A stary night background (no not by van gogh)

It is not easy to make a stary night back ground, although it can be done very well, is tedious, a thermo hog at large scale, and takes up the last plane, it would be very nice to have a starry night theme background. | 2009-12-20 19:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Just making a level with exactly this, so would save me a bit of work | 2009-12-20 21:09:00 Author: Dhawken Posts: 96 |
With twinkly animated effects? Would be nice to have animated backgrounds. | 2009-12-21 00:50:00 Author: adlingtont Posts: 321 |
I think simpler backgrounds that looked like the sky would be more useful. The current backgrounds tend to be out of place and situational when making a level. I would much rather have animated cloud/star backgrounds. | 2009-12-21 04:44:00 Author: RottenAvocado Posts: 319 |

I would much rather have animated cloud/star backgrounds. A simple cloudy sky background would be great...in conjuction with the global lighting switch it would be very general purpose! It would also be cool to be able to turn off the ambient sounds...sometimes a background would work ok but the sounds just don't fit the level. And while I'm wishing, an option to turn off the insect sound of gas and the emitter dissolve noise would be super! As for a starry sky, I just got done creating one for a section of the level I'm working on. I think I got a pretty good result using the global lighting switch and adding twinkly stars and moons attached to dark matter instead of using the back thin plane, you might want to give that a try. Don't remember what my lighting settings were exactly...but I cranked up the fog, so the background is sort of a grainy dark-bluish/green color...I prefer it over using the back-plane since it appears to have some depth to it. And using the global lighting switch means I don't have to have a starry sky in the rest of my level... | 2009-12-22 00:25:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
hmph well i cant rememer the lvl i think it was when you were on the bridge and.....er.....u start off in a waterfall? ugh well it had a moving background with a couple of hot air balloons moving it was mind boggling, i had no idea how ut it did involve the 3D layer glitch. | 2009-12-22 00:26:00 Author: lbptrophyluver Posts: 103 |
