Lights that make things visible/change appearance

Archive: 3 posts

I was thinking it would be cool to be able to have an object that changes its appearance under certain conditions, such as having lights shine on it, or the activation of a switch. An object will be plain ordinary to start, but when a switch activates, it can be covered in stickers or decorations, or even change the material it is made from. Or maybe it can be invisible until a light hits it, and then its clear as day. It woul obviously work in reverse too, with the "inverted " setting.
maybe it could unleathalize objects too.

I think its reasonable to say it could be done, but only the appearance of the object would change, not the shape.

I suggested a light because I liked the idea of only a small bit of the objecrs appearance being alteres, invisible, or unleathalized. A switch would probably change it all at once.

Then MediaMolecule would have to mask the lights, instead of just making it a light source, making lights, which are already Thermo Heavy, even more thermo heavy.

So yes, it's do-able, but TH. Of course, there could be a special Masked-Light, just like we have the Layer Sensor Light (MGS Pack).

I don't really see how this is useable, except for the de-lethalization, as you can just use 'perfect' darkness, leaving it invisible, therefor not giving any reason for the light switch.

I think perhaps you should mess around with the illuminated/non-illuminated screen material, stickers, and any old lighting source attached to the switch of your choice... the effect is doable now.

Also designing any level with 2 completely different lighting schemes could achieve the same effect... lighting is powerful stuff and can mask/reveal stickers. No need for any new object!
