LBP: RockBand Formula

Archive: 6 posts

I found a way (but its a prototype) to make the notes fall correctly in my upcoming level ( thats been in the dark because for formula problems to begin with!) LitttleBigPlanet: RockBand. The idea sprang to me when I was playing RockBand 2 on Christmas (Who would have thought?). Well any way heres the formula.

If you dont understand it heres how ot works.

A block with a piston set to to directional (Out) will have mag keys that read switches (from this thing I call "The Conductor") connected to 4 On/Off switches controling emitters. The emitters emit notes for 1 of the 4 lines (green, Red, Blue ect.)

I need to find ways to make the notes fall correctly.

I also have a Fail (Still working out Pass) Formula:

Everytime you miss a note it passes a key that dissolves the note and triggers and on/off switch connected to an emitter to emit a block. That block then hits a button connected to a Dissolved Based counter (at least thats what I think it is) and the counter dissolves the dissolve blocked until they are all gone. Thus after they are all gone you fail and explode.

I hope I made it clear enough for people to understand. Tell me what you think. And I will put out a Single-player/ Multi-player formula for you to be able to play by youself (Since you cant hit all the notes yourself)

Pass Formula
I found a way to make the Pass Switch! Just put an emitter connected to an On/off switch on the Dissolve Based Counter and let it emit a dissolve with a key in the counter.

So when you miss you loose a block. Everytime you hit (hitting a note with a sticker switch on it) you gain a block to put it in a nutshell. Cool right?

My biggest question about RB on LBP is how does sackboy control it. To be fun he needs to be able to press 4 buttons almost instantly. What's your plans?2009-12-27 16:44:00

Well I have two Ideas for how sackboy will control it. He will either hit buttons at a certain point to make the notes hit or sticker the notes to hit them. I am experimenting with both and each have a unique trait that makes it a valuable part of the level.

I have an Idea for you about controls, you have a square block put it on the front plane then some how give the sack boy a jet pack, the block will be made out of 4 different sides tht are glue together to form the square the smaller the better now the idea is tht when sack boy gets the jet pack he goes to the front plane inside the box so when you hold up on the analog stick and press r1 that is one note right + r1 is another, down + r1 is another, etc.

tht way the sackboy doesnt have to press 4 switches or sticker them.

if you dont understand ill try and do a picture or show you in a level ( i never have been good at explaining things in text form)

I think ash's ideas would give quicker responses.

Even quicker might be left button, right button, jump button and grab below. All in a very small box. The advantage of that is it means the layout of buttons on the pad is in a row.

Obviously would need testing for speed
