Animato: A 2D-animation system for in your levelsrobinlint
Inspired by TINTED's LittleBigMovies.

Animato is an animation system that is inspired on TINTED's LittleBigMovies. It doesn't need an entire level, takes up less thermometer, and you use it via a "linking" system. An animation of 110 frames takes up about a quarter of the level. The system can be used for making your own funny movies but also for adding cutscenes to a level.
Every block is made up of sub-blocks of 10 frames. There is a block for starting the animation, a block of 10 frames, a block of 50 frames, and an animation template of 110 frames.

There is no cart with a magnetic key, no complicated logic mechanism to control how the animation plays - Just place it and link it. Once the first block is started, and the piston reaches the bottom, it starts the linked block next to it, and once that one finishes, it starts the one linked next to it, and so on. It's sort of a chain reaction.
This is how you start it:

Once it's started, every permanent switch will be activated, so be sure to test it out in PLAY MODE instead of create mode.

There are basically four steps to making an animation with Animato:

1. Put a "Start of an animation" block where you want it.

2. Put either the 10 frames or 50 frames block next to it (the object is too large to make a photo of)

3. Link them both together. Here you see the top of two Animato blocks. Simply link the switch with the sign that says "Next 10 frames" to the dissolve material of the one that says "LINK HERE".

4. Begin stickering the frames.

5. If you decide you need more frames, just grab another 10 frames or 50 frames object and link it.

OR,
1. Put an "Animation (110 frames)" block in the level
2. Begin stickering

It's sort of comparable to lego.

If you like it, please rate it 4 or 5 stars.

Bumping, because it's been about a month and no replies yet. I'd like people to be aware of this animation system because it is good for making cutscenes in a level.2010-02-21 02:45:00
