The Sackies - Outstanding Achievement

Archive: 13 posts

The Sackies ? Celebrating the highest level of achievement amongst Players, Creators and Sharers on LittleBigPlanet.

This is an award for outstanding achievement. It can be awarded to anything in any area related to LittleBigPlanet ? Play, Create, or Share, allowing us to look over the LittleBigPlanet community as a whole, and see what really stands out in our minds as an achievement worthy of celebrating.

And the winner is?

Little Big Contra by Jaeyden, Leonidas2123, SaitoHalifax, NinjaMicWZ, El_Beefo, Gevurah22, and TeknomanEX.

This was an immense project, to recreate, in its entirety, the original Contra. It really showed what could be achieved with LittleBigPlanet if you put your mind to it, and we believe it to be an outstanding achievement!

Check back tomorrow for another Sackie award.

[...]LBPC DO IT AGAIN!

Although there are a few prominent LBPC members on the project, wasn't the project originally organized on NeoGAF?
That was my understanding of it anyway.

Fair point. I've updated it to something more appropriate.

Isn't this whole thing related to the 'Best level Nominations' thread about a month ago, where it was only really LBPC doing the nominating? Or did they already announce what that was all about? Been out of the loop for a few weeks..

Congratulations to all anyway!

Cool. Since we're raking up a bunch of nominations and prizes on this thing, we wouldn't want people to get the impression that we're big headed, lol!

@Kiminski: It's definitely related, but I don't know whether we should expect a "Best Level" category, or whether they changed their minds and made all of these categories instead.

I believe so, but I don't think all the winners/nominees thus far have come from that nomination thread. I suspect they reached out to other groups or fan sites for nominations in other categories as well as what they had nominated on their own.

It will be interesting to see what the rest of the categories are.

Congrats, Ninja, Jaeyden, and Gevurah, and everyone else, too. While I'd love to see you guys win something for your original works, this is undeniably an epic project, and your sackie is well deserved.2009-12-18 19:32:00

As huge a media storm as it was when it came out, I'm just amazed it was even remembered... I love some of the things I did with the level, but ironically, for my own tastes, it's one of my least favorite of my own works, and if I'd known then, the things I know now, hadn't had to finish it in a week, or had access to something like the bakscratch glitch I'd have been able to do something so much more epic... a recreation, that's spot on, but original, tuned to LBP, and more... me.

I don't think saito and el beefo play LBP much anymore, and Leonidas went back to X Box lol... but if I ever get back, one thing I think I'd like to do is go into cocreate with gevurah and jaeyden and do this again one more time with much more experienced hands and 3 like-minded people to give it a super-cohesive bond and much more playability. An ultimate, commemorative edition of sorts.

Thanks to MM and everyone who made the project a success.

RAWR! Projects like this makes me wish I had way more time to spend with LBP altogether. Granted it was a NeoGAF thing primarily, we all enjoyed the collaboration together. I'm sure we can come up with something crazy again in the future assuming we can get it together again. =)2009-12-20 19:41:00

Funny thing is, before this award was announced I had gone in the other day and played throught them all again. STILL fantastic stuff. Anyone who hasn't played through these, go do it! I'm still amazed at how each of the creators' personalities came out - you're playing an old school recreation, but each still has a flavor of it's own.2009-12-21 02:16:00
