ideas at school / work. I used to plot out my entire levels, but lately, I get a few gameplay ideas and a theme, and I run with it in game from there.

I've probably still got the sketches for my earlier levels somewhere. I'll scan and post them when I get a chance.		2010-01-03 05:21:00

Most times... sections, characters, thingz come to me... I then do loose sketches on paper... these things I flesh-out in the craters of my moon... some make it to levels... some wind up as amusements for friends... I almost exclusive build in cardboard at first.

I plan as much as possible and try not to marry myself to any ideas in fear they do not work... I also try to leave a lot of wiggle-room b/c inspiration has a frightening way of striking... sometimes you just gotta let the horses run free.

I do always plan my levels.
Sometimes on paper, sometimes in my head, sometimes by throwing stuff outta the window... nah just kidding.
