Light, Cameras, Sound (Visual Pack)

Archive: 13 posts

Hey I have this idea for a new pack (alot like the Logic Pack).
But as you see by the tilte it will be about visual effects.
So I was thinking should we (LBPCental) should do it.

It would be stuff like "Setting the scene" and someother things.
I thought I better ask you all to see if anyone is willing to help and make this as good as the Logic pack (unlikly).

Or if anyone has anything to say about this, if you are realy intreasted them send me a PM message or just post here.

It would be a pack to help people to use the reasourses.

Anymore question please ask me.

You can help too!

Thanks

Any examples of things you would include? It might convince a few people to join up if they can see you are taking the project seriously. Sorry this is from a phone.2009-12-27 01:05:00

Would you intend for this to be like the logic pack, with generic tools, or more of a tutorial based "tips and tricks" thing? The way you describe in the last post makes me think you're leaning towards the latter, but IDK.2009-12-27 13:44:00

Unlike logic that often doesn't change very much inbetween levels, lighting is a far harder subject and more often than not there's no set of 'standardizable' techniques.

What these levels should cover would probably be something akin to visual cues, smooth lightning transitions, (un)favorable camera angles and color composition, eg, showing the player a scene with different global lightning/spots in order for them to get an idea on how much cold/warm lightning actually matters, as compared to plain white. (I'm not saying plain white is BAD. It has very specific usage scenarios.).

As far as sound goes, it has been previously discussed just how underused many of the sounds are, while others get attention to the point where they are overused.

Maybe a small segment on music and how you can do more with less.

I'm not saying its a bad idea at all. As I see it, lights are a part of the geometry and there's almost no way to define a 'right' way to do it. rtm223s suggestion of a tips and tricks level sounds far more feasible than a megaproject like the logicpack was.

I think a tips pack would be more, with a few bits of visual and sound-based logic.

Like the follow spotlight at the beginning of Introduction.

Yea I think it would be a very good idea because some people like me are not really good with scenery and lighting and other scenery stuff like sound but yea if it is done correctly I think it would be very helpful to many people.2009-12-29 04:46:00
