This was a level I did in the Beta soon after water was sent to us. I was mostly playing with terra forming and decorations as well as a nifty way to do underwater explosives since impact bombs float.

mopthefloo helped me out by building a secret room on this one. I went nuts on terra forming as well as decorations and lighting. I also tossed in some pretty darn cool jellyfish.

Not a really long or complicated level, but just something fun to do while swimming around and enjoying the scenery.

That was sooooo Awesome, I loved the way you used the different materials and decorations, it looks very cool. also the lighting in the sea really caught your attention and added to the atmosphere.

Unfortunately I couldn't complete it, I couldn't work out what you were supposed to do with the key, I took it all the way around the level and nothing happened

but it was probably something obvious so
:star::star::star::star::star: + a Heart.

I would suggest that you republish it more because it really deserves to be on the cool pages more than some of the levels that are currently there.

BTW what were the White LEDs for that were floating upwards in the water?

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!

I sorta wished I had added more hazards and stuff to this and might still yet. We didn't know if we would ever be able to pull the Beta levels over so it was I kept the scope a bit smaller than I would have in normal LBP.

Once you have grabbed all the treasure from the chest you should be able to make it to the scoreboard. The key is only needed for the secret area, but it isn't in the cavern section at all.

Where secret area is..
Try swimming from the cavern and follow the ocean floor to the left all the way across the level to find another underwater opening. You should find a lighted section where the key goes.

Thanks again for playing! Appreciate the feedback!

Beautiful. Great attention to detail particularly with the sea urchins, jellyfish, AND you have actual fish that don't float to the top! Great choice of music too. I found this level to be so calming. Enjoyed it very much, however when I reached the secret treasure and key something may have broke perhaps because I couldn?t locate the secret area in which to place the key. Obviously a ?secret? area but I must have swam the entire length of the cave and couldn?t find a way out. Any tips for when I revisit this level again? Aside from that hang-up, 5 stars and hearted. :-)2009-12-24 13:06:00

Thanks so much!! Really happy you enjoyed! ...I am so thrilled I could salvage it from the Beta! I spent so much time in there on this as well as other co-op levels. That is the main reason I am so far behind on my current WIP, Space Escape II !!!

This one sorta started as my virtual fish tank. One you didn't have to clean algae from!

As far as the secret area. Wow.. you had to have been really close. I have a hint for the secret area up above in my prior comment wrapped with spoiler tags.

Thanks again!!

Oh the secret spot is a little tricky to find, (not the secret secret area)

I Made a lil video on it, and also found out you can climb the clouds, so i guess thats a secret secret secret area

WOW!! Thanks for doing that!

..and lol !!! I kinda figured someone could get on the clouds! I kept lowering them because you never saw them in the boat and didn't feel like I wanted a camera on the boat. I might have to add some stuff up there!

Thanks again!!

So, finally got to play this one again tonight. I'd forgotten how much I love your decoration and material usage on this one. Really beautiful and so lush! It's like the whole bottom of the sea is a vibrant grotto full of secrets and potential places to find bubbles. I loved exploring underwater and finding the secret stuff. (total lol when I found it - but then again I had some help ) The lighting in this one is really nice too. The underlit seaweed and barnacles look really nice and the feathers and urchins are whimsical and make it an even more cute experience.

If your looking for a mostly relaxing level to just swim around and explore it's awesome and if you're looking for some underwater explosives training it's nice too. lol

5 stars & hearted! Thanks for bringing it to regular LBP!

Hey, Jww! Long time no see!

I played your level, and I'm glad I did!
As I know that you weren't intending to make this a super uber fantastic level, just testing water and making something fun and enjoyable, I won't go harsh on you. Well, or maybe a little.

I did like the exploration componenent of the level, which is enforced by the fact that there's water, so it feels much more free roaming. Even though, I've got to say that if it wasn't for the indications provided, I wouldn't have found the treasure.

The winners in this level are the visuals. Seriously, I've seen quite some waterish levels, but this is the best one yet to me when it comes to submarine landscapes. Seriously, it looked better than just good, it felt kind of artistic, specially with the way you placed bubbles!

I wasn't capable of finding the secret room, but I didn't care much; my greed was already satisfied with those point bubbles and huge jewels!

All in all it was a fun easy going level that kept me entertained for a while.
I gave it 5 stars ingame to push it up cool pages if possible, but I'd personally rate it for, simply because I would have loved to see more gameplay.

Great level jww I'm definitely adding this to my hearted collection
:star::star::star::star::star: My only gripe was the timing on the jelly fish were a little bit too fast and the rocks to you might think about slowing those down just a tad but I still made it fine with them being as fast just a thought...

Awww Thanks so much Morgana!! A real treat to hear I inspire you when it comes to eye candy.

Thanks Joey! Glad you enjoyed it! The secret place was a bit out of the way, but it was an addition that I let Mopthefloo do. He asked if he could do some sort of secret area and thought... yeah.. sure why not! I then terra formed and decorated all the above so it would all match a bit more to the original theme.

Thanks so much Keldur! Yes, had it been not done in the Beta or had I known at the time we could pull them to regular LBP, I would have done quite a bit more to add to the water platforming and adventure. I have a hint further up in a spoiler tag showing where the secret area is if you are curious.

To be honest when I started it out, I went at it like I was decorating an aquarium as I was fascinated by how the lighting worked underwater in reacting to the elements I was adding. ...then I thought it might be nice to have something to do and added in the explosives and treasure area!! Not really a normal way I go about making a level!!

I really would like to make another someday to have quite a bit more water puzzles etc and still retain all the detail I have managed to create.

Thanks so much!! Yeah.. the jelly fish are a tad fast. I may slow them down once you get in the treasure area as it isn't too terrible swimming in and out, but dragging the key out single player can be a massive kill-fest in getting that key out of their range. One of the reasons I added an extra grabby on the end of the key!

The rocks may be a bit fast as well.. though if you take the high route, it is a bit easier to avoid them.

Thanks everyone for the awesome comments!! It was such a treat to be able to bring this over to regular LBP and to be able to share this mini adventure. I spent so much time in the OC and Water Beta that I am horribly behind on any new levels. So it was a nice Christmas gift to be able to at least show folks that I am still around.

I noticed this level some days ago, and gave it a go to see what were you doing while beta testing
I am a fan of all your levels, so I was going to give it a 5&H before trying it
I loved all the decorations, jelly fishes etc... Puzzles were great (I loved the remote bombs! lol!)
I still don't know how I found the way out because I suck, but the thing is I did!
Another jewel to add to your collection. Well done!

Thanks so much for saying that! As a matter of fact, deep in the underground laboratories, Space Escape II is slowly, possibly too slowly, being created. I was originally hoping to release it in December, but now that I missed that artificial deadline and with water out, I think mid to late January or February might be closer to the truth. ...and like my avatar says... The truth is "out there"... waaaay out there! lol!!

thanks again!

This level definately has some of the most beautiful, and well designed underwater environments I've seen. I really enjoyed the exploration aspect.... although I think this concept could probably be taken further.... such as having a winch on the boat that could be used to pull a rock out of the way of the cavern or sharks swimming through, just to build the excitement.

Excellent level, however - 5 stars and a heart!

Wow!! Thanks CCubbage! Really honored to hear that!

Cool ideas too! I really wanted to do more to it, but since we were in the Beta and I was just playing around, I held off going really nuts. I always felt it needed some more adventure. I have thought about doing another underwater level that has more secrets, underwater tunnels, more water platforming, include more dangers to avoid, and keep those thoughts in mind.

Thanks again!!

I liked the level, it was short but I admired the attention to detail and all the stuff that had to be done. Although the level is great, have you thought about making it longer? I'm sure you've learned more things since you first created the level so I think you should add more.

Thanks so much! Appreciate your comments.

Actually I am hoping to add to it someday.. there is actually over 4.5 bars of thermo left!! A first for me in a level!

I suspect I will start after Space Escape II is complete as well as if I end up working on something soon for the OC contest. That might delay things a bit. I was so happy to reclaim this from the Beta that I just sorta published as is, though I did tweak a few things here and there.

I would like to add some more secret areas as well as other caverns and chambers to have to navigate. Maybe toss in a shipwreck, some more water puzzles, and some interesting dangers. I have quite a few ideas and think it would be really fun revisiting this one.

Thanks again!

Those all sound like great ideas, and don't rush Space Escape II, the first one was great(so much more deserving than it's current 3 Star rating) and I hope the sequel is even better.

..not to worry.. I am pretty methodical anymore when it comes to level creation. It seems the more I learn, the slower I get in attempting to cram even more detail and fun in a level.

Just had a lovely relaxy swim at the bottom of your beautiful, colourful, serene ocean jww and enjoyed every minute of it. Gorgeous visuals and lovely composition.

I did come out of it with my face all charred but that will teach me to get too close to explosives, underwater or not!

Brilliant work jww, thankyou.

Thanks Icey!! That means quite a bit to me knowing how wonderfully beautiful you make your worlds. Nice to have such a compliment from you! I've learned quite a bit from playing your levels and hopefully I am starting to find my own unique style!

...and you set the high score too! Good work!! Ummm... just send the cleaning bill for that minor explosives incident. You'd think it would simply rinse off after all that water!! LOL!!

Thanks again!! ..and to you as well as everyone! You've made me quite happy!!

I played this a few days ago, just got round to leaving comments jww sorry. I thought the level was excellent, I don't think I actually got round to playing this in the beta, so it was a nice surprise to see it in game. Its definetly the best looking underwater cave level I've seen, really good use of materials and decorations, it really sets things off. I'd like to see you expand it, with some of the ideas CCubbage mentioned above, and a few of your own.

The only problem I had was getting the key through the gap made by the explosives, there was a tiny little sliver of cardboard stopping me getting it through, and everytime I tried to blow it up the bombs sailed past so I could'nt get into the secret area. This is more a problem with the game though and not by your design, and plus I watched the video and found out what was in there.

Great level.

Thanks Grant! Glad you enjoyed!

I didn't do a full level since it was a Beta level and did it mostly on my own when water first arrived. Mop visited one day and coohersed me into a secret area which helped give an extra task to it. Mostly just a fun little scenery level with which to play with explosives. I am hoping to take the whole thing and move it up and to the right quite a bit more so I can have more sections to explore as well as more secrets and other water tasks as well as being able to have some extra beginning tasks prior to the boat ride. Though I will probably change quite a bit around so it isn't really a repeat.

Wow... I had not ever had a problem with the bombs before! Usually the last one, there is a narrow passage and so I wedge it up in there and that takes care of the last segment. Probably the best thing to fix would be to possibly make the key a bit smaller and maybe the cardboard a bit shorter in length.

Thanks for playing!

Only spotted this level tonight but what a gem! I really enjoyed the underwater world you created. The atmosphere was fantatsic - lovely use of materials and great attention to detail. I loved the creatures too, especially the small darting fish and the sea urchins. Awesome jellyfish too!

I enjoyed all the exploring and managed to find two secret places although I died a lot trying to reach the second one from the wrong direction! Having spent quite a lot of time getting there it would have been nice to have had some points bubbles as a reward rather than just a companion cube (or did I miss something?). The jet ski ride was pretty cool though, so I didn't really feel cheated, lol!

Lovely level. I'm glad to hear you're thinking of taking it further.

Wow!! You found that other secret? ROFL!! I am amazed anyone did! Actually Mop plopped that there as a joke if a group rushed past the scoreboard. I should put some bubbles there indeed!! Nice one!

Thanks again!
