Apollo 13.5: Sacks In Space by tsr13 (PSP)

Archive: 46 posts

Blast off for a triumphant return mission to My Moon.

This is my second LBP PSP level and the second installment in my "Space Corps" series. This level begins immediately following the events of The Right Stuffing (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=19533) and takes you on another series of wacky space-related adventures. It is a stand-alone story, but it will probably make more sense if you have played The Right Stuffing first. I stuck with the formula of cartoony visuals and goofy humor, but this level has a bit more platforming and fewer mini-games.

This level is essentially all the ideas and concepts I was not able to fit in The Right Stuffing, and I am really happy to have been able to use them all. I was bummed that I had to cut so much from my first level, but now I finally have some closure. Apollo 13.5 took me about 10 days to complete, with most of the create time spent on a cruise ship in the Bahamas. (Thus the beach-inspired level intro.)

Thanks for playing, and I hope you enjoy my level.

Edit: Added a video link and screenshots - thanks JKthree!

Better than the last one. I loved this level. BOOM!

I find the humor a great touch in this level. I also liked the ending. Next one please?

Also, this level was an "EPIC FAIL"!

I played it again (to fun to play just one)! Loved the cannon part. Great Sack impersonator! I feel I should make a sort of review for this. So ta-ta-ta-ta!

Review
Once again, trs13, A.K.A Taffey, has combined illusions with puzzles and a bit of humor. The plot is well written for a short level, and the visuals are the best for a level made in LBP PSP's not so great create mode. Taffey has spaced out (no pun intended) points around the area very well, and it gives the player a sort of challenge. Finally, the humor Laughy Taffey has brought us is original and cute. I hope to see more from this creative mind.

Awesome level! I really appreciate the humor you put into it, I loved the line that went something like "Blaze yes, glory no" XD. Can't wait for the third installment. I don't really have any complaints, it was brilliant all around! 2009-12-21 21:43:00

Hey Laughy Taffey (what an appropriate nickname!),

I thought it would be difficult to top your first level, but you did so victoriously with this one! The humor wasn't recycled as I initially feared, but fresh like the first footprint on the moon...

Likewise, the platforming was also fresh and complimented the scenes really well. But overall, I felt the cinematics were the stars of the show. I loved all the special effects and the great lengths you took to animate a story: I didn't know dented and scratched objects can be so charming...

I also didn't find any obvious flaws, but if any did exist, players will simply be to engrossed in the level to pay any attention to them.

Another blockbuster!
:star::star::star::star::star: Level Heart, and I've hearted you already, so no soup for you too!

You have achieved: EPIC WIN!

Brilliant!

This level is even funnier than the previous one. The test launch scenes were epic, as was the final launch.

Will there be a third in the series? I certainly hope so.

You did it again: a perfect level, with perfect gameplay and perfect visuals. I enjoyed the puzzles, the little secrets, the use of stickers, the special effects, the humour... everything.

I would like to praise the EPIC part. Levels with flying materials tend to be tricky, unintuitive or even frustrating, it's hard to reach where you want to go. But in your level, I really enjoyed that section: everything was smooth and flawless. I had no problems getting the bubbles or travelling through air. I guess you tested it a lot to make it intuitive and fun.

Also, I agree with Gilgamesh, this level was even funnier than the first one. I laughed with many parts of it, like the failed launches.

Needless to say: 5 stars, and hearted.

Thanks for the plays and feedback. I'm thrilled once again at the positive response. Most of all, I think it's great that everyone seems to share my taste in humor/humour. You're all just as weird as I am! Yay!!

Will there be a third in the series? I certainly hope so. Perhaps. I'd love to do a third installment but I need to brew up some more ideas. I'll keep you posted.

I changed my mind at least a dozen times, and even as I was publishing the level I decided it was too floaty. Good to know it isn't overly annoying or difficult.

Finally got to play it somewhere in western Pennsylvania Really funny level. Fits perfectly with your previous one and I love your sense of humor. Great stickering and I liked how you did the rocket tests. lol

Only thing I can complain a tiny bit about is the lifeguard chair part. Hard to get the bubbles and a little tricky navigating the layers but it's a minor nitpick on my part.

I'm so glad you made a sequel to the first and your rapidly becoming the funniest creator on lbp psp I know. Here's hoping you go for #3! 5 stars & hearted. Thanks again for a fun and funny experience and I don't think it will be leaving my psp for a long time

Another awesome level, and really fun, I just bursted out with laughter when I saw the old cannon. The EPIC FAIL was ingenious, too.

:star::star::star::star::star: and a heart!

ps. Hope you make a sequel, where sackboy lives on. I feel so sorry for him, up there on the mymoon...

Don't worry... Sackboy is supposed live on My Moon.

Of course the sequel can be about the return trip or an alien invasion.

I must admit when I saw the second launch scene I was like, YES! another epic launch!" then all of a sudden, *patchwork cannon appears* oh gods yes! XD I couldn't stop laughing so hard... I really loved this level once again!. Now that a few things are fixed with the creator, I'm sure we'll be seeing more epicness! once again taff... you made me laugh so incredibly hard...

Taffey, continue to make these epic levels and I'll continue to give you 5 stars hearted... thanks brother!

Taffey, I tried your level yesterday and loved it. It is as your previous level "The Right Stuffing" is something amazing. Good design, interesting game play, well balanced difficulty and cool humour - thank you for this piece of fun! Five stars and heart with heart of creator.

I look forward for you new levels!

Simply superb again Taffey!

You've been a great member on LBPC and you're showing us how it's done in the creating department as well. As good as the gameplay is, it's the humour I enjoyed the most playing this level - I actually lol'ed at the failing of the spaceship test.#

:star::star::star::star::star: + a heart
Of course I already gave you a creator heart...

Eagerly awaiting your next outing, especially if it's anything like your last two,

Eagerly awaiting your next outing, especially if it's anything like your last two,
CoxyI have finally started brewing up ideas for my next level... actually two levels. One will be part 3 in this series, the other is a totally new concept but still done in the same style. I just have to decide which I want to do first.

;360179']Can't wait for #3! Good Building? or how about just Good Luck! The bad news is, I'm not working on part 3... yet. The good news is that I have a lot of ideas for it now, and I have the theme/story nailed down. I decided to work on my side project first while I come up with more spacey-type content.

I'll take "good luck". Messing with PSP create mode is a little like gambling afterall.

I think it's the default background color of the level and isn't generally intended to be seen. I believe that's also what you see if/when you get the disappearing background glitch due to a maxed out thermo.2010-01-01 02:52:00
