points system trouble for a deatmatch level
Archive: 4 posts
I have been working on a versus deathmatch level for the past few months. Since I feel the level genre is kinda overcrowded, I decided to some things differently with it. One of those thing was to make a points system capable of sorting out who won the match (no deathmatch I've played has this). The way the points system is intended to work is by giving all players an initial 1 million points, with no way of gaining any more points if they are lost, and have points naturally go down by the players getting killed by each other. Thus, the player who has gotten killed the least is the determined winner at the end of the match. I did some tests on the 1,000,000 points figure, and apparently, it'd 270 kills to reach 0, thus, 1 mil is a solid number. My difficulty is supplying the initial points quickly. From my understanding, I need a multiplier of 65, and an emit emitting prize bubbles at a 0.1sec frequency, if I wanted to achieve 1 million in 30 seconds. Of course, waiting a whole 30 seconds doing nothing is boring, and may cause some players to simply quit out So, my question is, What's the fastest way to get a player to one million points, and, how fast is that method compared my 30 second method? Thanks in advance | 2009-12-31 07:25:00 Author: TheLawnStink Posts: 98 |
1. Take out prize bubble and glue it dark matter block. 2. Save it as object. 3. Make dark matter block and place emitter at it. 4. Make emitter emit prize bubble dark matter combo. 5. Set emitter so it can only emit as much prize bubbles you want. 6. Unpause and wait for while. 7. Pause and remove all dark mater blocks. 8. Glue it where you want. Now you are merged all prize bubbles in one and when you collect it you will get 1,000,000 or what score you want instantly. I hope i helped. | 2009-12-31 09:58:00 Author: waD_Delma Posts: 282 |
I've heard that method makes the level lag a little so repeatedly emitting a block of something with loads of creature brains attached and an inverted grab switch linked to all of the brains so that as soon as the block is emitted it is killed. This would give the player 50 points per brain and this could all be done out of sight. Sorry if you didnt get that. Its kinda hard to explain and it is 3:44 in the morning | 2010-01-01 03:44:00 Author: R0GUE--Elite Posts: 118 |
brains work quite well. they distribute points evenly to every player if broken by switch | 2010-01-01 06:14:00 Author: mattbru77 Posts: 143 |
