Thermo problems.

Hello people. I'm sure i'm not the only person who has had such a problem. It's about my level. I'm still creating the first third of it but already the thermo meter is above 3 quarters full. I have screenshots showing what's in the level so far. Could people explain to me ways I can lower that thermo.

There are a load of speech mouths here wired to a sensor trigger. You'll also notice a load of decorations that are purely for show. On the far right (off screen) is a key trigger (for a key in the first picture) wired to an emitter.

Here there are a load of emitters constantly putting out score bubbles behind a screen of glass.

A paintinator, some score bubble crates, a sensor trigger hooked up to a music item, a mouth and an emitter that spawns rockets. There's also a door that is meant to be shot out.

Since I put an enemy spewing plasma balls towards the trench from the far right of the picture. Also that patch of white ground just in front of the trench is now on fire.

So, what takes up the most level space, what should I remove?

hmm using lots of different materials take a lot of space

different hazards, objects as well as power ups and switches take a bit as well

the amount of a material you use doesn't really effect anything its just the variety

so the more variety or stuff you have the more thermo you use

The link i just posted is the Comphrehensive Thermo Overview and Guide. Created by various LBPC Members, with most notable contributions by Comphermc, this covers a lot of information about the thermometer (or rather thermometers).

My guess is its the emitters taht are messing with your level based on those descriptions, but it could be a lot of things, this link should help.

Tweak the emitters, that sounds like the problem if there are lot of them. Activate them via a prox switch if you hav'nt already, they only need to be activated when the player is near them. And set the max emitted to the amount you require. The thermo will calculate everything you emit even if its not actually emitted yet, which can make it skyrocket if they're not set right. I've had this in a couple of levels and actually made it drop quite drastically by a few simple tweaks.2009-12-22 16:04:00

Yeah, emitters are thermo killers when you have them emitting lots of stuff.
