Where be your boat matey?

Archive: 36 posts

Today, water came out and I have been thrilled by making and looking at boats. And then I thought about Ard's thread where you show off your sackboy, so I thought why not do the same with boats!

So here is what you need to do, post your boat, post its name, and post its engine type (rocket, propeller, etc.). Simple as a mouse wanting cheese .

I'll post my boat, S.S. Jack***, since my sister is currently on the PS3.

cool thread! I will upload a pic soon, but I have this cool, streamlined, super simple little miniboat which is just the right size for sackboy... I originally built it for my currantly unpublished fully featured FLUME ride! but it actually works well as a stand alone boat... Seeing as it is just a prototype I'll probably clean it up with the corner editor a bit more before I take a pic! ...

EDIT!: here is the picture!

I'll post my first one, but it's not very good. It uses a propeller but I added a rocket for when I want to go faster. It also has a paintinator on it 2009-12-23 10:07:00

It's actually awesome - If you balance it just right it aquaplanes and goes about twice as fast, but if you pull back too much it'll flip. But you can land the flips and keep on going. Plus it's bi-directional.

Best boat Everrrrr.

What is the best material to use for boats. I use cardboard but it rocks alot depending on where you stand.2009-12-24 19:06:00

It's good to make it out of cardboard, but make the base of it out of wood.

I'd use sponge, then do the fancy design work with metal.2009-12-25 23:37:00

I took one of the boat stickers (don't remember what it's called, but it's the cartoony really crazy awesome looking boat with the curvy little thing at the back) and placed it on a piece of cardboard.

I then cut out each individual piece (the hull/body, each sail, and the lookout), then attached them all together thinking "This boat looks really cool in the sticker, but would it be able to work as an actual boat?". I slapped it all together and it's possible the most stable boat I've ever been it. :3 Oh Mm and your accurate sticker making. I'll attempt to post a picture when I figure out how. lol

I made mine out of wood and cardboard. A lot of the ship is made of wood, and it was tough to get it floating just right. I used cardboard for that. Once I started adding balloons, however, weight didn't matter anymore. Basically now that my ship has flying capabilities I can make it very heavy and it'll still float and fly. (It's a flying ship now - Raven's Voyage (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=20341))2009-12-26 09:11:00

I think it's more

Cardboard
Cardboard
Wood
Cardboard
Wood

Then the wood will add enough weight to sink most of the hull but keep the boat afloat.

Anyone know how to balence out a submarine so that it stays submerged but can still move left and right without rocketing to the top? 2009-12-26 16:26:00

Lots of tweaking. I made the sub I posted earlier with all metal, some blue wood, and polyester. The whole exterior was metal, it had polyester parts inside, and a wooden tower on top.

Took the advice from people and made this, my luxury liner =] =]

http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/2976/aphoto.jpg (http://img63.imageshack.us/i/aphoto.jpg/)

It looks like the front rail isn't fully stickered but it really is, it does that sometimes occasionally for some reason :S

Nice, if a bit plain. Use more materials. If you used cardboard, use the Embossed Cardboard. And sponge is good for texturing.

Hi Grimdour. I've posted the screenshots, so do you want to check out the Black Wing Voyager (Raven's Voyage) now? Click here if you want to see it (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=20414).

Woah, those are cool. I was thinking about a sackmobilesomething, it can drive on land, fly in the air and... be a boat. Maybe even a submarine but I think that will be a bit hard.2009-12-27 18:53:00

Have you looked at Black Wing Voyager (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=20414)? That's almost exactly what it does. Why does nobody bother to check it out? I want to release it as a prize bubble, but first I need to have proof that it's ours.

I made a boat out of metal with the bottom made of cardboard filled with orange floaty, then put 2 balloons attached to either side by rods(theyre invisible and the balloons are out of view) to make it float2010-01-01 19:23:00

Heres my boat, its not exactly state of tbe art, but i think its kind of cute

Its a mini pirate ship !

http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/theamilien_photo/APhoto_8-1.jpg

Complete with working cannon, moving steering wheel, blowing sails and its own stash of bullion.

Also i mades a submarine

http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/theamilien_photo/APhoto_12.jpg

http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/theamilien_photo/APhoto_10.jpg

It has a submersion toggle that switches between underwater and surface, it can move left, right, up, down ( only up and down when submersion 'mode' is on). It also has an opening hatch and some scuba gear.
