New MAJOR bug with hearted lists!

Archive: 52 posts

Before, when I was browsing someone else's hearted levels, I could see a heart only on the levels that I personally hearted.

Now, even if it's a level you never hearted, it will appear with a heart on it. All levels in another person's hearted list now have a hard. This is really not cool because if you're a hearted list browser / level hunter like me, you want to spot wich level you didn't heart yet. Now I have to carefully look for that prize icon or ace icon. This also means, if you find a level you want to heart, don't forget to do it right away because later you might think you already hearted it!!

Now the bad stuff... If you unheart one of those level that you never hearted before, it might freeze your PS3. It's not 100% but it happens for multiple people.

Um... ok - so I was on SLS10's hearted page and wanted to heart a level I played from his list I hadn't hearted before. So I go to the badge and my only option is remove from hearted. So I click it thinking well, maybe I need to do that for it to show up on my hearted list..... instant lockup.

The bugs are back in town - oh yes they are!

Sorry I'm not sure I understand (I'm still improving my english :blush

"Instant lockup" ? you mean the hearting function is locked, or the level itself gets locked, so you can't play it...?

I haven't emailed MM. Feel free to.

What I mean is when I tried to unheart the level on my friends list it froze my game completely. I had to shut down using the button on the PS3 front.

EDIT: on a positive front check your magic mouth options for sounds - methinks thar be a pirate & parrot option available now - yarg!

I think instant lockup means her PS3 froze. This really sucks, I have a bug where it doesn't even show if I complete or play a level so now how will I know which levels I haven't played...

.

I'd rather not get into the specifics of it, but the heart system can be abused. And I'm not keeping this a secret because I'm greedy or anything but simply because I wish nobody ever found this glitch, hell I wish I didn't know about it.

Anyways, after browsing through a few of my friend's Hearted pages it seems as though it has affected mine because I went onto the Cool Pages and it says I hearted levels I never have before. Now I have 15 pages of Hearted levels! Wow, MM really messed up on this one, just imagine, by tomorrow everyone is going to be confused as hell, lol.

The stuff in the COOL LEVEL PAGES appears as hearted for you?

Holyshi....

And just imagine if they truly register in our hearted list and actually bump out all our LEGITIMATELY hearted ones...

I think I would quit playing this game. No jokes.

I am aware of this bug as well. sadly, its keeping my enthusiasm for hearting at bay... its risky, but i can unheart and reheart these levels, and they will appear as normal under my hearted list (but its extremely frustrating). not sure, but at least this is what is happening with my profile.2010-01-01 04:57:00

Wow... until I was playing this morning I had no idea how bad this issue really is. I couldn't figure out WHAT I had hearted or not hearted... I had levels hearted that I think were hearted by someone else and were appearing as hearted after browsing their hearted lists (if that makes ANY sense whatsoever).2010-01-01 12:41:00

I never got the 'Heart 3 Creators' trophy (called Networking, which was bronze), but when I went to look at LittleXim's hearted list, the game automatically gave me the trophy, even though I haven't hearted anyone. Could this bug be related to this?2010-01-01 12:58:00

It's a mess, isn't it? The most worrying thing, though, is that I'm never sure whether, if I unheart a level I have gone into from someone's hearted list and then re-heart it, that registers as an additional heart. When I did this with mrvista's most recent level I'm pretty sure the total of hearts recorded for the level didn't change. Hopefully it added my heart later but it's all very confusing...

Lucky!!! Just kidding.

But seriously, this is killing me right now. I have a bunch of terrible levels I've never played with hearts on them and I'm afraid to delete them.

This is really a mess and there's no answer whatsoever from Media Molecule.

It really is a huge bug. It renders hearting COMPLETELY useless and hunting levels for my list is half my fun in the game. This is really terrible.

Ok, i found out don't worry about it, it doesen't actually add to the levels heart count! But it still needs to be fixed people have been accusing people of hacking there profile and hearting there own levels when it's just this bug!

EDIT: ok just emailed MM with a link to this thread so they might even reply here!

You're supposed to see your hearts, the problem is not there. Go into someone else hearted list and all the hearted levels of that person will appear as hearted by you even if you didn't heart them.

You know how you can push R2 and L2 to view hearts and play stats above levels? Well if you switch it to view the level title, it will show the level title, and a little heart icon of whether you hearted it or not. So when you view your friends list, you can see some levels you hearted, and not levels they hearted.
The problem about this is that this seems to have a bug too, when you go to your hearted list, only some of the levels will have a heart icon in the title.

They really have some server problems because most of time my hearted level list is missing pages. Sometimes the creator pages don't appear. Sometimes they miss pages too. I even got a creator page right in the middle of my hearted list pages. Sometimes a page is there but empty. You change for the next one and everthing is there..

It's anything right now. I truly hope Media Molecule are about to fix this. It's ridiculous and ******* me off actually.

I wouldn't go into too much of a panic over this bug - it doesn't seem to be doing any permanent damage of any sort (at least by current appearances) so it should be completely fixed whenever they get around to implementing a fix, and currently it seems easily avoidable simply by keeping it in mind.

It seems to be more of a temporary nuisance if anything. Admittedly, quite a nuisance, but nothing to have your head explode over, really.

... ok, now, with that being said; yes, this is definitely quite annoying, and not something to just ignore either. I truly hope this is worked out promptly.

So, when did this show up again? Probably around the release of Leerdammer, because they said they completely rewrote the network code. Maybe that also means the Hearted system got [Data Expunged] too? I hope they fix this, because if I ever see a you-know-what level in my Hearted List...

(Note: "[Data Expunged]" is a thing from the SCP Foundation. It's much funnier for censoring than a bunch of asterisks.)

yea noticed this a while ago its not that bad (unless 1 of your friends s a 5 year old that hearts h4h or bomb survivals) now we no that unhearting them causes problums so dont un heart. all my friends heart good levels so i dont mind its not like the end of lbp.2010-01-14 17:07:00

I'm wondering if this is affecting how levels are being hearted in general though. Think about it. So you sign on LBPC and find a level in the showcase to play and rather than look it up you go to someone who said they hearted it to find it faster (we all do this sometimes) and after you play, hm... wow it's already hearted, guess I don't have to heart it. So the player thinks they've hearted it (if they don't read this thread or aren't aware of the problem) and doesn't actually heart it. If they look it up from scratch this isn't an issue but I think it's probably happening out there on the LBP servers.

Really hoping MM gets this worked out. It's not a HUGE problem in terms of glitches in the game but it's extremely annoying and is starting to wear on my sense of fair play.

I am sure this happens alot.
But the worse isn't even that. It's the simple fact that Media Molecule doesn't demonstrate in any way that they care. And we are speaking of a pretty major glitch here. It's also repulsing me from the game, you're not alone.

If only MM would tell us like 4 words (anybody with any schedule can do that) saying like "we are aware, thank you. We'll look at fixing this" and I'd be perfectly happy + zero whinning. But no, they don't answer their Emails, their community people don't answer their PMs, etc. Is it a state secret level of a problem to have some extremely basic contacts with your community? After all we freaking feed their family, it would be nice to be something else than objects.

I know but it's sort a middle range bug that is too often overlooked by publishers and devs around the world. It should be a priority at least over doing some new costumes. Those bugs kill the enjoyment of many players (to some extent) and when you get a certain numbers of those type of bugs, the reputation of the game becomes "it's buggy" and then the word of mouth truly affect the game. This is less important in the usual game you see on shelve because it's not community based. However, MMOs and strongly community based games like LBP need those type of bugs to be fixed because Media Molecule doesn't want people to go play the next game. The money they make is on the legs the game is having and this is directly related to the enjoyment of long staying customers. If the bugs pile up, the enjoyment slowly decrease and so is decreasing the number of people playing. Then those people that don't play anymore won't actually buy that new costume they priorised to make therefore they will actually lose money.
See where I am coming? If you want to make more money with community driven games, it's about not letting the experience worsen with time. Those middle range bugs are super important to fix in order to favorise the best legs possible for your game because you need those people to buy your next DLC wich is your main source of income.
