O-o It could be the sequel that explains all that stuff they made up in sequels >_> It'd be cool I guess if this is true. though personally I'd like to prefer the sequels don't exist... Crisis Core is cool because it's a prequel that tells the backstory of an important character who wasn't mentioned at all... But yeah, the sequels ruined the impression at the end of FF7 that the world wiped off all humans because humans almost destroyed the world which would have made it one of the best endings of all time. So I hope not a sequel... but not really a remake either unless they fix all the story loopholes from the first one. Hm... but yeah, it'd be cool... I guess :kz: If this is true, which i'm kinda doubting for now...

Well, when Nanaki is overlooking the ruins of Midgar, I think it's heavily implied that humans aren't around anymore, none of the sequels/prequels have altered this scene IIRC. So I think it's still a safe bet that they don't make it past 498 years, though they could possibly have wiped themselves out before then. I just personally like that the World itself killed them off (remember when Red XIII or Nanaki's grandpa said, that the world would choose what is good for it and what is bad for it when Holy is used). So basically saying taht humanity as a whole is bad for it. So while they may have wiped themselves off... I like to think that the planet killed them off instead

I think the bottom line was : Square decided to call her Aerith from now on, and everyone else can use whichever they want.

Ha, amen to that. Back when Dissidia was released, most of the Dissidia board consisted of debates on whether they pronounced the names correctly. I.E. Tidus : "Teedus" vs "Teyedus" Ultimecia : "Ultimeesha" vs "Ultimeseeya" Cecil : "Seesul" vs "Sehsul" etc It was... a waste of time.

I thought this was another thread about that old crazy rumor (that was expected to happen after the PS3 demo back then) but since I like FF7 I od course wish this rumor would become truth someday. I am not disappointed by this thread, it's not bullcrap but truly brings something on the table. I can't wait for next E3 ... .

Why does everyone care about FF7 so much? The only significance it has is that it's the first "3D" FF *dons flame suit* Anyway, I also agree that there have been a ton of FF7 spinoff games as well. But who knows. Game companies typically like to release new games instead of "Gold/Platinum" versions of old ones. I'd still buy it though.

The thing with a FF7 remake is that, seeing as how FF13 doesn't have towns or a world map... unless they get rid of that stuff, this may very well be "bigger" then the actual game unless they completely change the path of the game O-o. So it may just be the sequel wrapping up all that useless stuff they've added (like Nero and that other guy, and Genesis- you know, people no one cares about :/).

Why does everyone care about FF7 so much? The only significance it has is that it's the first "3D" FF I thought the significance was that it was the series and possibly the whole JRPG genres big break into the mainstream in the west.

I can't help but wonder why anyone would want this... If you love the original so much then why not just play that? What exactly would you want changed from the original? Graphical update doesn't seem like it's worth a remake (at least as far as I'm concerned) and changing anything else seems unnecessary and would risk angering fans rather than endearing them. I'd be more likely to play the original than a remake. And I'd be more likely to play through FFVIII than FFVII...

I want more than a graphical overhaul. I want gameplay changes and TONS of additions and bosses and easter eggs. As long as it all ties in with the story. I want redone orchestral music. BRING IT! There's about two gazillion fans who want this. It's just a matter of time.

I would not like changes (and would also prefer a FF6 remake but that's another story). I like remakes of the games I loved but the gameplay needs to stay intact unless they fix stuff that was really bad. I want to replay the same game but with today's audio/visual standards. .
