Two level in one project

Archive: 6 posts

I've been working lately on a interesting idea of making two levels in one! The level is going to be a survival horror type and its also going to be the sequel of one of my previous horror levels. What I want to try out is to make the level gameplay with multiple path choices. This means that there would also be different endings depending on what choices make or what routes you take.

The main point is to make the level long lasting and to make it different when people play it for the second time. I've seen similar ideas where people put stickers in the end of the level so you can unlock new features, but that's not what I want to make. Its kind of annoying to have a whole bunch of stickers stored, or worse, to get stuck on the level by forgetting to set on the "receive community prizes" option.

Instead, I'm thinking on making a gameplay system where you cant go back once you made your choice. This would give a tense feeling to the horror level! Well, I hope the thermometer doesn't explode since the level is going to be big, specially if I have to make two boss fights! Oh well, I'm gonna see what happens.:kz:

If you make two boss fights, you could make them linked to 2 seperate levels 2009-12-30 22:22:00

Hehe, that would mean a lot more of horror creating, XD. I would do that if the project gets fame. But for now I'm just gonna do this level and continue with another idea I have... A fantasy versus level!2010-01-09 04:37:00

This idea seems familiar...Doh! There were 2 levels that were merged in the MGS levels, you can take pictures beyond the scoreboard on one of the episodes and you can see part of the NEXT episode and if you notice the ep. after that starts off with a CHECKPOINT! Ahh...mystery eh? I don't know why I brought that out, but yeah..This idea reminded me of it. Goodluck with it! Remember, that Thermometer and stab you in the back.2010-01-09 05:41:00

that may be hard to do if you trying to save your thermo, you could have one boss fight but you could change stuff, like the behavior or difficulty, keeping to this idea, you could go on one path, but use emitters to change stickers or light level?

its quite a good idea and i will have a think about that, but i have never tried to make a boss!

I have made many boss fights and they are really fun to do. I would have to admit that my main inspiration on making boss fights was the MGS pack final level. Anyways, I'm not so worried about the thermometer since I've developed some really useful techniques that allow me to laugh in the face of the thermo! XD

The only thing that worries me is one side of the level which will be a haunted library. Just thinking about the great possibilities I could do raises the thermometer really high and it would be boring if the thermo prevents me from making a long lasting level. Then again, I shouldn't worry about that either, since the library will be one big puzzle and that will be enough to make the level long lasting.

Oh well, I should just give it a shot and see how far can I make this double level! BTW, 25% is already done and still have plenty space to create more stuff.
