Starting my first level and I love your Tutorials the logic gates work great and I have my machines and elevators working flawlessly(so far). Where i am having trouble is when building blocks. Here is my basic problem. When I build a block three layers thick and try to remove the front layer with the cut out tool it removes all three layers even though i have the cursour set to a single layer deep. What am Ii missing, i am sure it is something simple but just cant figure it out. Any help would be great. Thanks | 2009-12-31 21:13:00 Author: s1ickrick Posts: 1 |

Only use 3 layers thick where you will keep things 3 layers thick. The rest of the time, use 3 separate layers and then you can easily tweak with the corner editor. As long as there is a bit exposed (even if you have to drill though the first two with a triangle cut) you can edit that layer. | 2009-12-31 21:16:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
jww is correct! It's annoying sometimes, yes. But it does work well and can be useful when you start getting into creating more! | 2010-01-02 16:23:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
It is annoying, but we all just have to get used to it. The reason why it deletes the whole block is because if the deletion block is over it, it deletes the whole thing. Just make it 3 layer and move it back and forth with L2 and R2. Hope this helps! | 2010-01-06 04:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
The easiest way to "cut" only the front layer out of a block 3 layers thick is to instead paint material with the thickness of the back 2 layers. Same thing to "cut" the front 2 layers just paint only the back layer. | 2010-01-06 05:24:00 Author: Unknown User |

Same thing to "cut" the front 2 layers just paint only the back layer. Hm... that was kinda confusing. (?) --- But yes, if you want different layers to have different shapes, you need to create them as separate pieces. Look closely at how MM and the community have carefully chosen the thickness of each layer to achieve their goals. Anyways, welcome to LBPC. | 2010-01-06 06:34:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
