Grabbable size, possibly a glitch?

Archive: 10 posts

Hello there. While working on a project that uses small grab switches, I copied the item to test something. I discovered, suddenly, that the grab switches could no longer be grabbed. I tried resizing and recreating them, with various different materials, but to no avail.
No matter what I do, I cannot grab onto any material unless it is slightly over two small grids (technically four, in a square) in size. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem, and if there is a solution.
Note: Anything I made prior to this works fine.

yeah you can't grab things that are to small gets pretty annoying sometimes but theres not too much you can do about it but make them bigger...2009-12-24 11:54:00

That's the problem, I have plenty of things smaller than that I can grab, it just started making small things ungrabbable now.2009-12-24 12:20:00

It can be thin, but not small. There's not much more to it than that. You can make a super-thin piece, but as long as it's tall enough that sackboy can grab it, it will work.

Perhaps I had a glitch wherein I could grab small objects then, and it has only now stopped working. I really don't know, but I have always been able to make a circle that takes up one small grid square, and still grab it. Until now, of course.
Ah well, no matter. It isn't such a huge matter. Thanks for responding.

Actually, you can make it so you can grab a really small (not tall) thing! All you have to do is make a very small square out of let's say polyesterne, you know big enough to see but small enough to not be grabable, and glue it to a piece of polyesterne in the thin layer behind or in front of it. I believe the piece (and I think all of the parts it is glued to of the same material) you want to grab has to occupy a specific amount of space to be able to be grabbed.

I'm not certain this is the case, but I think I've done it before. Give it a try anyway!

EDIT: The piece of the material in the thin layer must sized up to a certain size so it and the other thick pieced occupy that necessary space.

Thanks for the replies. ^_^
I'm getting an error when I try to connect right now, so I'll have to test this out later.

you're not crazy. this is the first thing I noticed after leerdamer. I used to be able to make REALLY tiny grabbable material then after the upgrade, not so much. probably a side effect of some other tweak they did.

EDIT: just noticed you CAN grab it. just not until you glue it to something.
