At the beginning of the level you can select between 1 or 2 players. The 2 player lander's physics is adjusted for weight. It requires both players coorperate to land.

This level doesn't work with 3 or 4 player at all... the lander just plummets....

This level was a lot of fun... I highly suggest everyone jump on board...

Of course its got a very steep learning curve- still after 15 or so tries I would occasionally crash & burn instantaneously- but when you land that first craft, and get your first speed bonus, well it feels all the more rewarding. Don't delay! Operators are standing by... Play it now!

Yeah, takes some persistence to learn, but it's great when you do. I've seen some Lunar Lander levels before but I think this one is the best. I think it's one I'll go back to again and again.2010-01-01 15:38:00

Yeah, I definately knew this level would take practice... which is TOTALLY against the grain in LittleBigPlanet. I'm glad I took Wex's suggestion to create a mandatory training level - so it takes a huge rating hit rather than the actual level.

It's actually kind of comforting to know kids can low-rate it as much as they want when they can't finish it.

Try Fees's suggestion and go with the 2 player version -alone-. Easier to handle. I finished the level doing it that way.2010-01-01 16:07:00

Unfortunately, it would be VERY difficult to do at this point. It took many hours to time the speed bonuses against the heavier lander. I personally enjoy the 1 player lander more because it reacts more like the original lunar lander game.

This was so awesome! I have played the original Lunar Lander as well as countless other versions and I have to say this my favorite! ...and I still suck at all of them!

Touchy, tricky, nerve wracking, exasperating, fun!! LOL!

I really enjoyed the visuals and other nice touches you have added. The wonky robot, the landing map, the lighting, and landing site lighting queues are wonderful. I think you did an excellent job on the graphics for the cave and lunar surface! Really nice layering there!! It was fun being a part of testing as well as seeing this one grow into another amazing CuzFeeshe instant classic.

The technical achievement alone in this one is staggering. Really awesome and simple controls that makes it a wonderfully intuitive experience. I just love how you keep recreating all these amazingly fun games from back when I plonked quarters and tokens in these games.

Well done!!! 10 stars and 10 hearts! ...well.. 5 stars and 1 heart. I wish I could do more, but their heart tracking service is a bit wonky right now anyway. LOL!!

Finally out! Sweet. Will play like right now and edit this post.

EDIT:

This level reeks excellence. It's also a big sign with "anti-casual players" written all over it. But gosh this is in a good way. When you finally land that thing (i'm still pretty bad), the feeling of satisfaction is really there.
I love you new little robot that explains the map. The whole thing is also good looking as usual.

It's great times on LBP and we wouldn't have this much fun if there was no CCubbage pulling off those really original levels. I think you're really getting significant in the community. Well, at least in my point of view.

5 stars!

I want to play this so badly but my PS3 broke and I currently do not have the finances to get it fixed. But when I get back I'd love to play again. What I've played in the beta was fantastic. My hat's off to you, CCubbage.2010-01-02 08:38:00

Yeah, I had walked that fine line between mass appeal and LBP death for a while now, and even when I originally thought about doing this level I thought "This level is going to be totally slammed."..... but I couldn't help myself. This is acgtually my favorite level to play that I've created - I think its a lot of fun.

I've actually decided to stop republishing and just let it be a "LBP Central" level - this level requires FAR too much practice for the casual gamer.

TheJollyRajah - Ah man! That's too bad. Mine broke not too long ago.... I was really looking forward to seeing what you thought of the training section. Well, I didn't delete and republish the main level, so you still have the high score for now (although it is possible to get in excess of 40,000 more points).

Checked it out today and boy you aren't kidding there's a learning curve on this one!

I must have played the training level for a half hour before I could manage to not bump into the walls or floor regularly. lol - It's not for a casual player for sure. That said it's a really cool concept for an LBP level. The VR material looks great in the training section and the moon part is gorgeous. Love the perspective on the Earth in the distance and the lighting is great both above ground and below ground. The black hole spinning bit at the scoreboard is very motion sick inducing but awesome looking nonetheless. lol

I've only managed to land on the easy one so far but I'll be back a few more times to tackle that medium one. I got very close the last time I played. Not sure I've got the right stuff for that last one though.

5 stars and hearted - innovative and very difficult but cool as heck CCubbage! Nice Work as always!

Hi CCubbage!

Goodness me, this level takes me back! Piles of 10p pieces in an arcade lovingly wasted trying to land my craft and rescue spacemen. Your level replicates this feeling brilliantly. Well done - great fun, frustrating (in a GOOD way), and controller destroying!

5 stars, and 3 words - you nailed it. Thank you.

PS - Right, with that out of the way, here's my beef with you, Sir Cub. You're good. Admittedly, you're darn good. But, please, I beg you, DO NOT EVER cause me to miss at least two meals again! *Insert swear word here!* I was allowed nearly 5 hours on the PS3 earlier, and I spent almost 4 of them on your levels - not that I'm crap, or you're levels are crap, it's just I HAD to keep trying. You git!

As my wife may have said in the past, I love you and hate you. Stop it now. No, really, STOP.

Bloody good stuff, mate. Thanks.

Not sure I've got the right stuff for that last one though.
I have a feeling once you land on the intermediate, you'll want to try for the hard one... there are some nice pretty visuals down there....

Keep in mind, though - once you really get a knack for the controls it actually becomes fairly easy. TheJollyRajah aced it - flying down into the easy and intermediate, picking up those stars, flying OUT of the caverns, and then landing on expert 5 times. I had to add the speed bonuses just so his score could be topped.

Sounds like you're the same type of gamer I am (we're probably about the same age, so we grew up at that time)

I love a game that has more below the surface, and gets better the more you play it. I designed this one, Vertigo, and Destiny that way.... mainly because it keeps it fun for me.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I did that too, and got 2 speed bonuses

You're right, once you master the controls it's not that hard. It's still intense though, getting within millimeters of the floor, squeezing R1 as hard as you can. Love it.

Again, hope you make some more. Could just be some more caverns, or a time trial, or even incorporate it into a full level.

I MAY make some more, but it all depends on how this one is received. I think this is one of my best creations, and also probably my most complex... but with a half hour to an hour learning curve to start having fun (which, by the way, is about the time it take on the ORIGINAL lunar lander), I'll have to see how many here end up really giving it a chance.

It literally took me several solid days of setting up banks of several hundred mag keys for the "collision detection".... so I have to get motivated to do it again.

Darn this key bug thing. Couldn't play wex's helicopter one, and now I can't play Lunar Lander (full version) even though I collected the key.

So, the training level was great - very polished, as usual. I loved and hated the way my palms sweated with one of your levels, as usual. And that's a great robot you got there!

I would love to play the full level, but I understand the reasoning behind locking it until training is completed, but I wonder how many folk may miss out on the full level because of this key bug?

Well done though matey

I would generally suggest people who can't collect keys under their main account use a sub account..... HOPEFULLY MM will eventually get the key issue solved.

Played both the training level and the main level yesterday. Man, I sucked! The mechanic itself was implemented very well, but you are correct when you say that it takes hours of practice. However, once you start to get the hang of it, it's a blast to rocket around the turns. And the bonus for speed is fantastic! Although, I got a bit too excited and crashed immediately on the next course!

Overall, a lot of fun, but the learning curve is steep. I'll be back for more though!

Spooky - I get the key bug a lot too. Couldn't play the full version. But Cubbage gave me the pass to his key level, and it worked after collecting it about the 3rd try. So ask him for the pass and try collecting the key a couple times, hopefully it'll work eventually.2010-01-04 04:07:00

Well CCubbage, one play I said, ONE, just to see the changes since the beta. And I was still messing around a good deal of time later, I was still rubbish, but having a great time.

As awesome as always. I'll be back, again, and again, and again......

Thanks guys! I'm really glad the people who are giving this level a shot and putting a bit of time in are having a good time. I've been purposely letting it slip past cool pages and planning for long term plays - which is definately a better strategy for this level considering the learning curve.
