LBPC:The Game Create Contest

We at LBPC: The Game (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=10722) have concocted deep in the dungeons and torture chambers labs of Mount Peanut LBPC HQ a level that requires many rooms, that we want you to help build.

There is a template level on my account. Copy it to your moon, and edit it. The level is

Name: LBPC the Game Create Contest

Rules


You may not move the sponges or Checkpoints.
You may, however, change the materials and look- the sponge must still be a sponge however.
You must be able to get to all four checkpoints from any four checkpoints, and not be able to change anything in play mode that makes it impossible to go another way.
Your room should be based off a Social Group, a list of possible choices are found below.
Do not go out of your 15x15 area outside the walls.
You have a limit of 15 score bubbles you may place creatively throughout your room.
NOTHING outside the space provided!
Don't go too crazy with the thermometer.
Winners should be published in a copyable level. Post in this thread with the tag #submission.
You may submit as many rooms as you like.
Every chosen room nets you 100 experience. The five best rooms will receive 500 experience.

Try to be fairly obvious with which social group you choose, and do not include any characters.

Also, in regards to social groups, try to keep them to fairly active groups, and do not make any groups just so you can make a room based off of them.

This contest ends whenever we feel like we have enough.

Yeah, tis confusing I know.

Basically it means you have to make it so that you can get to each checkpoint from each checkpoint. Also, you cannot change during play this- so no dissolve collapsing things behind you so you are blocked from going back. So basically you must always be able to get to the other three checkpoints from any of the other checkpoints.

Also, I checked and we may have room for 169 of these, if thermo is not a problem which it will be. so yeah, we need a LOT

and don't worry if someone already took a social group, we'd prefer multiple of the same kind ^-^

Both. It has to have some sort of gameplay mechanic that allows you to get to all four grab thingies, and should look decent, of course not thermo intensive.

Really how you design it is up to you We're looking for a variety of things here, so a room with some sort of puzzle is as good as a room with a platforming challenge is as good as a room with amazing layer scenery.... er at least i imagine thats the case.

And like rock said, we're looking to pick the best for the game, and we might even have more than one room for each group if its that hard to decide, so if someone else is making it, show us your version!

And no, can't use water since water's global and it would defiintally interfere with other rooms.

Sure. Just don't go outside the frame. Also, don't go crazy with thermo- there NEEDS to be a ton of these rooms.

As long as you finish a room, I honestly don't care .

However, if we accept your room (to be honest we probably will unless it's outright horrible), you'd have to split the exp. So you'd get 50exp, and whoever you make the room with would get 50exp. Of course you can make multiple rooms, but yeah.

Anyway... I made my own, peanut themed room yesterday :arg:. Not too spectacular, but you can travel freely between the four checkpoints, and that's all that matters.

Speaking of something with no relevance to that, please don't call out groups. I want over 100 of these rooms (yeah, in my dreams, right? ;- so multiple of the same kind will be... gooooooooooooooood.

Yay, I got my first room (Joey's). Keep em coming- just remember to be simple (Joey used cardboard/basic sponge, so maybe keep it that way?) and that you have a maximum of 10 prize bubbles to place throughout your room.2009-12-30 00:46:00

Yay! Wait, are you making a room, or...?

Ok, I'll take this opportunity not to double post to say I need more rooms- remember, simpler the better, so I can fit many of them.

Cardboard/regular sponge may be good stickered if you want to really help thermo wise.

Anyway... yeah, if you are making a room, please tell me :arg:

The rooms are a bit. "big" to be simple, I mean you gave us 20 x 20 I'm trying to impress you and I don't want to be repeating gameplay.

Ok, made a new copyable template, this time 15x15. sorry Joey/KernelM, your old ones are being thrown out ;-;

Anyway, please, remember:

NOTHING outside the space provided- no logic outside. In fact, just try and stay away from logic altogether.

SIMPLE materials. If I was any smarter and more capable, I'd make a list of useable materials- but alas I am not, so please use your best judgement and not use materials no one else would- cardboard, sponge, basically regular materials stickered.

Also, remember to place your 15 (I'm raising it to 15) score bubbles around your room. No more, maybe less.

Anyway... remember, keep it simple. Please. ;-;

Mkay, so as to actually have you guys have an idea what's going on, I'mma gonna play it straight, yo.

This is a "contest" in the vaguest sense. Pretty much it's just a way for you to contribute to this awesome minigame idea I had, and I threw in a prize to the top 5 or whatever, but yeah not too contesty.

So, I'll tell you what exactly you're making so you can actually make it.

This level will be a teleport maze. Those sponges actually will emit a gas that kills you, and the switch activated checkpoints (this level couldn't work without them) will activate the cooresponding checkpoint in a room somewhere far off. This would, ideally, create a giant mass of rooms. the only real hope of being able to find the way and get the high score is the most ancient of video game concepts- pen and paper maps.

So I suppose I should say to have a magic mouth somewhere, or a space in the upper left that says "A3" or something like that (or just a space where I can add later) so the map can be more easily made.

So yeah, THAT'S what you're making. A room in a giant teleportation maze series of rooms. And I know kinda how to relate it to LBPC XD, but yeah.

So that's why I say to be able to get to any checkpoint from any other checkpoint- you can enter the room from any checkpoint and leave from any other. So you can't make it so that you enter from the left, press a switch that blocks the path back- it kinda may ruin the maze.

... So, does THAT make any more sense? ... and please don't steal this idea, this is the best level idea i'll EVER have... EVER.

Alrighty! thanks kendan, it'll work methinks. Removed the music and magic mouth though... hm.

Anyway, yep... thanks for making it 15x15. Also, I repped you, which probably gave you a huge boost... thenatos, if you want your rep for helping just post in this thread.

Anyway, you two will split the 100 exp, just in case you care. feel free to make another room

Also, since Kernel's/ Joey's rooms are now too big... sorry, can't use them

So as it stands now, kendan/thenatos' one is the only one I actually have :kz:

Seems like what i'm looking for- may need to make it cardboard, unless you make more Survivor rooms and use planks for those.

Also, please make it copyable so I may make it my own object- I want to be able to edit it to suit my needs, which I can't since it's still technically your object.

Also, the crab claws should probably go. Also, add some score bubbles- you have up to 15 you can place around the room, so do it

Speaking of which- people, don't bother adding music in. I'll handle music later (hopefully I'll be able to include music more fitting for the rooms, but if thermo is an issue, at least this will help me figure it out).

That said, giving me ideas of the music you'd PREFER for it in case I can add music would be nice .

And remember, these rooms should be part of a maze- think of those teleportation puzzles in stuff I can't remember. you use portals to get to other places. the point of these rooms, thusly, should be to get to other portals, and be able to do so many times so a person could never be trapped.

I think mr radical did an excellent job with the platforming side here, to be honest... not taht you'd see unless he makes it copyable... but once he makes the adjustments I said, I COULD use it as sortof an "example" room...

i do have the 15 points in there. they're on an emitter. every few seconds that a player is on the center rotating square a point will drop out up to 15 bubbles. crabs.... if they need to go, I guess I can just turn them into a regular platform.

i'll make a few more rooms up if it means I get to keep my planks!

sorry bout not making the room copy-able. i'll fix that right away.

That may be good... Would you do anything besides that like with stickers, if not I could do that... but yeah it wouldn't look as good ;-;

Basically we're going to have it have a grab switch that emits a block of horrible gas and activates a different checkpoint.

Eh, not too sure if this is still going... I could try and see if someone on my team wants to make all 100+ rooms, because as it stands right now I have no hopes of ever making it there/ fitting it all.

So don't bother making more rooms right now- If we don't do it, then I'll personally pay exp to those who did make something... as soon as exp's back :/
