I would think it would, unless Mm want another PCS scores issue on their hands

I seen this over on LBW and was waiting for you to post it so I could comment here

I'll just copy what I said over on LBW actually...

Oooo Alex must have listened to my concerns over the burn in with the thermo!

I was surprised that they hadn't heard about it before I mentioned it. I thought it was quite a well known issue for some people.

They got it in the game pretty quickly too! I think this proves conclusively to everyone that Mm definitely do listen to the community.

When I mentioned it he actually said 'Ohh I never thought about that, what do you think would be the best way to stop it?' And it's actually been implemented in the exact way I suggested!

While water (amongst lots of others) is probably the biggest indication that Mm listens to the community, I think something so small and specific probably demonstrates it even clearer!

I'm very curious about this. I wonder what kind of stats they could be?

Number of times played, number of unique players, number of players completed the level, first published, stuff like that.

I'm honestly really interested in number of players completed, when compared with total number of players, and number of hearts.

That's gonna be my new measure of success on Setbacks:

(hearts : unique players completed level)

First published may or may not work - it depends if the database has that data for earlier levels. Lets hope is does, as that would be lovely.

Save Pod...finally...(why am I crying?)

Now that is has been announced we can finally say that this was also a feature in the beta I was really looking forward to see in regular LBP.

I brought up this issue too quite early on in the BETA aswell.

Well I'd have to disagree. From the conversation I had with Alex, it was clear that he wasn't aware of the issue but realised it could be a problem for a lot of people...and then a month and a half later the solution I suggested is the exact way it has been implemented into the game...

I'd say there is some causal link there somehow

I think it's fair to say that would be a pretty big coincidence

I don't think it matters who said what to who, and who glued an impact explosive to who's shoes. In the end it's just a useful feature to have. 2009-12-15 19:27:00

Yeah there was also a thread pretty soon after the game came out on the workshop about it and Sam actually said something along the lines of 'Oh yeah I can see this being a problem, I'll pass it along to the necessary people'

That is why I was surprised when I mentioned it to Alex that he had never thought or heard anything about the problem before.

Great improvements all around, I'm really interested in the new statistics on each level. I've always been very watchful over the heart to play ratios on my levels so this is a nice welcome. If only we could change the number of plays to number of people who played the level. 2009-12-15 19:39:00

But didn't we get the burn-in reduction in the beta waaay before the MediaMolecule meet and greet? Otherwise, thanks for letting them know, I'm so glad they finally realized the issue.

Perhaps someone could confirm/deny this? I haven't been on the beta for a while so I don't know.

To be fair, all the information I'm going off is how Alex didn't know about the issue, how it has now been implemented so soon after, and how it is implemented in the way I suggested.

It could all be coincidence, I would presume however that if a feature or change was being made, Alex would know about it in some way.

I am almost positive we did get some sort of burn in reduction thing in the beta. I vaguely remember it being in the release notes. I don't quite remember when it was, but I wanna say it was late summer.

What? does this mean there's no thermometer now? so we can put as much stuff into a level as we want now? that doesen't sound right someone correct me here...

No, read it again.

It's basically a setting so that you can hide the HUD in create mode.
Spaff has worded that kinda wrong considering how people can mistake that as something else.

@KZQ

Screen burn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_burn-in

More apparent on older 'tube' sets, but LCD and plasma TV's can still suffer from it. Also Plasma moreso than LCD sets.

It resets it to what ever you have your avatar set to on the PS3.

Mine is a Lemming, so it will reset it to that if I choose that option.

Danish Blue? How lame! Why not Camambert or Gorgonzola!

Anyhoo... If heart to play ration is really a new stat then that dissapoints me. Most underrated level plays are from the person's friends. Even a good level could get a terrible ratio if it was hard and made it to cool levels, ect... Sure, some levels will finally get some good recognition but all in all I think it'll just be another stat h4hers and lucky noobs will have to brag about...

Also, I'm terrible at making pods, so save feauture or not, my pod will still suck XD

I don't know when this feature was placed but it's the first time I've seen it, when you are on your pod computer, go down to "Community"(don't click on it) it says "1,611,973 levels published in total!"

Just noticed it now.

Well, there was that famous melancholy one, and his on again/off again girlfriend who liked the water..... was her undoing in the end

So anyone else looking forward to this if for no other reason than to try and make create mode more stable since Leerdeemer? I've had more freeze ups and drops back to the XMB since the last update than the entire year before... at least if feels like it.

I don't think heart to play ratio is one of the new stats, but it's something you'll be able to work out if you can be bothered. You can do it now and always have been able to do, but it's never correct ebcause the current play count includes replays. One of the new stats however is unique players, so you'll be able to compare that number to the number of hearts to get a more accurate idea of how mnay people really like your level.

No, hearts : plays is not a new stat, at least not in the beta. AS nuclear fish was saying, hearts to unique plays is actually a very interesting stat from a creator point of view and that is something we can now look at.

From my point of view, I want to see the hearts: number of people who have completed the level. At one point my number of hearts was roughly the same as the number of people on the 1-player scoreboard, which was obviously very pleasing to know.

Sorry, it should probably be "unique players". Essentially how many different people have played your level. So if I play your level 20 times, it counts as 20 plays, but 1 unique player. Does that make sense?2009-12-16 16:37:00

I'm particularly interested in seeing how many unique plays my survival challenges have had. Then I can get an idea how many times on average people will repaly them. So if one challenge compared to another has a larger difference in unqiue plays vs total plays, then people must find that level more enjoyable to play through again and again.

Pretty useful info to have access to.

Ah yes, I hadn't thought of it in terms of evaluating replayability.

Very useful info indeed. I'm sure some people will find ways to use stats to brag about their levels, but those people would find some mundane thing to brag about to make themselves feel better, whether it's hearts, plays, ratings, or some combination of those factors.
