I want a feature that highlights which levels require you to own this rather dubious looking device, before getting halfway through them and finding out you can go no further.

The device is penciled in for spring and the dev work for MM has clearly been underway, but do we expect another level pack so soon? Hmmmm.

Are pain and hustle kings any good? There's always a ton of dlc out for it on PSN but I've never looked at them.2009-12-29 09:17:00

Oooh, I didn't think there would be levels with this. Hmm. Yeah, Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings would work quite well with this. (Personally I'd love a Harry Potter Pack).

Some of those games sound interesting jump. I'll have to check out Champions of Time!

Have all these been confirmed/shown?

EDIT: Will we be able to create with the wands too? That would be so cool.

The style in the video looks amazing(except for the birds and the hedgehog thing). I'd maybe make the pink less bright though2009-12-29 11:47:00

As much as I love Harry Potter, I really hope it isn't that. It would make creating the other 6 Sacky Potter levels (assuming I can be bothered to make them) much better, but at the minute I'm oen of the few who have made a decent HP level, and if a HP pack came, everyone would be making them and my levels would lose their originality.

So I hope it's something different. Not sure what it could be though, because HP is the most obvious choice.

Well when the POTC pack was announced I remember thinking much the same thing about my pirate levels. I'm not so fussed now.

My levels (or one so far) got a makeover and it if leads to more fun levels being created I'm happy.

Your levels will likely still stand out as no doubt the vast majority would be duff and if there were one or two good ones, it would maybe give you that extra push to go create something even better.

No more update packs lol. And definetly not one that requires the stupid motion wand.

Everytime there is an update the cool pages become rotten for weeks !

Youtube is blocked here at work. What are the uses of the wand in LBP?
The only thing I've heard about so far is it can be used to move obstacles.

That looks like that's about it.

The video features two players, one playing as Sackboy with the standard controller, and the other using the wand as a sort of divine intervention.

There are objects that glow pink, and it's only these objects that the wand controls. Such as the end of a gigantic lever, that you can use the wand to pull back and forth, moving a platform of Sackboy to jump onto.

Kinda like how Sackboy can only grab on to sponge, the wand can only 'grab' the glowing pink stuff and doesn't effect anything else.
Looks really, really lame.

I'd imagine the wand would be far more useful for creating than it could for playing.

I think its going to involve Final Fantasy cause of "magic" (Float spell?) Yeah that's like a 0% chance of happening with Square being all picky with the whole Sephiroth costume bit, but I can dream can't I?2009-12-29 20:37:00

I simply don't want motion controls...

It's sad that there will probably be alot of man hours put into that instead of useful stuff like a creator pack or something.

Enough of the gimmicks already. The game already supports the useless camera. And where's my YouTube upload that was promised last year??

I do agree with that. I want higher resolution images from the in-game camera tool. Twice the size should be plenty. And I want image importing. And youtube HD uploading. NOW!!!! I WANT!!2009-12-30 03:10:00

a new creator pack is much needed... or, the folks at MM eluded that they would make LBP 2 a download addon to lbp 1 because of the hours weve spent on 1! when we gonna see LBP 2???2009-12-30 07:33:00

Actually, come to think of it, they won't need a level pack. Just an update... Hmm... Maybe Creator Pack 2?

Yeah - I really don't see much coming from this in LBP, it really is there just for gimmick value. I also don't want a controller that looks suspiciously like a very, very cheap sex toy knocking about in my living room

I am praying that this pack will never come out. Please man. The community would be ten times more messed up with some stupid wand! I mean do you have to buy it to play a level ? No way.

I want a good level pack like the mgs with some new truly usefull feature. So far the water has been kinda gimmicky and there arent alot of levels were you actually need the water and you couldnt make some own water instead.

But the mgs packs paintgun is usefull for alot of things. As its materials. I would pray for this to never ever come out !

*sigh* The water physics adds so much in the way of subtle enhancements to the game. Of course there aren't many levels that utilise this subtlety because it's only been out a week and we've just been spammed with crap levels.

What I'm saying is don't write off the water as gimmicky before you fully understand what can be done with it. It's like looking at the paintenator and saying, "well all I can do with it is make things die when I shoot them", which I'm sure you can agree is missing the bigger picture.

Although I am writing the wand off as gimmicky before seeing it. What? I'm not allowed to be a hypocrite now?

Im completely against this... It's such a pointless fature to have.

Actually, as long as there is a method of indicating which levels require this, we should be fine. When the feature is shiny and new (i.e. spamtime) I'd hope the majority of people won't have it. So spam is reduced. Also, if the PSMC owners are in the minority, levels that are flagged up as needing it will get fewwer plays, even further reducing spam.

This might not work out so bad y'know...

Ok first of all i think this is what you meant:

park pack

Also i agree i don't really think this motion controller thing is needed and i can't see it working well with lbp. I think it's an update possibly "too big" if you get what i mean it would change it too much and make it a diffrent game but i don't want LBP to become like this...

It seems like the motion controller would be optional, but who knows?

trine has something like that already.

My impression of this tool... Not so great, i mean it'd be awesome for co op levels, but i dont like the feel of it..

if it were like the paint gun, where u press R1 to grab something and use the stick to control it, i'd like it....but otherwise NO!!!....

this has been a message from GOD!

Well the obvious solution would to have an alternative tool in the popit that could allow for a DualShock-driven cursor. Actually, this should be a no-brainer for the people designing it - in fact I think I suggested such a thing when this video was first posted. Either that or someone else did and I thought it was a good enough idea to steal as my own

Why are you lot so against something you haven't even used? Yes, its potentially just a gimmick, but it won't make the game any worse. The worst that can happen is that no one uses it, which wouldn't be bad thing of course. On the plus side it can allow us to have new mechanisms in our levels and people who are confused by the amount of buttons on the joypad can enjoy the game with someone else without having to face the horror of the button.2009-12-31 11:36:00

That's exactly what I don't want. I don't want it to be a game changer. An handicap when you don't have it. If it's just new controls it's fine. People who want to have more trouble controlling sackboy will have the liberty to do so.
My second problem is that if it's a game changer or something that comes with levels, similarly to the POTC pack, this is man hours that could be put on DLC that would interest me more like a new creator pack for instance.

From what we can see in the one video it's not a game changer, it just more or less replaces the proximity switch.2009-12-31 18:13:00

Only if you are watching a different video....

There is no similarity between manual manipulation of objects and an automatic detection based upon sackboy position.

I'm more against the push towards these kinds of devices in general, you can go look through the old project natal thread if you want to know why. I don't mind it in LBP as long as there is an alternative interface or a flag to prevent me playing a level that requires it.

I don't like this, not one bit, it just doesn't feel like lbp to have a player lord over another player. Im not gunna spend money on a wand and junk just so that i can move pink stuff. This just isn't right what are they thinking??2009-12-31 20:08:00

I'm not sure if you guys are watching the right video because that Gem support looks incredible. I think that the next levels will contain Gem support and will probably have a Marvel Superhero theme. I'm thinking it'll probably be Iron Man since the next movie will be out before then.2009-12-31 22:34:00

i think i know what this would be for...an optional approach!

after all,if nintendo is any indicator...people are obsessed with motion controls!

so they would probably make it that the second person could use the pop-it...but they'll advertise the motion controls...

just like the minis on ps3!

Sony needs a motion controller type thing because everyone else is soon to have one

I guess Sony are making this because of Natal, and Natal is being made because of this.
The market for these things is apparently very big too since the wii seems to be selling a lot, although i doubt anyone is buying it just for the motion controls any more.

Oh and in LBP they'll probably go for something superhero'y. An Xmen pack perhaps?
Somethings with telekinesis anyway
Or many they'll just steer clear of that and release the "motion control pack".
