Favorite Video Game Music?

I know this has been done before, but I didn't want to bump an ancient thread to discuss it.

My favorite video game music is this:

This song, IMO, is the most haunting song I have ever listened to in any game. It emphasizes hopelessness, sadness, and death. Every time I hear it's dreary and mystical chords, my spine becomes cold and numb. Perhaps nostalgia for the game has imprinted the song into my mind, which may account for some bias... but it truly is one of the best game tracks of all time.

Some of you will probably listen to this song and think nothing of it, but it's the devastating situation within the game that allows this song to pull at my heartstrings.

Recent sonic games, while being rather terrible games in my own little personal opinion, I find the music to be a extremely guilty pleasure.

Right now however, I'm listening to the Beyond good and evil ost. It's very good. Then again the whole game is good.

I fell in love with the MGS series. I first played the 4th(yea I know I shouldn't have). I bought the first three games in a pack on Ebay and played them all. It was the best gaming experience I've never saw!

PURE AWESOME. These people do it better then the game does, but the game's music is simply AMAZING. I even have it on my faves playlist

I absolutely love Chris Huelsback old stuff from the 8/16 bit era, stuff like Turrican, for example...

I'm particularly excited with Bayonetta soundtrack as a whole, since it's very varied and has some real works of art like the pieces written by Rei Kondoh.

the zelda music makes me happy more out of nostalgia

I also like the theme from FFX (also, listen to the jecht boss music... I almost laughed when it came on... it didn't match the rest of the game at all!!)

I don't know if this is my favorite video game music, but back in college (3 - 5 years ago) I would listen to the FFVII sound track while writing papers

I've always loved the Metal Gear Solid (PS1) sound track.

As far as newer games go I'd pick Heavenly Sword, Uncharted 1 & 2, MGS4 - I love sound tracks that use interesting percussion instruments

I want to second Rangerzero's Donkey Kong Country.

I don't remember the 3rd much, but the first two games had wonderful, wonderful music. It's the stuff of nostalgia to me now. A couple of my favorites - the underwater music from the first game; and the music in the haunted forest levels of the second game.

I love the MGS4 soundtrack absolutely brilliant.

I also love the final fantasy VII and X sountracks.

On a different note the monster hunter soundtrack is absolutely brilliant.

I remember the christmas I got the first DKC...opened it up and went "ehhhh". Turned out to be one of the best games I ever played. I didn't get the third when that came out but I played the first and second a lot. Playing through all three on my psp now.

Mega Man 10 just came out on WiiWare.

I mean, just wow. This track continues to amaze me. WOW. So different from the usual Mega Man stuff. One of the best themes in the game.

This song is what Mega Man is all about. Holy ****. My favorite part starts at :29. This beats every other Wily theme ever! Talk about getting you pumped up for the rest of Wily's castle!

This one is a personal favorite of mine. The theme fits the stage very well. But the part that starts at :38 is where the song really takes off. Very epic.

There are so many good tracks in MM10. I totally didn't expect Capcom to top MM9's soundtrack, but they did!

I would have to say the music in MGS4. Not because of the music itself, it is still really good but mainly because of the way it's used throughout the game.
F-Zero X (on N64) had some pretty cool music, look it up, it's just like an endless guitar solo, for every song!

Yeah but rare doesnt work for Nintendo anymore, thats why they holded the DKC series, i mean the last that came i think it was called Jungle Beat, wasnt really that good as the others, cause it wasnt made by Rare. But anyway...

I think Scott Pilgrim vs. the World has the chance to be one of the best video game soundtracks of all time.
