You don't know what you have to do there. You don't know what it is. But you want to know it... A funny tour through a crazy factory with a lot o secrets - enjoy it!" all Hi guys - i've made a new level! I tried to make a very different level - a crazy colorful and multifarious level. I think the description says all you should know. This has taken about 8 weeks resp. about 200 hours to complete. I hope you like it. Here are some Screens: http://www.ps3page.de/wp-content/gallery/libipl/ein-foto_0.jpg http://www.ps3page.de/wp-content/gallery/libipl/ein-foto_2_1.jpg http://www.ps3page.de/wp-content/gallery/libipl/ein-foto_7.jpg THE VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zO4absyYog&feature=sub (thank you JHKthree) | 2009-12-26 14:32:00 Author: theCooper Posts: 72 |
Looks Awesome! Can't wait | 2009-12-26 16:21:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
That 2nd screen is very impressive, will be checking this one out! | 2009-12-26 22:29:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
Played through the level twice. Great looking level with some great gameplay ideas. I loved the boxes that launched the player. Hadn't seen that before! Great idea! The biggest problem I had with the level my have to do more with my taste. I want constant gameplay with little to no down time. I never want to "just walk" or wait for a death teleport. I found myself doing both of those a lot during the level. Again definitely my preference, but it seems like you could have kept the randomness theme of the level and still included crazy obstacles to traverse. Level felt more like a tour of the factory rather than a level. | 2009-12-27 15:30:00 Author: ElGueroGigante Posts: 85 |
"Level felt more like a tour of the factory rather than a level. " That's how it should be. Quote from my description: "...A funny tour through a crazy factory with a lot o secrets - enjoy it!" But thank you for your feedback | 2009-12-28 00:23:00 Author: theCooper Posts: 72 |
Some very weird and wacky design in there but I wasn't so keen on the gameplay I'm afraid. The boxes that are supposed to launch you up didn't work properly when sackboy is standing on them which kind of defeats the purpose. It took me ages to eventually get up there which turned what should have been a fun part into a frustrating one. I too wasn't thrilled with the constant black screens and death transportations. Maybe you could have used a switch that we could have used to activate the next checkpoint and let us 'pop' ourselves? | 2009-12-28 01:56:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
Well... "I too wasn't thrilled with the constant black screens and death transportations. Maybe you could have used a switch that we could have used to activate the next checkpoint and let us 'pop' ourselves?" But could you tell me what was wrong whith the "black-screen-transport"? In the most levels there is only one setting. But in my level there are about 6 different settings..... there arent so many possibilities to bring the player from one place to the next. But of course - I accept every opinion - everyone has a different taste. | 2009-12-28 03:02:00 Author: theCooper Posts: 72 |
I don't think there was any problem with the manner in which you had the transitions occur, but it just happened so often it was almost overkill. What I was going for, and I think Vista would agree, is maybe just have the player actually take part in the transitions to the different areas rather than have them constantly occurring without much play interaction. Have the player overcome a certain obstacle or solve a puzzle that causes the transition rather than having them just occur out of nowhere. Even doing a super mario like effect of jumping into a pipe or entering a machine. Not just a random transition. You mentioned that you were going for a different kind of level and you definitely succeeded. I'll play it again and see if I can suggest anything else. Anyways, could you check out my newest level and let me know what you think. Link is in my signature. Thanks! | 2009-12-28 06:23:00 Author: ElGueroGigante Posts: 85 |
I liked it alot, though I did have problems with the teleports too. Like ElGueroGigante said, maybe have them jump into a machine or something like that. The part with the box launching you worked fine for me, but the lag ruined it online. All in all a very good lvl, gave 5 stars and a heart. Forgot to tag it, sorry. | 2009-12-28 09:07:00 Author: srgt_poptart Posts: 425 |
Thank you for your feedback srgt_poptart! Yea - a machine for the transport were a great idea. I would make this if i had the change... but it's to late. | 2009-12-28 11:36:00 Author: theCooper Posts: 72 |
If you want to play the level - it's on page 2 of cool levels now. I hope for some feedback... | 2009-12-30 20:23:00 Author: theCooper Posts: 72 |
Just found this last night. I absolutely ADORE the color scheme you used in this! Reminds me of all the delicious gradient colors used in the original three Spyro the Dragon games. =) To me, the gameplay was kicked back and casual...I like that! I didn't have a problem with the box machine. I even managed to get up there while reading the speech bubble. I have to agree on the transitions, though. They just come out of nowhere sometimes leaving me like, "What just happened?". All in all, I really liked it! I give it 4 outta 5 stars and tagged as Satisfying. PS. I plan on getting a recording of this done later. I would've done it last night but I was sad and tired. | 2009-12-30 20:38:00 Author: GreyMRP Posts: 588 |
It was awesome ! Words escape me. I especially liked the way you make everything with one (or almost) material, but with a lot of stickers (you don't use green sponge to make the grass. It's a detail but it's terrific) It just looks-like a cartoon, it's amazingly cute. I also love how you make shapes : twisted, not perfectly straight (especially the doors). It's just beautiful. First, I was like " Hey, *****, isn't he working on a new episode of Lost Colors ?! " , but you can make any levels, it will please me. You're an amazing creator and this level were magical By the way, not really impotant, but could you please tell me where you found the pin template that you put on the forum, with your level icon inside it ? I've been looking for something like that for a while ! | 2009-12-30 22:53:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
While I'll agree to a point with the complaints about the teleportations, I think they lent well to the sense of quirky, magical confusion you were trying to achieve. And the Animal Crossings mini-game, H4H/Spam rant was brilliant and unexpected. Made me laugh out loud (to the point that I chose to spell it out here rather than use LOL ) But what makes this level special is the artistic design. The material sculpting, the fantastic stickering and the amazing colors just made me smile. I also really liked the factory bits - the boxes moving (and being thrown) about. Hectic and precise is a tough thing to pull off, and I think you hit that here. Nice work! Yes, the story lacks a bit and feels a bit disjointed with all the teleports, but in the end, the look and feel, and the humor all make up for it. :star::star::star::star::star: hearted and tagged Pretty | 2009-12-30 23:04:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
I gotta play this level, it looks awesome! | 2009-12-30 23:22:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
Saw this floating around the cool pages today and decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad I did! I really, really enjoyed it! As v0rtex said, it's the art design that really makes the level. From the car at the very beginning, to the factory entrance, to the little details like decorations used to make wiring, everything is fantastic. The color scheme is really nice as well, I actually said "Wow, this looks great." out loud while playing! As for the gameplay, I thought it was just fine for a level like this. There wasn't non stop action, but I felt that I was always on the go. I loved the use of the box for the jumps and unlike mistervista, I never had any issues with them. I'm always hesitant to "teleport" Sackboy by killing him, but I thought it was fine here as it fit the crazy style of the level. It did make it hard to follow what was happening in the story though. Overall, the design was great and I was entertained throughout. And now that I've picked my jaw up off of the floor, I'll give it another go and see if there are any changes or tweaks I'd suggest. As of right now, I thought it was pretty great! Well done! | 2009-12-31 01:57:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
Thank you guys for these comments. I've doubted about myself after the first comments about the boxes and the "teleport" but now i'm reassured XD Thanks! | 2009-12-31 02:08:00 Author: theCooper Posts: 72 |

... cant wait to see how your next level will come along as well! Thanks Voodeedoo! I thought this were my last level but i can't stop building XD So i decided to make another one. | 2010-01-01 12:29:00 Author: theCooper Posts: 72 |
Wow. I had to leave a comment here and give my push for this level to become a "cool level". I wanted to play some nice level before going to bed and fell on this. Wow. I must say that I am impressed at your stickers and decoration work there. I am flabergasted by the amount of time this must take to make. I love how you create "scenes" and the effect of taking a door to somewhere else. It definetely inspires me and I'll probably do similar stuff in the futur with my projects. I have a couple of problems with the level though. It's so busy looking and the visuals are so attracting the eye everywhere that sometimes it's not intuitive to know where to go next. I'm not sure to understand what's generally going on in the level. Those are 2 quite subjective shortcomings mind you. Last thing I noticed I would say is that the gameplay was simple and straighforward. I would have like some more meat in that department. But anyways, the visuals ARE compensating in the case here. At least for the first playthrough. :star::star::star::star: | 2010-01-02 06:32:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

Normally when your levels look amazing they got very little gameplay. But this time they look even better and they still have some fun gameplay :star::star::star::star::star:, heart & beautiful | 2010-01-03 09:37:00 Author: blizzard_cool Posts: 752 |
Im so glad about the 15.000 plays and the spotlight - just wanted to say thank you again. The next level is in process but I dont know if i'll complete it... | 2010-01-20 18:31:00 Author: theCooper Posts: 72 |
Excellent use of layers and an interesting palette made this one of the most visually stunning levels i've played in months. However the best part was that it wasn't just the look that kept me and my friends interested, but the narrative and level design. I loved the use of the boxes and the way the player was transported from one place to another. Overall it was just an enjoyable experience worthy of sharing with many others. | 2010-01-23 07:31:00 Author: fusionboxer Posts: 37 |
As one could already expect by seeing your author name on a level, the visuals really were great. It's an optical masterpiece. Everything just fits in the concept, and you managed to create a unique, never-seen-before art style. The wonky, twisted factory buildings are no novelty ("Scary factory overlooking the small Village" etc), but your choice of colors and decorations really turns it into a unique experience. The story has a lot of humour in it. I've got to confess I didn't quite like the end, it just feels like you could have gotten more excitement out of the storyline. But it's a fine plot, no doubt about it. I won't spoil anything in this thread though. As for the gameplay, it was thoroughly enjoyable. Nice platforming with a few nice breaks. I really liked the box-jumping passages. I think that concept could be used to craft a whole level around it. 5 Stars and one heck of a heart from my side. Keep up your good work! I know how you feel; I don't have time for gaming, I don't have the energy to create a level, and still I just HAVE to launch LBP and work on my creations. Creativity is a serious addiction. | 2010-01-31 14:14:00 Author: Treas Posts: 223 |
Wow, great factory level! It was really funny where the mysterious voice tells you what this place is! The intro looked great! :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3! | 2010-11-27 23:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
