Virtual Reality - Survival Challengev0rtex/v0rtex2002
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u180/v0rtex2002/LBP%20Virtual%20Reality%20Survival%20Challenge/APhoto_39.jpgA survival challenge based on the Virtual Reality Training section of my 00Sack-Betrayed level. Make your way through each room before your time expires and the next room drops down around you. The longer you stay alive, the less time you'll have.

I'm going to start referring to v0rtex as the Henry Ford of LBP. He's managed to construct a system that allows for interchangeable rooms to be made in any style that can be updated, rearranged or completely overhauled whenever he likes. It's a technical tour de force and the most impressive part for me is as a player you never know it's there. The rooms are fun, complex and varied and to get high scores you have to use strategy and speed to your advantage. It's completely addictive and for bubble freaks like myself it's a blast to combo your way though this one. Highly recommended and one of my all time favorites.Bringing back the most technically impressive part of 00Sack:Betrayed was a masterstroke by v0rtex2002. Room upon room of point bubble collecting and hazard avoiding brilliance that keeps you on your toes, and forces to you keep a keen eye on the ever ticking timer before the next room falls on your head. Filled with excellent gameplay and some very impressive technology, this level is an absolute blast.I'm always up for a good survival challenge and this is a seriously good survival challenge. Looks so simple to the player initially, but there's plenty going on behind the scenes and it's excellent fun and a challenge to boot.I would pay to see what is going on behind the scenes in this level, a technically awe-inspiring survival challenge that turns out to be an enormous pack of fun as well. Every room is different and all of them contain great gameplay. Strategy and a clear mind are needed if one wants to see his name up on the scoreboard.Take most peoples favourite part of 00Sack:Betrayed and put it in a survival challenge. It sounds as exciting as it is - and anyone who played the original in 00Sack:Betrayed will be salvating at the mouth already! Room falls onto room and then another...until you finally succumb to old age (if you're Grant) or more likely don't make it to the safe zone. It's fun but comes with this warning - this is very addictive! OH NO!!! THE PRINCESS!!! World 5: The SkyCaptainCowboyHat/CaptainCowboyHat
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj119/tumorzombie/APhoto_19.jpgThe adventure (finally) continues. Enjoy my overuse of both the "eerie wind" sound and the "wooden crate" material, and the portion of the level where I totally rip off New Super Mario Brothers Wii. Also attempt to find my most obscure secret ever!

He's back! More diabolical platforming to take on from CaptainCowboyHat. All the challenge of his previous levels and then some. I love that what at first run through may seem like an impossible or tricky place in the level will become easier the longer you stick with it. Once you make it through it's such an amazing feeling. On top of that there's the same irreverent sense of humour from the King as you try and, what were we doing again? Oh yea, saving the princess. She better appreciate it as much as I appreciate this level series.Ive had a little hiatus from LBP recently, and let me tell you, you lose your skills quicker with age the less you play. So, CaptainCowboyHats new level in this superb series, was the way to get fingers and brain working LBP-stylee again. Excellently challenging, brilliantly designed, and very, very funny, this got me into LBP again with a bang, and even if you're still a seasoned player, this will give you a challenge. Simply awesome.I can hardly think of a level that's brought such satisfaction upon completion. This series is IMO the best around for platforming action and that each one is twice as good as the previous one is frightening. Also means I'm counting the days til world 6.These levels are made with true gamers in mind who remember the time when the word ?challenge? actually meant something. You might feel frustrated about halfway through yet the feeling quickly vanishes and is replaced with a sheer sense of victory when you reach the end. A scoreboard has never looked this good before. They keep on getting better and better which also means it will be a sad day when we eventually rescue the princess, I really hope it turns out she?s in yet another castle. We know what to expect from certain creators, and CaptainCowboyHat delivers his classic platforming style with a vengence this time. It'll take you time to finish this - even longer with more players. But don't be afraid to invest the time because this one feels like a difficult, yet rewarding, World 6. OMG Its a Robot Revolution!wexfordian/wexfordian
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=509&pictureid=9679Its a psuedo 2D old style arcade game similar to Choplifter but with plasma balls and robots. It's your classic "Retro robots are destroying New York and all the American Army can apparently send is you and your little helicopter to save the day" kind of stories.

Everyone knows Wexfordian makes some of the best levels in LBP but he's really outdone himself this time. Innovative, fun, and full of action this level is a very memorable experience. The robots are fantastic and the lights and sound effects are first class. The robot design contest winners look amazing in the city scape that Wex has set them in. This technically impressive and challenging level has me wondering if there is anything Wex can't do? I hope I never find out and he keeps sending more outstanding levels to the community. Well done yet again Wex! Wexfordian, appearing in the spotlight? I call shenanigans!! Seriously though, Wexfordian always tries to explore something completely new and different with each of his levels, either in gameplay or visuals, and this one is no different. What more can we say? This arcade shooter is a sackboy sized technical masterpiece that takes you through a fun challenge to blast as many robots to droiddom come while also being a rescue mission. A great achievement once more, definitely worth checking out.Wexfordian........new level...........enough said. Well I will say, its all kinds of awesome, but hey, you knew that by the first three words. The king of the spotlight, the sackies and maybe even the LBP world returns with his latest level - OMG! All you need to know is it's fun, addictive and awesome. Please share your pot of gold...en lbp levels with us Wex! Novelty Wavesmother-misty/mother-misty
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r80/Zwollie/Eenfoto-5.jpg?t=1261595625A colourful race for bubbles in a geometric abstract environment.

Mother-misty's imagination is as colourful as her levels I'd wager. Her latest level, in the abstract geometric style she's known for, is a race against the clock in a quest for bubble domination. Impressive sticker work and a breathtaking spectrum of colours await you as you jump, swing, fly and force your way through obstacle after obstacle. A lot of fun to race with your friends against as well. Continuing along the same line of her previous hit, Ananas, Mother-misty showcases another colourful world of bubble-race madness. Her slick, geometric skills are top notch once more with some very interesting contraptions and obstacles being a joy to mess around with. If you have some friends in your pod looking for some entertainment, you can?t go wrong by giving this level a try.Mother-misty is fast becoming the queen of point-bubble-combo-collecting-over-great-hazards, and this level does'nt disappoint. Its eye-poppingly beautiful, some of the in-sync hazards and sections and are an absolute joy to look at as they are to play. And the re-playability is through the roof. A great level by a wonderful creator.Mother-misty is turning into one of the happiest creators I think I've ever seen in LBP. Any of her levels are guarenteed to get a smile back on your face with their bright colours, chirpy music and fun bubble collecting sprees. Be warned though, playing this followed by Ananas is likely to give you mouth pains from so much smiling. I don't think I ever have such a desire to collect score bubbles as I do in Mother-Misty's levels. For some reason I'm like a man possessed. Unfortunately not possessed by anyone who is any good at the game as I still end up 4,000th on the scoreboard. It's also absolutely gorgeous in motion. The timing is perfect and it really is quite the spectacle of movement and colour. The Odyssey: Prologue - Journey to TroyDuffluc/Duffluc
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d43/duffluc/APhoto_29.jpgFocus your senses and sharpen your blades, The Trojan war is about to begin! In this short but atmospheric level, you will leave Greece aboard a mighty Trireme and set a course for the Trojan city of Troy. This level serves as an introduction to a series I am working on, so don't judge it by its length!

If eye candy and classical Greek architecture are your thing, this is a must see level. Superb buildings, a very cool ship and haze covered cliffs make for great sightseeing in this shot but sweet level. Can't wait for the carnage promised in the sequel! As far as prologues go, this is one worth checking out, if only it was to admire the architecture on display here. An amazing looking level that builds up the excitement of things to come. Very interested to see where this series takes us in the near future.Ancient Greece has never looked so appealing to me than it did in this level. Sure it's short, but it'll leave you biting at the chomp for the next level so keep your eye out for it.Mechanica - District 15Duffluc/PDuffluc
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d43/duffluc/APhoto_24.jpgSomething is amiss in District 15... Corrupt robots and odd machines have been churning out of the mechanical factory, and it's up to you to stop them!

Making a second appearence in this spotlight, Duffluc has created a level with a unique combination of VR material and silhouette technique that makes this a very interesting level to check out. Difficult platforming challenges such as creature brain hopping and furious paintinator boss action will keep you on your toes throughout this ominous feeling level. There's "Something is amiss in District 15" indeed!Silhouette levels can be an easy way out in some cases but this is a prime example on how to do it right. An exciting level that, on top of being a real visual treat, showcases some excellent little gameplay elements that I hadn?t seen done just this way before. The robot assembly line is a real highlight, I suggest you go visit District 15 today!!This level is visually striking, has some original puzzles, and a great boss. So, you need no more persuading than that, go play it, love it, heart it, rate it five stars. Cause this is a classic, no doubt about that.Sad to see that this level only has 3 stars. A quick look at the newly implemented stats page tells you that only a small percentage of the players have played it to completion, which unfortunately explains it all. It also serves as an indication to how tricky this level can be in places. When you throw in the stylish visuals and intricately layered, er, layers you have a level you don't want to miss.Dead Memories - Part OneRoseScythe/RoseScythe
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1961&d=1261096366With midnight comes the choking heat. Flames render the silence. Clutched in darkness she sleeps. Our Lady Overkill? It's a Puzzle/horror inspired by exalted_yawn's ingenious levels; set in an abandoned hospital and borrows elements from games like 'Silent Hill' and movies like 'The Ring' etc. The level features a highly detailed, creepy atmosphere, tricky puzzle elements and a few moments that will get your heart pounding.

This level should come with a warning for those with heart conditions! Seriously scary and guaranteed to surprise you at least once on your trek through it's dark and scary corridors. It's got the perfect atmosphere for potential paranormal activity and it's a brilliant example of layering lighting, materials, stickers, sound effects and story to get the biggest emotional response from the player LBP can. It's got great timing for scary moments and will leave you feeling anxious and glad to have made it out alive?. or did you?I am so relieved no one was with me when I was playing this level, it saved me the effort of trying to convince others that the girly scream they just heard came from someone else. Great puzzles can be found here if you have the courage to see it all the way through. A genuine scary level that evokes the atmosphere of the earliest Silent Hill games. If all goes well, there should be a part 2 coming soon..I?m not sure if I?m ready for that just yet.Striking visuals and some fantastic puzzles are the name of the game here. There's a very uneasy atmosphere and definetly a few scares, I was on the edge of my seat all the way through, and I have no doubt you will be too.As a 28 year old ex-bouncer, I like to think that I'm quite brave, and old enough to not get scared of things off the TV.. I've waded into bar brawls where there have been glasses and bottles flying past my head and not given it a second thought. I've faced down groups of 15 and 20 drunken aggressive guys and laughed it off afterwards. About halfway through this level I changed my Sackboy from a pirate into something bright with a big silly face just so I could remind myself I was only playing LBP and to take my mind off the fact that the hairs on the back of my neck were standing on end. If you like scary movies, you cannot miss this.Planet Xladylyn1/ladylyn1
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1938&d=1260695676Grab your space suits and prepare for an adventure like no other! This is about my 23rd level and I would say its probably my most exciting and entertaining to date. I tried to make it funny too... I hope it is! It was inspired by the Planet X level seen on the Timesplitters series! But its not a replica.

Space is generally a serious place, but not so in this level by ladylyn. Irreverent humour and an engaging story drive the action in this out of this world level. A nice cinematic and a campy but very cute title sequence are the appetizers to the main course of paintinator action. So yea, grab your spacesuit and check this one out!Space, the final frontier?for comedy. Thanks to ladylyn?s funny bone, I was smiling all the way through this hilarious & exciting spacequest. Great run & gun gameplay, some solid platforming and heaps of giggles make this an adventure most worthy of your attention. Highly recommended after a bad day at work or school.I laughed all the way through this level, the character designs are simply fantastic, and the dialogue sparkles with great lines and laugh out loud moments. When you add in the fact its great to play, and has a great a story, its a perfect antidote to a bad day. And if you havnt had a bad day? Well, it will make a good day even better.I was always going to love this level. Camp, funny sci-fi is right up my street and ladylyn1 does it wonderfully. From the knowing jokes about Sackboy's inability to face away from the camera to the 50's style bad guys with their laser guns, you'll be smiling constantly.

I've played most of these, and am honored to be included in such a fine collection of creative work. Nice job and congratulations to the rest of the creators represented here.

And at the risk of bi-monthly redundancy - it really does bear repeating - a huge thank you to the tireless Spotlight Crew, always on the prowl for new gems to be showcased here. Well done, as usual!

It's a little christmas miracle the spotlight got out on time with the site being down messing up some plans here and there but we made it in the end.

It was a joy to play through these levels as always, the quality this forum provides makes our job that much more enjoyable.

I'd estimate I've played around 50% of the last 4 spotlights. I'm starting to think I need to take a week off work to catch up with LBP, it's like a freakin' full time job I tell ya!

Epic work, folks.

One suggestion: should we make a sort of gallery for these in-game? Either a key showcase or an account would work.

I've been working on this for a few months and can't find a good way for it to work. Since we can only have around 10-12 pages of hearted levels before they start dropping off I can't get all 29 spotlights onto one account. Until there's a better way to compile these I suggest you can print out or take notes of the levels in the spotlight or just check out my hearted levels as I usually heart the levels in the spotlight. It's not a perfect solution but it's the best I have for now.

@Morgana: I was thinking more of a level instead, with keys. Each episode can have its own level and a summary, with pictures.

Yikes... That would be quite a huge undertaking for someone to do!!

The spotlight team already spends a ton of time playing the levels and writing them up, I doubt they would have the time to do this as well. ...unless of course you are volunteering, but even then you could only have 20 spotlights out of the 29.

We have hopes for the web portal soon, so if / when that happens, the showcase template can have a link to the level's page making it a few simple clicks for people to get from

Spotlight Thread -> Level Thread -> Portal Page -> Add to in game queue.

This would effectively invalidate any undertaking done at this point.

for the time being, typing in a level name / creator name in the search box really isn't that much effort when you know what sort of quality you are gonna get.

Great job everyone. I'll spare you my ussual blathering about how much I appreciate everyones time, effort and talent. But I mean it.

I really need to get something published. I've been tinkering on 4 projects for the last several months as well as my original published level. Hopefully, something will get published soon.

It really doesn't pay to be a perfectionist (in my case) especially when your skills (in my case) are far from perfect.

These levels are so awesome... !

I've played Planet X (Ladylyn makes fantastic levels !), The prologue of The Odyssey, Novelty Waves and Dead Memories. I enjoyed each level I played.

First, I was a little afraid about Novelty Waves, I've played so many cubical colorful levels (just like some LEGO ones) trying to hide a lack of realism and imagination, but I got ashamed after playing it ! It's fun, enjoyable, neat, clever ! (and it ain't cubical at all...)

I've been impressed by Planet X too. Usually, I don't really like futuristic levels (I'm not keen on that atmoshere, a little too... um, tinny, sanitized) but this one was pretty funny.

I haven't completed Dead Memories, I've gotten stuck in a place with four skull, but I loved the vibes, terrific !

I've waited for the sequel to The Odyssey since I completed the level, it's a promising series, and I'm a big fan of Greek mythology

Great job, guys ^^

This has been a discussion for a while now, if true I don't hear him/her complain or speak up to set us straight.
(Either that or he/she is having a jolly good laugh)

You sure you are not confusing users here, Tawarf? I know Ladylynn turned out to be a guy but thats about it, no?

My feeling is this.... if someone uses a feminine PSN name, I will refer to them as "She". If someone uses a masculine PSN name, I will refer to them as "He". Period.

This has been a discussion for a while now, if true I don't hear him/her complain or speak up to set us straight.
(Either that or he/she is having a jolly good laugh)

You sure you are not confusing users here, Tawarf? I know Ladylynn turned out to be a guy but thats about it, no?

Yeah im a guy! lol i doesn't bother me if someone refers to me as a girl.

It was my fault anyway- choosing that name an' all.

Yeah...
Cubbage sound like cabbage
Cabbage is a vegetable
Vegetables are in soup
Soup is made in a kitchen
A Woman should be in the kitchen!

Sorted!
