Attention beta-ites!!

Archive: 51 posts

As most of you already know, Mm have given us no way to import beta levels to the full game. But what if there was a way? Well, lucky reader, your day has just been made, because there IS a way to import levels from the beta! Let me run you through step-by-step.
1. In the full game, make a blank level, and back it up.
2. Then in the beta, back up the level you wish to be in the full game. But instead of making a new slot for it, overwrite the blank level.
3. And whaddaya know, in the import list for the full game is your beta level!

Now come on beta members, LETS GET PUBLISHING!!!

Well, this is how I figured it out: I had backed up a level from the full game, and had gone on the beta to keep working on a certain broken beach. When I had finished working on it I decided to back it up, but there in the import list was the level I'd backed up previously. I wondered what would happen if I overwrote that level with the beta level, and when I did, it was in the import list in the full game. Now bearing in mind this was before the water data patch had been added, the back up did not work. It just said, quite literally, 'Save data is Too new.' When the patch was released, the back up consequently worked.2009-12-23 20:15:00

I just said the same thing to my dad. He didn't understand why bouncing flamigo vehicles made for a merry christmas.

What a great find. Even though I don't have any levels I want to transfer over, I'm pleased everyone else won't lose everything. Can't wait to play some of those great beta levels again...2009-12-23 20:58:00

If so many good levels are being published all at once, then almost every level on cool pages will actually be good, and who knows... once people are exposed to such greatness, putting effort into levels may become the new trend and we'll never see crappy levels on there again!

After all, 1 or 2 good levels on cool pages won't change anything, but 20-30 good levels might.

Will everyone be nice and post the levels in the level showcase for little old Fancy Pants to see? Now remember, Fancy Pants is tight with Santa, and knows that he has some left over coal for the naughty ones...

I wasn't really going to do this, but I did.

Canyon Cooperation and The Swamp are now published.
No entirely awesome, but decent compared to the recent water levels.
I'll get round to advertising them when I get some images

Guys, Flamingo Racing is online. Our 2x challenge will be up at some point, but I have a lot of fixing to do. The Flamingo level is not serious, it's just meant for you to have fun. I hope you guys enjoy it! ^_^ It was made by me, Ccubbage, Morgana25 and my husband.2009-12-23 21:48:00

This is by far the best LBP-related news EVER. When I got Mms email telling me that I could test online create, it was a great moment, but knowing that there is a way of KEEPING our beta-creations must be the best thing that could have happened. Just downloading the new BETA patches. I hope the beta servers are up...

Oh, and I can finally continue working at the "Current Cave Complex", if anyone remembers my cave-themed water-puzzler from back in the beta greeeat!

As of 10 minutes ago, they still are.

I had to get mine back off the server and all was well.

Really great to be able to play your beta levels!

I've just played the two Wex and friends levels : great work, especially the submarine level!

The flamingos race is hilarious!
But how come there no water in it, if it has been done in the water beta...?

Some levels were done in the OC beta prior to the water beta, this being one of them.

Would not call it big news

I, on the other hand, would call it the best news I've heard in weeks. It has ensured the well-being of countless hundreds of hours of work the beta community put into their levels, and not only that but it single-handedly increased the quality of available water levels by approximately 10^23 times.

As I said before: It's a Christmas miracle!

So basically we "flood" the cool pages right? It's set right? I have a level with water to publish on the 26th.

You guys are making your F4F threads right? We should so this with all our usual care or we shouldn't do it at all me thinks.

^well, the thing about Twin Towers, is it's brutal, but addictive. We spent about as much time making it as we did trying to playtest it and finally beat it successfully. It's a 2x level, and I predict that most players will die thousands of times before even getting up a few inches, but a team of players like you and deboerdave could dominate it with practice.

Though, Gruntos... it's up to you, but I think maybe the points possible should be toned down in the final area, so that it doesn't outweigh the value of going up a notch quite so much as it used to. Or not, whatever. grr, I wish I was there.
