Cursed bay = can't complete 100% for some people?

Archive: 23 posts

Yeah looks like I am one of the lucky few or something I guess?
I tried today (2 times) to get that chest with the 4 buttons and there was no way. It never opened.

Can someone enlighten me this? I would like to know wich exact prizes I am missing anyways.

I want to know if it happened for some other people like me?

Actually that chest doesn't open at all. What the x4 buttons do is remove a plank of wood below you. In there is the x4 area, where each person goes in a clam2009-12-24 04:25:00

Ok I understand everything now.

I went there with only 2 players and I got stuck inside the clams and didn't understand how it work.
Then today I went there with 4 players, fully aware of the clams down there. I was sure it was the chest because I never tried the buttons with 4 players and didn't notice the whole was there BECAUSE I pressed the buttons.

So that explains everything. The chest does not open and their AND switch is not effective because it looks like I got it already with 2 players. Interesting.

WOW.

Talk about godawful UI design. Let's put four buttons for a 4-player section that will give you prizes. We will then place a treasure chest next to the buttons, but it's just for show like, no-one is going to actually think treasure goes in a treasture chest, right? Naahhhh, course not. However, the treasure chest does look bloody nice, so lets just add some bright coloured gold material and point the camera directly at the chest and the buttons and just make sure that gold material leads the eye from the buttons to the chest - we don't want people missing our pretty chest now do we?

What do you mean you didn't notice the little bit of innocuous and drably coloured dissolve going in the peripheries of the screen?

There's also to consider a four buttons AND logic that you can activate with only two players - I'll try it in solo later2009-12-24 09:41:00

Seriously. I can't believe this! Such a fail for Media Molecule there...

Hmmmm, could it be slow moving logic? I.E If two people stand on buttons for a bit, then move to the next buttons it's possible that then activation / deactivation timings overlap or something.

Ugh, I can't think today, hopefully you know what I mean.

asd, I got it, don't worry - it's the same thing I was thinking anyway - slow logic and bad positioned switch/sensor

or worse, non-stiff pistons

Yeah I was convinced that chest opened when I played the level with you guys yesterday. Sorry for misleading you.

BTW I played that level earlier on my own and when I got to the wheel part I went in it down the first slope and at the bottom of that it stopped and the water level was still high so it never continued and I was stuck there.

I tried swimming to the finish but it was too far so had to restart the level. Especially annoying as I was going for the aced prize and had done it up to that point. GRRR !!
All in all a bit of an epic fail of a level for Mm.

I still love the pack and the levels overall though. Just a pity they messed up on that one.

No worries, we all thought that's how it worked anyway. BTW, I still had lag after you left

Could it be to complete the race in time? I know if you take too long on the race gate 3 prizes don't come down at the finish2009-12-24 16:16:00

I think I did the 4x solo, 2 controllers hopped at the same time and hit 2 buttons each, then I just got stuck in all 4 clams after which the last clam opened...that's it for the 4x prizes right?

I hate the multi-player sections...I just want the items for create mode and don't want the hassle of finding others to help. I did the main story using up to 3 controllers and a steering wheel...a real pain...I've since stepped on a controller and busted it so I was happy I could do the pirate 4x with just 2 controllers!

I also finished the race with time left...I think I only got 1 sticker at the finish...the squid head guy maybe...there's more? I assumed the stuff I'm missing was elsewhere...

I hate collecting the items as well. Once you pay for it, everything should be yours. You shouldn't be forced to find stuff.2009-12-27 10:08:00

Yes I have to agree with you there. Especially with things like the bubble machine. That should have been in tools automatically, not in a prize bubble that some people might not find. Also everything you've paid for should at least be obtainable in single player. It's a bit galling to pay for something and then not have access to it unless other players help you get it.

Some people do seem to like hunting for the bubbles.... Hoever, I totally agree that there should be at least an option to just check a box and bypass the bubblehunt. Most annoying is that I'm on around 90-95%, not sure where the rest are and I don't even know if they are things that are worth having. The last 10% were all really basic stickers, but there might be some gems in the rest of it so I have to go and bloody find them, don't I?

You have no idea how many times I've tried acing this level before succeeding (I lost count anyway). Every single time something else would mysteriously fail where all other times I passed without problem. Lifting crabs and jump-pad teeth that suddenly squish me, getting stuck near the shark (though I might have accidentally been holding R1 ), and many more.

Cursed indeed!

I like having to hunt for them, you get some more fun out of it. I never would have aced all the levels if there weren't any prizes. I do agree about the multiplayer bits, that annoys me. And they should have put the bubble tool in the tutorial levels.

I just collected these 4x prizes yesterday.
I went to play "quick play" ( I was on my own).
and I joined 3 other people.

and they wanted to play the 4x part of cursed bay!

so we got there.
and we swam down.
and we got all stuck in the first one clam. :/.
but well after we died several times we did got all items.

I love collecting/finding the items, it's what makes the Mm levels more fun than the community levels. I just want to be able to get everything solo. I did also get confused by the missing bubble machine...I did the tutorial and then went right to work on a level...seems like the bubble machine should have come from the tutorial.

Of course I'd be fine with them adding and option to get all prizes, I just wouldn't use it...and the sticklers can point at their trophies to prove they did it the old fashioned way.

I definitely enjoyed the MGS pack more than the Pirate pack...both were great but the Pirate DLC just seemed too easy/short or something (still have to play Kraken level a 2nd time to try to ace it...didn't find that level fun at all).

Woo-hoo! Finally found my last bubble for 100% levels complete, all items found and everything aced. All done with POTC now...no reason to ever play that level pack again.

Just in case anyone else is having trouble finding this one, I found my final bubble on the first level where you spin some wheels to raise the water level. As you grab the second highest wheel, swing and jump over to your left before the water rises and you'll land in an alcove behind a wall. It's a one-shot chance to get this, because once the water has risen it's not possible to swim into the alcove.
