http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/4613/aphoto6i.jpgBased off of the greatest game of all time, The Ocarina of Time. Features a great recreation of the beginning of the game, a dungeon, an original boss fight, and more!

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA (Part 1): By AFI311

Description:
The level is unique in the way it is sticker based. You will collect custom stickers, namely your Sword and Shield among others, and use them to activate objects. Example: sticking your sword sticker on a monster to kill it. Because of this, you must have "Collect Community Objects" turned on. The level itself follows Link's journey from the start: From Kokiri Forest through the first dungeon. The boss fight itself is is unique because it doesn't involve a paintinator for once, and is challenging enough. I am currently working on Part 2 of the series; complete this level for a key to the demo!

Features:
- A complete remake of Ocarina of Time through the first dungeon
- A fun & different game which offers puzzles as well as hidden secrets
- Challenging enough for a Zelda fan and complex enough to make an RPG fan happy
- A unique boss fight unlike most you see in levels
- Original Zelda enemies including Deku Baba, Skulltullas, and Deku Scrubs
- Real water!

Maybe because I don't play these types of levels often, (I usually stick to platforming/puzzle levels) I actually had a good time playing your level. While the sticker system is naturally cumbersome, It was only really annoying during the boss fight. But beyond that, the constant use of stickering actually felt fresh and fun for me.

While I could always go for more platforming gameplay, this level is what it is and it does it pretty well. It felt like the world of the Legend of Zelda. Though I must disagree with your description...A Link to the Past is better than Ocarina!

If you want, check out some of my levels. They all offer different gameplay elements though always focusing on platforming/puzzles.

Again cool remake!

Yeah, personally I find Majoras Mask the best game, but my description is just based off of http://gamerankings.com

Glad you enjoyed it! I am working on improving the boss fight.

This was an interesting level to play. The world looked very Zelda - which of course was the intent (Though I am no expert as Zelda II was the last one I played ... many years ago). The visuals are solid and it accomplished the theme that was being sought well.

The stickering was a refreshing change of pace, and it was enjoyable to play a level that made use of the sticker game mechanic.

Pro's:
Use of stickers as the backbone of gameplay
Presentation and styling
Heart container utilization was great and it worked very well.

Con's:
No "Close Level Post" - I usually prefer levels that close off early to prevent confusing adds, but in this case it was much worse to get a late game addition- when a player joined in it was at the water puzzle and they had no stickers to help with level ... made them joining pointless and annoying for both of us.

Cumbersome to switch between stickers - I have no idea their name, but there are four creatures in the level that were the same, but two had to be killed with slingshot while two were with sword. Not a major deal, but it was obnoxious to switch between stickers trying to take the things out without knowing which it would be on the same type of creature.

Boss fight - this was just painful. My pain started when the boss fight began and some instructional lips were triggered off screen - this took my screen away from the boss and when it returned I was being hit with green plasma. I was never sure which sticker to use or where to hit it. Every sticker showed red and I finally just started randomly plastering it with various stickers. The annoyance really kicked in as I tried to switch between stickers (a slow painful process - but maybe i'm just slower than average) and while doing so I was being knocked around by spawning critters who would push me into green plasma. I ended up taking out the boss, but it was in such a random fashion, I still don't know what the "right" answer was.

While, the Con's listed above are in much greater detail and length - my overall experience was positive. In fact - the three things listed above are my only gripes. I look forward to playing the demo in a bit for the next part.

PS - if you get a chance, please check out my F4F level, link is in my sig.

Played yesterday. The only REAL thing that I think you should change is the Deku's being killed by the shield instead of the sword- granting the illusion of knocking their attacks back at them, since in the original Zelda you kill them with your shield. Also seeing as how the shield is pretty useless at the moment anywho.

Also, the water at the very beginning seemed very "tacked on".

While I've been looking for something like this (It's whitting my appetite before Jagrevi's "Ama Toor" at least..), personally, I'd like for you to make your own adventure and not base it off of an existing game, however still using the sticker system. ah well, tis your level anyway, so you can do as you please.

Anyway, if I might ask... would you use the same stickers in later levels, or would you get them again earlier in later levels?

Also... some more side quests later on would be nice, and, um, yeah. Anywho, I gave it four stars. /runs

I'm fixing a lot of things - the boss fight, adding a close level gate, changing how the Deku Scrubs work, and more. Rock: the water in the begging was "tacked on". Before that lake was just ice, and so when water came out, of course I wanted real water there. It's only purpose is scenery (and if you dive in the water under the bridge you'll find a secret). I'm adding more sidequests as well. And yes the same stickers are used in the next levels, check out the Demo for Part 2 and you will see how.2010-01-02 19:37:00

New version published!

Fixes/updates:
- Close level gate
- Heart Container locations now easier to see
- New Heart Container location added by Skulltulla
- Deku Scrubs completely reworked: You now must use your shield to reflect back their Deku Nuts in order to kill them, just like the real game.
- Navi now tells you how to beat the boss a bit earlier than before
- Basic visual updates

Next version will include more sidequests

Hey there, sorry its taken so long, incredibely busy.
Ok, so I really enjoyed your level. I think you could do much better on making it more appealing to the eye. For instance, your cut-out character could be more precicely cut-out. I see lots of opportunities for trees and bushes and just making it more organic.
What I like is how you did the stickers. Levels these day I rarely see stickers and I like how you implemented them. A+ for that.
There could still allot of play testing to be done, I had a hitch here and there but I made it alright.

My really only gripe with your level is that its a rip-off of Zelda, I'd rather see an original story with original characters using your sticker gameplay. I gave you 5 stars and hearted the level.
