I'm talking about the level packs. :kz:
Do you think that one will be better or will they about the same?

Yes, I do. MM is almost like us creators, they learn like we do and our work only improves as time goes by. Just look at the MGS pack, in my opinion those levels are significantly better than the Story levels, and they were only created months apart.2009-12-16 20:59:00

I would say so... As Endless_Echo said, they improve just like the rest of us. I also think they learn a bit from community levels as well as their own expertise.

In looking at the trailer and some of the photos, the levels look really great and can't wait to give them all a shot.

I think they will be much better and not just because of the addition of water (but that is a plus).
In my opinion the MGS levels seemed a bit gimmicky with the Paintinator. In the PotC pack, the levels look like a throwback to the story mode levels which is nice.
Also, it looks as if we're actually getting 5 full levels with it this time around instead of 4 and an intro level.

For me, yes it will be better!

But it's more a matter of personal taste :
I'm simply more appelled by the pirate theme than the "miltary" one,
and I think the POTC will be more fun than the MGS one, and fits better the MM/LBP style...

Of course.
The levels look more story-oriented then the MGS pack. Hopefully the storyline is not a dud at the end o_e

I really don't know if they will be great because regardless you think they will be better or not, it's assuming stuff we don't know about. Chances are they got better at making levels but it doesn't mean it will mark us as much as the MGS levels. At least the content in general inside the pack seems to please me more than the content in MGS and there's more songs. In short, it will probably be better regardless.

The levels better be great too because I am SERIOUSLY spoiled by great user stuff all year. Media Molecule is having great challenge here.

Actually, it's the same amount of music- four. One int, "hunted" and "hunter" tracks, and yell dead cell in MGS, and four in Pirates (presumably one int and 3 regular same).

Anyway, from what I can tell, there will be more levels (MGS only had two "real" ones). If the prize bubbles are harder to obtain this time like they were in the original game, then the pack itself will definitally be better to me, not necessarily the content.

In my opinion the MGS levels seemed a bit gimmicky with the Paintinator.

See, I always thought that. It seemed as though it was just stuck in there sometimes for no reason (don't get me wrong, sometimes they used it brilliantly) but with water, I think it will be different, because underwater levels are directly related to pirates, whereas a paint gun isn't that related to someone making spam levels xD

Guns are related to soldiers though.

I think the PotC pack will be better because of the water, it's a huge game changer. Also, the levels look more puzzle orientated, which I like (and wish I could make).

I think it'll have a similar impact, not necessarily more or less than the paintinator. That powerup opened up quite a few possibilities for things, and not just for fighting enemies, there have been some brilliant paintinator puzzles out there.

But like anything in littlebigplanet, its effect is only limited by the creativity of those who use it ;p

How involved can we hope it to be? Even the MM storyline was pretty dudish.

Well I think it will be better. It is Johnee's first level pack and his levels are amazing. And just think about it, they have had a year to make the best levels they possibly can.

Now which will be better paintinator or water, well i cant really comment. I like the water and i like the paintinator, I haven't really done much with either but i think both will be used alot in the next few months.

It does include a brick material. How can it not be better?

I don't know it depends very much on the levels.
I'm sure I will use water more often than the paintinator, but I don't think I will use it all my future levels. I can see some use for the materials and objects.

Can you use the paintinator underwater? That would be epic.2009-12-17 17:05:00

POTC pack will be much better! I still like the MGS pack of course, but pirates are much more my thing.

I'm a frayed knot.

Arhhgg! Look what you did Coxy!

The paintinator is automatically removed from your hands when you touch the water and you can't pick it up when swimming.

Looking back at all the materials and tools the MGS pack gave us, including the paintinator, I think they totally changed the face of LittleBigPlanet. Before that, virtually everything was platforming. All of the sudden, you had mechanics to do soooo much more.

Think about this:

What would LittleBigPlanet have been like without plasmas? It was the first time a death mechanism that could be used without gravity or impact messing everything up was implemented. Plasma is STILL today the #1 coolest and most used boss mechanic.

What would life be like without paintinator bullets? They have been used for fountains, new types of weapons... such as the infinately cool implementation in Basalisk Bog, ways to safely push Sackboy up in the air....

As well as the paintinator - which added action gameplay which was impossible earlier on.

Think about Mobile Suit Armorboy from Gevurah22 - it became far better when he could implement plasma instead of sticks of material shooting out.

I've been on the water beta for a while, and I think it will be fantastic - but I'm not sure I'm willing to say that the tools will be better than MGS. But I do think with some creativity we will see the new tools create totally new types of gameplay.
