Frying Saucers story level

Archive: 11 posts

There has been something that has been bugging me, in the LBP PSP story mode. In Tinsel Town by The Director, the level Frying Saucers. Take a look at the Description, isn't it a bit.....out of place?

I noticed that a while ago.

I am pretty sure if that was a community level, it would get moderated.

*Gasp* You don't mean that Sony would moderate a community level that contains that word in the description, and yet, Sony would not change their own description? :kz:

Wow...I never noticed that before. That is really strange...and definitely not rated E for crude language. Oh the hypocrisy of Sony...how can they justify moderating levels with such language if they use it themselves?

Shocked,

I noticed this when I first played through Story Mode. Always read the description of a level before I play it. After I had read that, I got the box and made sure the game was rated E. 2010-01-05 02:51:00

I had to check on my PSP. Who writes the descriptions for the game?2010-01-06 14:43:00

Wouldn't the people who would be "offended" by such things actually be the last to bother reading level descriptions anyway? 2010-01-06 14:49:00

This description was also in my copy of the game. Yet the PEGI (European equivalent of the ESRB) rates this game a 7+, but with no mention of this brief moment of crude language. :eek:2010-01-06 15:24:00

I don't know about PEGI, but I do know that the ESRB approval process doesn't include them playing through the whole game and reading through the whole game script (that would take too long with the amount of games to rate as well as hold back the release schedule). The publisher is supposed to tell the ratings board about what relevant content is in the game and supply them with a beta and some screenshots and videos (as well as a pile of money).

It's very likely that this was simply an oversight. The process of tailoring a game to fit multiple rating board's specifications is only one of many things that a developer has to think about.
