"Pinball-Style" Piston Launcher trapping Sackboy

Archive: 3 posts

I've built a "pinball" style piston launcher that shoots a sackperson leftwards at about a 15% angle to the ground. To place the sackperson in front of the piston, I have an elevator (piston driven) that raises the sackperson from below until they are in front of the piston. It works, but about half the time, the piston springs out and for some reason the sackperson ends up behind the piston, trapped! I've tried adjusting the size of the pusher, the timing and trigger range of the proximity switch of the piston and the shape of both the elevator platform and the pusher block.

Any suggestions?

If necessary, I'll take a picture and write down all the settings.

I'd guess this is a collision detection issue. The Piston is moving so fast that the engine never actually realises that it is supposed to touch sackboy.

If you can jot down the settings that would probably help.

I've had this issue before using flipper motion as rtm223 says its probably a collision detection issue. I remedied my issues by making the material that the sackboy is being pushed by thicker, i originally had it one small grid thick. try adding a bit a time untill it works.

If not how about letting the piston get up to speed a bit more gradually using the proximity setting with switches

Hope this helps
